      I bought a pair of these Danner Acadia when i was 16 years old and in the Army Cadet Force . Then went on to use them in the Territorial Army here in the UK.That was 22 years ago .I still remember putting them on and walking my girlfriend home , it was snowing , and on the way back I felt i could just keep walking for miles. Online now looking for a good deal for another pair right now . The quality of the leather is second to none and remember the cream supplied to keep it in good order . That sole as mentioned here is superb great stability and a bounce that makes you feel like going for a run with Forrest Gump . Mine went with me all over Northern Ireland , England, Scotland and Germany.. Really cant wait to get another pair and get outside again .. 👍🇬🇧

      The mountain lite 2 is the best boot I ever owned. I saved up for two years to get that pair of boots and I dont regret it at all. I've had them almost two years and I beat the hell out of them. I'm about ready for a resole but before I do I'm getting the same pair in brown because I cant imagine being without my danners. Even for a few weeks while they are being worked on.

      I had a pair of Danner Go Devil Boots In 1987 when I was in the Army , in West Germany . Very wet rainy, snow . Melted snow. Freezing cold . However I’m in the Infantry. When you have a 5 mile movement-To- Contact , You Can’t Klunk Around In Cold Or wet weather boots. The combination of Gore Tex, Vibram kept my feet warm and agile. Great support, could road march and run through thick mud and ice . They are sold today as the Fort Lewis Boot . AR 670-1 Compliant. Only comes in black for $400. The only boot comparable to them are the M.E.B. . Gore Tex kept me alive when we lived in the field .

    I'll always have a soft spot for these. Did numerous tours in them and they never failed. Nothing touches them for quality, durability, comfort and looks. Expensive, but worth every penny.

      Toza same. I still wear my cold weather danners from time to time in the winter when I'm shoveling snow, splitting wood, etc. they are around six years old and look rough but they are still 100%.

    I'm currently running the 8" Acadias with the 400G thinsulate, and they're good enough to stand up to some of the harshest Canadian winter conditions. Absolutely love these boots and worth every penny.

    I’ve been policing for almost 27 years. My first pair of work boots were the Ft. Lewis boots. They were heavy but perfect for cooler wet weather. As the summer came, I bought a pair of Acadia boots. I still have them. They look like crap but I sue them for SRT training days, in the summer and the Ft. Lewis for winter training. These first pair of boots were replace with....you guessed it, Danner Acadia and Ft. Lewis boots. In my 27 years of law enforcement, I’ve only owned five pair of boots.....Danner’s. Buy once, cry once.

    Having owned both the goretex and the thinsulate lined versions of the Acadia for nigh on thirty years I would recommend the uninsulated versions for year round use as the thinsulate lining makes feet sweat like crazy unless it is well below zero.
    Great channel cheers!

    Purchased my first pair in 1988 in the Marines. We used them for moderate winter field work. Too hot for hard, active summer use. Not sure about newer materials, but mine were slippery on icy conditions. Damn solid construction. And Yes, I still have my original boots in the closet. Don't need them anymore, but have too many memories to let them go. Now days I wear one of their superb hiking boots, that don't look tactical.

    I have had these boots for 2 years now. Should have used milk oil to soften the leather faster. But after the boots were broken in, I cannot complain, I love them. As a former corrections officer and a police officer I highly recommend these boots to anybody that wants comfort and wants to look professional.

    I bought my only pair in 1997, 25 years ago. It was towards the end of my army service. Still going strong, best boot I ever bought. I generally only wear them half a year as they're too much boot for me in summer. I hunt/shoot 3 or 4 days a week still and absolutely love them. In comparison my summer boots last barely two summers. Come autumn out come my danners till late spring. Given my age now, they'll see me out and get passed on. Truly superb boots and the only boot I would ever consider wearing over bare feet.

    Worn Acadias for thirty years, comfortable, supportive and durable, what more is there? Many bash Danner and in fairness no one scores with every product they make but the Acadia has been one of the top choices for the good guys in black for decades, if it fulfils their exacting requirements, take it on strength, it’ll perform for 99% of everyone else. Bought my first pair on a visit to a place in North Carolina, Fort something or other 😉 and the good folks there liked ‘em a lot!! Good enough for them, good enough for me.

    This is the boot lol... for the last two days I have been watching and commenting on your post about Danner boots... Incredible boots folks...I bought mine just over 20 years ago... and could not recall the model name and well here they are. Yes, I was in the military and the military was changing to better quality boots, after years of very poor quality boots. This is the boot that became the pattern that the military went with. This boot is incredible. I still have mine, I probably paid less than for the boot than the price they now I imagine go for. But I have worn that boot around the world and through the trenches and hundreds of miles. I continue to wear them and they look as good now as when I first got them. You mentioned they are a warm weather boot...perhaps by design and description, but I have worn them in snow and cold weather and they are fantastic in all climates and conditions. These boots are incredible and I now have my second pair of Danner boots, the camo Danner Vitals and true to quality they too are incredible boots. I won't own another boot.

