      Thanks Debra. We haven't got any more Royal cruises booked at the moment but Brilliance of the Seas will be coming to Australia and we wouldn't mind having a look at that ship. January is coming around fast, you'll soon be back on board and it'll all come back to you 🙂

      @@robandalicruisetravel no worries! I would say I liked it not loved it but that was mainly because my 15yo daughter was bored the whole time and made it not enjoyable. I will try another in November with my 18yo son who didn’t go but I know would love it all. So she won’t be going again she said she would rather stay home and work at maccas

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that it wasn't great but at least you're trying another. Our girls are 17 and 18 and we missed those mid-teen years of holidays with them due to the pandemic disruptions. They don't mind coming with us now as it's a 'free' holiday for them but equally, they don't mind when we go on our own as they have the house to themselves (and it saves us having to get accommodation for the dogs). I can't recall if you mentioned which ship you went on and also, what have you booked on for November?

    • @Billytv1000
      @Billytv1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robandalicruisetravel it was ok just didn’t get to do a lot that we wanted to do. We leave out dog with our 17 and 18yo too way better than a dog kennel. Daughter will be minding him too next time. We went on the Carnival Splendour as we are in Melb to Moreton Island. Not booked yet but will probably book the Pacific Islands with Carnival again as he wanted to go on the same ship. It also looks like it has a lot more less sporty activities (like Royal Caribbean) as he doesn’t like sporty type things

    I have a usb c and micro usb charger cord that live in my suitcase, so I don't have to remember to take them. You end up with so many cords buying phones and ither things over the years, I figured at some point that I can just dedicate one of each (and one of the plug in usb parts) to my suitcase and be done with it.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is actually a great idea. I do tend to rely on grabbing them all together and double checking I have what I need but having spares that live in the suitcase is probably a lot easier and less stressful. Will definitely look into that one. Thanks.

  • @rowenamattingley5677
    @rowenamattingley5677 ปีที่แล้ว

    I keep spare charging cables, torch, zip lock sandwich bags (to take a pastry or 2 for a snack). I also keep toiletries that I could not live without in my case, including baby wipes for a quick freshen up if required.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like we're thinking along the same lines Rowena. Charging cables is a good one that we don't do though. Might have to invest in some spares to keep in there as well. There are so many that you need these days that it's easy to forget one. Thanks for the tip.

    Hi Rob and Ali, thanks for another helpful video! I have a question regarding laundry? Can you please do a laundry edition? I know you guys have your fold away P&O laundry hamper… but what do you do about washing powder? Do you take sachets? How often should I do a wash for a 8 night cruise? How do the machines work? Do I need coins or tokens? What about items that can’t go in a dryer? Would you hang them in your room? Can things be hung on a room balcony or is it too windy? So many questions for such a simple task 😂 I’d love a video that explains the whole process if possible? And anything else you can think of relating to this topic that would be good for a first time cruiser to know about for laundry tasks!
    Thanks so much,
    Jo (Perth, WA)

      We take washing pods, and every crusie is different with the way they do laundry RC don't even have one, you pay for a small bag, we usually do it about once or twice on 7 nighter and hang all our swimmers ect from metal hooks we hang from roof near windows inside to get dry, and take pegs to hang outside to peg to chairs other wise it will blow away! We also use the coat hangers and pegs and hang on walls with metal hooks in room to dry stuff too especially if you have an inside room. You can ask for coathangs if you run out!

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jo. Short answer is we do not generally do laundry on cruises. We try to take enough clothes with us to last the whole cruise. However, there are a lot of people that do so we will certainly look at doing a video about the laundry on our next cruise, which is Wednesday. Thanks for the suggestion. As for drying, you shouldn't really dry on the balcony. The main reasons are that the cruise lines ask you not to, your laundry could blow away end up in the ocean (not good for you having lost your clothes or for the little fishies in the ocean). Also, because you are out at sea, the air is very heavy in salt so your clothes will likely become salted. If there is a laundry on board there will be dryers. Beware though as these can be dangerous places with many arguments centreing around laundries. What we do with wet cothes is use the line in the bathroom or hang them from the ceiling using our strong magnetic hooks.

    Thanks guys, your videos are so helpful. Lucky you going on your next cruise soon! February for my first cruise - Princess, Brisbane to New Zealand 🤗 Have you done a video on what to put in a medical kit at all? I have a list of the basics but I wonder if there are some things experienced cruisers might think of that I have missed.

      Hi Monique. Sorry for the delay in replying, it's been mad busy in our lives. Princess cruises are great and the NZ itinerary is fantastic so you should have a brilliant time. We did a video some time ago which included our First Aid kit. Have a look at that and see if it answers your question. Pop up landary hampers, clothing washing pods,hanging shelves, bingo daubers we reuse them saves you money, lenyards, passports, and reusable ponchos, blow up noodles, and most of the ideas you have used.

      Thanks Sarah. I wish we had seen your comment before going on the last cruise - forgot lanyards so we had to buy some new ones. They're in the 'keep in the case' now though. We don't play the bingo but that's another excellent thing to keep in the case - when are you going to use them apart from on a cruise anyway. 🙂

      Hi and thanks for asking. We are off on the Pacific Encounter on Wednesday visiting PNG. 10 nights so it's quite a long one for us. I'm not sure if we will be able to post anything from the ship as uploading takes up a lot of internet bandwidth but we will be back on 17th June and will definitely be posting either that day or the next.
