UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust th-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.
Welp, I really appreciate your video. Just received a BE 4000 PSI 4gpm washer today freighted in from Florida. From the factory the set screw holding the key down was missing and the key had worked its way lose so I was just getting hose pressure. Your video saved me a lot of time in trouble shooting and now I'll just be waiting on a warranty replacement part to come in.
The spacer absolutely belongs there. All of these units have the spacer stock from factory. I have a tool store and have sold dozens of this model. I have also seen a few where the key was missing from factory.
From what I know now I agree the spacer is stock from the factory. I believe it was used as an aid to prevent the key from being mis-installed. It doesn't hurt but isn't necessary. I've only seen this spacer on Simpson products or products Simpson manufactures for other brands. Thanks for watching.
You fixed my new Simson power washer. I returned it to Amazon and they refunded me but didn’t want the washer five months ago. I watched your video this morning and mine was the same. Thanks for the help.
The breather isn’t on there bud. That’s the first thing you do after taking out of box. Take that red cap off the top of pump and put the breather on. That’s why no flow is going through the pump lol.
That's the first thing I noticed! Why is this guy starting this machine with the red-cap on? 🤔This is the first thing to remove! Then he went all the way to dissemble the whole thing...LOL! 😂🤣
same problem. no pressure. the Key on mine was sitting at the bottom of the pump when i pulled it off. I put it back in the right place and works now. Also had the spacer in mine so i just took it out
I think the added the spacer to prevent the key from moving during assembly...but in reality it isn't necessary just a little more care when putting it together and higher tolerances would solve their issue. It's crazy to me they allow such sloppy assembly...
You are correct, It didn't come with the yellow one and I have to order it for customer service. I was waiting to see if I get a broken pump so I can steal the cap :)
The red cap is only for shipping.it is not the vent cap that was shipped with the machine. When I received my pressure washer the vent cap was missing and I had to order it from customer service. Do not use the machine with that shipping plug, you will severely damage the machine
Question I have the same machine and my keeps leaking water from the small orange looking valve that is next to where you hook up the water hose. Can you help why is it leaking ?
IQuestion I have the same machine and my keeps leaking water from the small orange looking valve that is next to where you hook up the water hose. Can you help why is it leaking ? And second question: I have connected the hoses, turned on the water and pressed the trigger of the gun to let out the air and get "a steady stream of water" but this is not happening even after minutes of holding the trigger. You didn’t see the woodruff key in a cavity above the shaft? All of a sudden you just a you saw a woodruff key on the ground? That spacer ring is for the key to not back off the shaft while in use.
I didn’t see the woodruff key at first. The spacer is for assembly at their plant, it prevents an mis alignment of the pump to shaft from knocking out the key. Once installed the key isn’t going anywhere and the spacer is not necessary.
This is the second video that I have seen of yours that the key is stick to the machine, after you pull the pump away....it is laying in there sideways.....you can see it if you watch it again....
You gotta watch those returns. I saw a guy that bought one at lowes and they had 'dolled up' and painted an old one and brought it in, switched stickers and all. He bought a $300 piece of crap.
I've seen some stuff like that. A few years ago I went to buy a 2" receiver for my truck and they had one that obviously was used...I took it to the counter saying I'll guy this if you give me a discount on it and they guy just looked at it saying he couldn't believe they accepted it as a return...

Hey bro how did you fix the other dewalt with the broken gasline? Because i got a simpson with the exact same model look as the dewalt with the broken i would like to know how you fixed it please
Hola amigo disculpa como se llama la parte donde va conectada la manguera de la segunda hidrolavadora la manguera que va al tanque tengo el mismo problema de la comp se llama esa parte para poder comprarla
i bought a 3800psi dewalt. It was a return. The store manager told me that one guy came in the morning bought it and returned it late afternoon. He assumed he finished his job because his shoes were soaking wet. I think it was a 1000 pressure washer at the time. I got it for about 600. His excuse for returning it was to powerful
I'm surprised they took it as a return. It seems most gas powered equipment isn't returnable once you put gas in it, besides people using it to return a lot of repairs happen because of water in the gas, ethanol fuel. One of the best deals I got was I ordered a Simpson pressure washer from Amazon and it was non-returnable. it arrived damaged-the fuel tank was significantly dented in so I contacted customers service and they said since it was non-returnable dispose of it and they sent me a new one. The second one also arrived damaged...same exact damage to the fuel tank....they said if I keep it I'll get 50% off but the item would not be returnable and carry no warranty. I took the deal so I got 2 new Simpson pressure washers for 25% of the cost. Both worked just the tanks were smashed in and for something I bought new and paid full price for I wasn't going to let it slide w/o complaining.