    My buddy was issued these boots in the Marines back in 2001. He turned me onto them back then I’ve been wearing them ever cents. Hands-down my favorite boot.
    I have never had them rebuilt. I typically get about five or six years out of them and then I buy a new pair.

    I had been wearing these for 2 years as an LEO without issue until the grip on the sole wore out (regular duty and A LOT of off-duty work). I decided to order a new pair but was told supply lines were delayed due to COVID so I would not get a new boot for awhile. I decided to take my boots to a nearby cobbler who was able to easily replace the grip on the bottom fairly cheaply with the same Vibram sole and my boots are better than new because there was no break-in period. My new boots came in recently but prefer to wear my worn in ones!

    Work in Corrections and love these boots in the summertime they run a little hot 🥵. I got 3 years out of them then rebuilt but not by Danner, lasted about a year no longer waterproof after rebuild. Just bought the Danner shoe for the summer and another pair of Acadia with the 35% sale they are having now.

    I own two pairs of Danner USMC RAT combat boots. The GTX and the hot weather version are the ones I own. I'm a USMC Veteran and love my boots. I also own a pair of Belleville USA USMC 590 hot weather and old school USMC jungle boots with the Panama lugged sole. I happen to also own a pair of Danner Quarry 8" black "civilian". The Danner Acadia or the Recon are next on my list. For the type of foot I have 11D - 11.5D (bigger than average and medium/wide) Danner boots seem to fit me best. They seem always good to go pretty much right out of the box unlike other brands. The others often have seems near the vamp and tongue joint area that rub abrasively on the bones of my foot that hurts like a mofo until they get broken in. Some brands are so ridiculously thick there with 3+ layers of sewn leather into a "glob"....they never break in *cough* Thorogood *cough* even after over 6 months of wear. In my opinion they are even better quality than Red Wing USA as I own many of them as well. Not by much, just a little tad bit better.......
    Oohrah!!

    When I put on my Acadias I feel like I can walk blind folded through a mine field . They feel like I've stepped into a vehicle or a suit of armor. I had a pair of Wesco combat boots many years ago, another great old American boot co. that made some excellent boots for firefighters, forestry guys, loggers, motorcycle cops, etc.... Fantastic quality, and made to order! But they apparently discontinued the combat boot, and they no longer offer the same Vibram sole like they use on the Acadia/Ft. Lewis boots. I looked at Red Wing, but they no longer make the one I used to have either, the 'Irish Setter' hunting/hiking boots! So I went looking further, and found Danner; the Ft. Lewis are as close to my old Wesco boots as can be, and as soon as I have the funds, I'm ordering them. Spendy boots, so I gotta save, but I'm totally sure they're well worth it.

    I just bought the Danner Grouse. From what I can tell they are the same boot as the Acadia with a different outsole and color scheme. That is why I got them, because I know how good the Acadias are. I wanted a good, lightweight fall/spring boot for the Northern Michigan woods. I have always used Red Wings for work and stand by them, but their outdoor/hunting boot selection isn't great. I like quality boots and Danner is a good American brand, I'm sure they will be great.

    I have two pairs and won't use anything else for a 12+ hour shift. I alternate pairs so they don't rot from foot sweat. While I'm wearing one, the other has a pair of cedar shoe trees inside awaiting the next shift. I spit shine both with Angeles. For range days I wear Tachyons or my Merrell hikers.

    I have a pair of the full leather versions (recon model, I think is what they are called), medium wool socks mandatory, feels really odd with lightweight or cotton socks and the tounge is really thick with the gortex and digs into my shins. Fix is to lace down to 4th holes from the top, it makes it alot better to wear.

    No matter which review I seem to read/watch, I have yet to find the answer to my question... do these boots have removable insoles? Yes, I am aware there is an Airthotic, but is there a removable insole that I can take out and replace with an actual orthotic? Or is it one of those boots where there is no removable insole and you'd have to buy a larger boot to accommodate the orthotic insole?

    • @TheBootGuyreviews
      @TheBootGuyreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +B Lange there is only an airthodic inside the boot I am holding. Now, danner might of changed that. But, you will or should have space inside for a prescribed orthotic.

    • @blange2888
      @blange2888 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I have always worn an 11.5 in Danners, but after receiving my pair of Acadias without removable insoles, I learned I would need a larger boot to accommodate my orthotics. I ended up returning my Acadias (NOOO!) because I was unaware the boot had no removable insole. I guess i'll be starting from square one again.
      Also, while frantically looking for the removable insoles in the Acadia, I noticed there was a stitch line that ran down the middle of where an insole would sit. Has that bothered you or anyone you know of who has owned the boot. When I first got the boot and was checking for removable insoles, I truly thought there were supposed to be insoles because I couldn't see someone walking on that all day. It just seemed unfinished I guess.

