I’ve been ordering from Simply Sock Yarns for ages, about 15 years, and I have been once in person when we were in the area. They’re great! And if you need them to help you pick colors or get them to take pictures and talk to you in realtime you can call or email the shop and they will help.
Ya know, I'm not the biggest fan of scrappy blankets....but I am a fan of doing what you love and makes you happy and for that reason I enjoy hearing about/ seeing your scrappy blankets! Thanks as always; looking forward to hearing about 'the numbers' next week! 😊
I've been reading Louise Penny's mysteries. In particular, the Gamache detective mysteries. It's based in Canada (so a smattering of French Canadian and English mindsets). I like it a lot, she currently has 18 books out and her 19th will come out somewhere near the end of the year. It is wise to read them in order as the characters build from one to the next. Hope you try one and see if you like it. It's nice to have some different thoughts and culture under one's belt. Happy reading, crocheting, and of course knitting!
I love Simply Socks. Good choice. If you ever get a chance to visit on one of the days the store is open, it's worth a trip to Ft. Wayne. The shop is an old post office transformed into one of the most glorious collections of color options in the area. Nice people, too.
Simply Socks is a somewhat local store for me, so fun to hear you mention it. It is an amazing shop, loads of different yarns and the staff is wonderful.
Those EarPods!!!! I lost my favorite crochet hook and, just like you, tore the house apart. Nowhere to be found! I did check the couch cushions and found a sewing needle I lost. about 1 cm in my finger :( Anyway, I am in my 40 days of vlog series and all my followers were curious to see if my crochet hook turned up again. I had a crochet workshop to go to, I needed that needle, borrowed one that is nog my favorite kind, but I could do the workshop. And then I had friends over to knit, I grab the notions pouch that was in my project bag with my crochet cardigan and what do you know? It is just in there, sticking out. And I must have checked that notions pouch like 100 times. My husband started looking for my crochet hook as well, we were checking the weirdest places, like the fridge, my dresser, the bathroom etc. And all this time, it was just right in the place where it was suppose to be. How? Well, I'm happy I found it again.
I suddenly got curious about straight needles for blanket squares and paused this episode to take a look. Of course Signature is already sold out of the one size I wanted, and it looks like you can't really find straight needles in lengths shorter than 10 inches, for the most part. Then I dug into my supply of DPNs, took out a pair of Zings (my favorite), stuck a stitch stopper on one end of each one, and abracadabra! Straight needles for blanket squares. 🙂
I am also a Freida McFadden fan. And after devouring them the author Daniel Hurst was suggested to me. I'm on my first one from them and I read 50% in a day so I am holding out hope that they will give me the same thrill.
I am knitting my first pair of socks by your pattern and I love it. Using the 9 inch. After almost breaking my fingers, I am loving it now. Thank you for your patterns and videos. ❤
The chicken story! 😮 I don’t use my cc # in any of my shopping apps. I always check out with Apple Pay so that my card info is only in one place. I hope the bank gave your money back!
After losing earbuds in the charging case once, I knitted a small drawstring bag to put the case in. Just putting the earbuds in the tiny drawstring bag makes them so much easier to keep track of. I made up my own pattern and it was so easy to make that I have made dozens of drawstring bags now in so many different sizes. They make really nice gift bags.
I’m trying to make it a routine to stop what I’m doing on Friday mornings and make a cup of coffee and work on my knitting while watching your podcast (isn’t it a vlog tho? Forgive me I just rejoined the knitting world after a long break during which the internet was invented hahaha). Would love a tour of that huge cabinet behind you unless you’ve already done it? You’re a fast maker, that’s for sure!
I laughed over the ear pod story. When I was younger and lost something, I did the same thing, rip the room or house apart. My mom would always laugh and say " you'll find it when you stop looking". Wise woman 😂❤
I love simply socks and their shipping is so fast to this area! As always l, love the scrappy blankets! I totally understand the "how can you not work on cozy memories"... I am struggling to take a break from mine while i finish more socks and things to have leftovers!
I am working on the Saven too and its been fun watching your progress too. I also do 1 repeat a day but started with the body. Good motivator to keep up with you.
You've had a week! Lots of great looking projects as always. I'm so glad you gave the info again for Henley's socks....I have a little 5 year old across the street that I was thinking of making socks for so that gives me a good guideline. You know, I thought of you this week when I was looking through my patterns and sock yarn to match a book I'll be reading for Denise/earthtonesgirl's Books and Sock Knitting KAL that starts today. I thought "books and socks....2 of Kay's favorite things!" I decided to read Lisa Scottoline's "Eternal". I've loved all of her books and I found the perfect colorway to go with the book jacket. So fun to hunt down a match.
Oh that is scary on the credit card. Hope you got your money back.. I always thought cards on the apps were encrypted. that is so scary.. Love the video, socks, gorgeous blanket. I'm 3/4 done with my first sock ever, using your tutorial. Going to start the heel today. :O
Thank you for another great podcast, love all off the socks and scrappy blankets 😍. Last week I finished all of my Wip's 😱😱 that never happened to me before. Only a scrappy blanket but, that's longterm. No I have to deside what I want to make, always a sock but a sweater or a tee, shawl. Really want to cast on a tee with the new yarn I bought for my birthday. Happy knitting, Petra
I love the “what makes me happiest” idea with projects. I used to see people doing MKALS of popular designs but it always just seemed like a chore to me. I def lean into what brings me joy and comfort now.