@jamesbubnick homedepot has a no question return policy and people abuse it. I once bought a srhil chainsaw from Northern tool. I am certain the girl who sold it to me put straight gad in it. For one she didn't know what she was talking about. I told her the chain she was trying to sell me would not fit, but she was very certain it did. I was right the chain did not fit the bar. I had to go out and buy another elsewhere. The chainsaw also started to have problems starting after on the first gas that was put my northern tool. It would die out and eventually went dead so I lost $600. Bought it to the store and said they weren't responsible they even charge me to diagnose the problem.
As long as the key was in the slot it should be ok, you can also tell but running the motor and when you see the oil sight glass once it running the oil splashes around inside, and gets lighter because air is mixed into the oil.
I found someone on Facebook selling them. He bought store returns and if they had any issues he would resell them. I've never seen broken ones for sale at Home Depot and if they don't work they send them out for repair. Another way to get broken ones is stop at a lawn equipment repair shop and ask if they are willing to sell the broken ones. A lot of time people decide against putting the money in the equipment and leave it. So the place gets a ton of equipment to keep.
Great video, i learned alot, i have a question, some guy sold me a supposedly brand new 4400psi dewalt pressure washer. We need it to pump water out from a tank like our last pressure washer but it doesnt and only seems to work from a water source that already feeds with pressure. Basically it doesnt pump water out of a tank to the machine
Make sure water is running slightly wheb you the hose in, helps to push some.of the air out, youll burn it if you plug it in first then turn on the water. It will have air inside it and it wont push it out.
They do, hardware stores will carry them, Ace usually has them and I think Home Depot/Lowes also does in the hardware isle. The keys are in different sizes based on the engine size so make sure you get the correct one. The correct key till fit snugly into the shaft. If it's too small of a key it will shear off.
So you expect to get as much money as a brand new one?. That's crazy. I'm always leery about buying anything from pallets when people ask as much as a brand new unit. I wouldn't pay more than 50% for such units. Some even have the orange sticker from home depot, which clearly shows they are returns.😅
Great video! Question - my pressure washer turns on but no water or pressure is coming out of the hose, even with a strong flow of water connected to it. How should I troubleshoot?
What I do is run engine with out hooking up the trigger hose to observe pressure on pump .if choke is still on it will not be correct pressure. Is working hook up trigger hose and restart the unit to compare pressure coming out.
I bought a dewalt 4400 psi on offerup and it seemed pretty new. But im not sure if the pump was already broken and they patched it up. My question is, will a 4200 psi pump work properly or should i buy a 4400 psi pump?
The GX270 like this uses a 1 inch crankshaft. A 4200 pump should work fine. You might first want to take the pump head off to inspect the valves and seals as if those are fine it’s probably an unloader issue. Also the h loader on these are adjustable and you want to make sure it’s screwed in. It’d it’s screwed out you’ll get lower pressure
Depending on how old or the unit was stored the pump sometimes is rusted onto the shaft of the motor. I'd try to pry it off, I've also pounded a screwdriver to get pumps off and sometimes I'll hit the pump off with a hammer but it's usually hard to get one in because of limited room
it should be a 3/16 keyway, I'e found them at Ace Hardware or TruValue. One mine it was pinched on the motor side on the bottom, I bet yours is still there....

You need to let the water flow through the system. As long as you're getting water from a house hose bib it should have enough volume/pressure.