    • @swolepatrol2139
      @swolepatrol2139 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      B Lange No you can not remove the insole, don't know why you couldn't put some Dr sholes in them. They are comfortable without any been wearing for about a month now and love them.

    without a doubt the best all round boot of all time in my humble opinion, now on my second pair

    I just received my Acadia 400gs yesterday. Question. Is the airthotic insert the only removal sole liner in this boot? I see the padding attached to the bottom but there is no other removable insert other than the airthotic. I just wanna make sure Danner didn’t forget to include the insoles in my boots.

    I took the airthotics out and put them in my weightlifting shoes. Much better for both the boots and the shoes as far as how they feel.

    The U.S. boots have the best interior I've ever seen in a boot. The heel doesn't wear out the interior. TFX feel like tennis shoes. Not as good an interior as the U.S. made boots. A good pair of boots protects your feet. I would rather wear Danner's than any others.

    “ it’s goretex, meaning it’s water proof nothing gets in or out” the inside is lined with goretex which allows it to be water proof while allowing sweat and moister to release from the inside...

    Danner is the "Rolls Royce" of footwear. Pricey, yes - BUT if they last 10 years in normal use, that's only approximately $30 per year. Nothing can equal Danner.

    I've had a few pairs of Acadia's over the years. I have these acadia's and the non metallic steel toe versions. They are a heavy and tough made boot. They stretch out quite a bit after a few months of wearing them, where I've had to add a second insole insert on top of the airthotic insole. They almost need a full length insole if your going to be on your feet a lot though as the foot bed is quite hard, and the boot is heavy compared to other "officer" boots on the market. Also there isnt a ton of ankle support, you sort of rely on the size of the vibram sole for stability....I havent had the problem of rolling my ankle in them but once you overcome the center of gravity of the sole dont expect your boot to magicly save you lke some other brands (Eg. Lowa, Hanwag). If you're in a colder climate get the 200g insulation, If it gets down to -15 celcuius or more and your outside for more than 2 hours, your toes will hate you. I love the danner, I wish the vibram sole was more rounded in the heel since Im a huge heel strike first type walker and these make me feel like I have to land flat footed. I wish I could say they are terrible for running but I don't run. I do kick things and they seem to take the impact of a door or window or face/shin ect quite well. Great boot, but don't kid yourself they are heavy!

      Thanks. Finally a honest comment.
      Thanks, i thought i was the only one that though these boots are heavy,bulky,not great for someone with plantar fasciitis.and yes i found it unbelievable to imagine people wear this without a insole. Im currently thinking about switching to a pair of Danner stryker II or maybe some bates. Whatever doesn't hurt my feet after 12 hours

      @SavagePenguin13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@abrahamfonseca6198 absolutely agree. I have plantar fasciitis and high arches and after wearing these boots 8-10 hours, my feet and back hate me. They were issued in training so I was forced to wear them daily for about 6 months. Even after being well broken in, they were/are terrible. After a few months, I got some insoles with arch support that made them a little more bearable. Based on my experience with them if you have plantar fasciitis and/or high arches, I’d stay away from these.

    "Rebuildable" and "Resolable" are two very different things in the world of leather work boots. The terms are not interchangeable. Every Danners I have bought when it's time for a rebuild it is less expensive to buy a new pair due to price of a rebuild and the lead time of months to get back. A local cobbler can resole a pair of Danners for at least 20 dollars cheaper then the factory. A company like Nicks, Whites, or Wescos are truly rebuildable. Sent them in and the only thing kept is the upper, EVERYTHING else is replace for 200 dollars including the sole

    Just a comment for any cops looking at these. They feel broken in right out of the box. As far as being waterproof, you won’t find anything better. You’re guaranteed to stay dry in these. They take a shine really well and look great with a uniform, but I recommend taking them to a cobbler to have the leather conditioned all over before duty use.
    As for negatives: To me, they are not super comfortable when standing stationary for an extended period of time. I have a pair of Nike boots I wear on details for that reason. They are very comfortable for patrol work, but they are heavy and not the easiest boots to run in. I have the 200G insulation and I still need to wear heavy winter socks to stay warm (that might just be specific to me). I feel like they run really big so try on a pair before you buy online. Lastly, they are considerably more slippery on wet tile flooring compared to other boots I’ve worn; it’s like walking on ice.
    Although they’re expensive, they are top quality and like anything else, if you take care of them they’ll last forever. I haven’t come across any myself, but apparently there are some that are made outside the USA and are of significantly lesser quality, so beware when looking for deals online. Danner’s reputation as a company speaks for itself. They definitely take care of their customers.
