  • Day in the life of a plumber
    This was probably one of the weirdest days I've had in a while, I was plumbing away upstairs and two guys turn up, take the key out the door and decide to help themselves out the garage.
    As always, thanks for watching, all the support is greatly appreciated

    Great video Tom, in Coventry years ago one of the Orbit Housing Surveyors got locked inside a void property by the locals, all voids were sitexed up with metal temporary shutters and entrance to this property was around the back and they barred the door after he went in 😂, luckily he had his mobile phone and was rescued shortly afterwards

    The legionella thing is ridiculous Tom, they’ve got to find something to justify their fee, good vid as always 👍

      Thanks for the support as always mate, it properly annoys me, I realise they are only doing a job but sometimes common sense has to come into play, often these testers have been on a 1 day course qnd have no clue what they are doing, I was on a job where one was asking me how to get into the roof space, when I told him it was an unvented cylinder with no tanks he was clueless, there were obvious dead legs that never get picked up and they pick up a cold feed on a cylinder, it baffles me

    Hi Tom, as always great video. Please please please be careful when approaching suspicious people, I always think its a good idea to take a picture of them and their activities at a safe distance be for you approach them (only if you feel its safe to do so). I know when you're faced with that situation, personal safety dosent always come to mind. Great video and sharing your experiences- legend!

      Thanks for the support mate, I'm not a violent person by any means but I will never stand back and watch something happen, I will stand my ground, I could tell straight away they didn't want a confrontation as they were trying to leave, you only get a few seconds to think what to do and there were two of them, and they were in the car that could be used as a weapon, ultimately I couldn't stop them from driving off but I had to say something, unfortunately there seems to be more of this stuff happening, I might get caught out one day but you can only ever do what you think is right at the time and for each situation. Thanks for watching mate

    Great video Tom. I had someone wonder in when I was working in a flat on my own once. As I left I realised the door key that I left on the side was gone. They obviously planned to come back that night and help themselves. I had to do a quick lock change….Little tinkers 😂

    • @PlumbLikeTom

    Nice content as usual Tom, did you hard pipe the bath due to legionnaires too? I take it as it’s a residential home it’s classed as commercial?

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is classed as commercial, as far as I'm aware there is still limited evidence to suggest legionnaires harbours on flexi hoses, the nhs don't use them but they use press fit which uses a similar synthetic rubber, I hard piped it because it's a better job and flexis need changing, the hard pipes should last the lifetime of the bathroom, thanks for watching as always 👍

    • @diddywright6165
      @diddywright6165 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have dealings with environmental health from time to time and the suggestion was that flexi’s would be faded out commercially hence my question mate, mind you most of the ones (building control too) I meet just seem to change regs to justify their role!

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@diddywright6165 The last time I went on a legoinalla course I was told there was not enough evidence to state bacteria grows more easily in flex's, obviously depending which companies are testing they will have different results depending if they make the flex's or not. if they do get banned it will be trouble as there are thousands out there, it also brings into question the rubber seals in press fittings
