one of my 5amh batteries was dead flat and would not charge so a friend told me to put it in the freezer over night which i did and next morning i put it on charge and low and be hold it worked , i,ve been using the battery now for a few months with no problems.
I got one as a gift and I think that it is great. I can replace batteries on charge as I've needed them. The only thing that it is missing is an inverter to make AC out if necessary.
I have the 6 port charger. I used the 6 batteries to build a deck and was never without a charged battery. I often forget about the USB port, but when I remember it, its always been a help. I do wish that I could draw battery power to the USB port when the charger is not plugged in, but its not a deal breaker. I never considered storage as a negative. Best way to charge Ryobi batteries.
Their 2-port charger (PCG005) does combine two independent charging circuits to charge 2 batteries simultaneously from one AC plug for not much cheaper than this 6-port sequential charger. The regular 1-port charger is 60w. The dual port and the fast charger are105w (cut in half when two batteries inserted), and the 6-port charger is 115w. So the dual port is actually slower charge per battery with 2 inserted over a solo charger. and the 6-port charger is double the speed of a port and slightly faster than a fast charger. And the super mini P119 charger that comes with some kits is only a 6w so it's a super slow trickle charge.
I just pick up the newest version of the six port super charger. And I thought it was broken because it only charges one battery at a time. I got six new batteries that needs charging and one at a time BS is going to take a whole bunch of time.
If you have quite a few ryobi batteries this 6 port charger is definitely needed. Even if it charges sequential. I just bought one and what a relief I don't have to have ryobi single chargers laying around taking up ac plugs
I have multiple chargers, I simplify plug them into a multi outlet surge protector, then plug the surge protector into a single outlet. All batteries get charged at the same time and you're not limited to six batteries. Charging one battery at a time is fine if you have a lot of time or have a lot of spare already charged batteries laying around. If you ask me, designing it to charge one port at a time was strategic for the benefit of Ryobi, not the consumer.
@@Mazel_Tov_888because of the specific way lithium batteries have to be charged, they can't be charged in parallel, so to charge multiple at once would require basically 6 individual chargers to be inside instead of one charger circuit and a single "brain" that goes through them in sequence. But I agree having each side be independent would be worth the extra cost for materials
I have two of them hanging on my wall. I just carry several extra batteries with me when I am out working on a project. I also watch my local stores for close out sales to pick up new batteries. I have picked up several 6 amp batteries at a much lower price.
If you want to charge multiple batteries at the same time, mount the charges to a board and use a power strip that matches the number of chargers. The Super Charger does exactly what it is made for, one battery at a time.
I purchased a Ryobi SupperCharge last year. Yesterday it stopped charging in all six ports. Each port lights up red when I pug in a battery, but never turns green. I had to go back to my collection of single chargers. Very disappointing! Any suggestions on a fix?
I have the older flat style Ryobl 6 port charger. If you fully charge the batteries and then unplug the charger overnight all batteries discharge back thru the internal coil of the charger. Does the new charger still have this issue?
I don’t believe so. You can leave the new charger plugged in 24/7 if you wanted too. I also had it unplugged for the days and the batteries remained fully charged.
@@theryobiguy4618 Thanks for the reply. Yep the issue happened when we charger up for a field job got to the site 2 days later all batteries dead, no good. I will probably buy the new one, hopefully they installed blocking diode in charge path! Thanks again.
Just came across this video in my suggestions. Every brand of these multi-port chargers is sequential. If you want to charge all the batteries at the same time then you'll need separate chargers for each. My understanding is that it keeps the amperage draw down by being sequential. If it were pulling current for all 6 at once then it MIGHT trip the circuit (especially if other items are on the same circuit. The assumption is that a person will only be using 1 battery/tool at a time and you won't have 6 batteries going dead at the same time. By being sequential, it will use all of the current on one battery, get it charged up, and then move onto the next. These are really meant more for charging up all of your batteries at the end of the day (overnite). That's my understanding. Don't shoot the messenger.
Thanks for the reply. The charger is great for carrying and organizing. If I need multiple chargers I’ll carry one extra which helps eliminate the spaghetti mess. Also starting the day off with 6 fully charged batteries keeps the Ryobi tools running all day! Thanks again for the view!
I bought the same 6 way charger a couple of months ago.. I think that this charger is a waste of money!!!! The point of having a 6 way charger, is so that you can charge 6 batteries at the same time.. who ever thought this was a good idea needs to be kicked in the nuts, I swear!!!!
I've had this charger for years and I'm disappointed mainly because it charges sequentialy .Ryobi can easily make a simultaneous 6 port charger and it sucks. this charger is ok for me to charge over night
Mine died.... It is probably the shittiest ryobi product I own. It is better to use the individual chargers and plug them in a strip. It'll charge the batteries at the same time, and if one charger dies, then at least it's just one. I end up cutting a small board and screw 5 chargers and a strip on it. Makes it more portable.
Ryobi batteries are obsolete, cause they plugged into the grip of a drill, so the handles are not ergonomic, much too thick wheres the battery is plugged in. Ryobi makes quite a few extremely low quality stuff, for example inflaters without ball bearings where it should have some and the little blower they make is worse than many toys i ever saw. I go for makita 18V compatible knock off tools, where i pay no cent just for a brand name.

Great video, just subbed...Looking forward to reviews of all the new Ryobi products.

Awesome! I’ll make a setup like that for the garage.
Good job explaining how that works thank you.
I just want this guy to say "Eh, I'm walkin' here"
I have the same charger, can I leave it in my garage in the winter to charge batteries? (I do not leave my batteries out there)

Would have been nice if you mentioned charging speed!
is there anything out there to charge them all at the same time?

Thats probably its intended use. You probably wouldnt need more than 8 or 10 batteries a day even with alot of work.
Thanks for the info!
I have 2 six port chargers. I got the when they had buy 1 tool and get it for free. Had for years now. Would not go back to single battery charger
Thank you for sharing

Lol i did call them on batteries. You have to have recite or they do nothing
I've had this charger for years and I'm disappointed mainly because it charges sequentialy .Ryobi can easily make a simultaneous 6 port charger and it sucks. this charger is ok for me to charge over night
I was disappointed as well when I found out it only charged one at a time..just picked one up a week ago.
Agreed! Maybe one day they will have a simultaneous unit. It’s still works well for organizing and carrying.

I’m sure if you reach out to Ryobi Warranty Department they can make things right.
That is the Ryobi garbage-charger for people that only look on the picture before buying.

Used these for years. The new ones are terrible stay away