Lol, the AirPod eating couch! I lose stitch markers, tape measures, needles, and everything knitting related in my knitting wing back chair. I now know to look there first🙂
So, so sorry you got hacked Kay and can’t believe how calmly you took it. 😬 I am totally hooked on the DK jelly roll. Cool how your granny blanket had a whole bluish stripe in there, even for a magic knot. It’s wonderful that your latest yarn can be friends! 🤭
Woohoo! You found your AirPods! I’m always losing track of my case when I have them on. I usually find it in a project bag. But under the couch cushion is the first place I look to find stitch markers, darning needles and sometimes even scissors when I’ve misplaced them. 😊
I definitely am happy with the I cord border on my DK jelly roll. It takes awhile, but sure was worth the effort! I hear that the nifty new i cord tool that's been around instagram can be used to make borders, so maybe that's something to look into...
The unicorn is from Yarnable. I think there are some for sale on the site, still. Awesome socks for your nieces and for Wyatt. And Wyatt's sweater looks uh-mazing. I adore all your blankets. I'm working on a mitered square blanket and have plans for a jelly roll and a granny stripe to be started over the next couple of months because I have waaaaaaay too many scraps. I'll be following your tips on the Jellyroll. Have a great rest of the week.
Oh I got hacked 3 times after using skip the dishes. Always from China and the oddest names. Biggest amount was 220.00. Thank fully my card refunded all the times. Now we have the option to lock our cards. It still allows approved reoccurring charges to happen. It adds an extra step to unlock and relocate after I order something. Then again I have to stop and think before going through the effort. So it's saved me a bit as well. I'm doing a no spend March on my hobbies. It's my birthday at the end of the month (Big 5 0 😮). So saving for a special trip later this year. Your really enticing me to do a scrappy blanket. I haven't done one in a long time. I've got plenty of yarn scraps to get used up. ❤
I graduated from UK and the blue and white yarns are so goooooooood!!!! I might have to order some Cascade Heritage and make my whole fam some socks! All Cats Everyday! 😺
Oh Kay I love it when you’re in a talkative mood ❤😂. I really love making socks and scrappy blankets…thank you ❤. I also crocheted for many years before I started knitting. See you next week 😊
Wyatt's sweater is so handsome. Excited to see it. Love the blankets. It's funny you mentioned about getting back to what you love. Was watching Elli with Skeindeer Knits and she said you do the podcast for the knitting not the knitting for the podcast because then it's no fun, and I thought more people need to think the way you two do. Your own sense of self, creativity and love for the art just beams through. It's really nice when people are true to themselves and not what's popular per certain peeps. All the best, Kay! - Kimberly
Hi, Kay. Thanks for another fab episode. Was knitting along on my scrappy blanket. I don't live in the US, but your credit card provider will have a fraud department and they should be able to refund you. They can also check the IP address from which the transaction was made. That's the set up here in the UK, at least. Hope that helps. You hope they enjoyed their chicken. I'd be hoping they choked on it. I suppose that's where you and I differ. Ha ha
As always informative episode. I was surprised to hear about your experience with knitting socks in cascade Heritage . I used some left over from a cowl in 3 different pair of socks and found that it ends in a very drappy almost floppy fabric .
I just had almost the same thing happen with my airpods! I could see they were in the house, but couldn't connect or ping them. I went back to the old wired ones we had, and then while I was cleaning before my daughter's birthday party they turned up in the box of her bows and odds and ends that was on my nightstand. I had put them there so they wouldn't get knocked off the nightstand and get broken or lost under the bed 🙄
Ha! The AirPods! I’m glad you found your favorite pair and now you have extras! You’ve inspired me to start making magic knot balls to make a scrappy crochet blanket. I’ve started making tons of socks, and I need something to do with the scraps. I also need some more crochet in my life right now!
Oh my! My 2nd comment. It used to be that when I did something like your search for the EarPods, and got so annoyed with myself, I would say I was practicing for ‘old age’. Well, I’m there! I will be 73 soon. That’s my normal daily life. You just need to remember all the time you spent practicing. Clearly it was time well spent. Laugh and enjoy the free entertainment.
😂🤣 Yes! I definitely got a good laugh about it. I had to call my friend Jenni immediately and tell her and could barely get the words out for laughing 🤣
I love the girls’ socks. Adorable! I’ve had my VISA card hacked twice in the last 2 years. My credit union told me ETSY is in the top five for being hacked (I seldom shop there). It does make your world tipsy turbo for a few weeks.
Ha hahahahah! Thank you for this weeks video. I have, love and use your vanilla sock pattern and have done at least 4 pairs so far. Love it! Have 4 more cast on already and plan on more in the future. But this weeks video made me laugh out loud for real with the loss of your ear buds in the sectional couch. I have 3 kids and I cannot tell you how many times that exact thing happens on a daily basis here, but when it's your own thing and then replace and then find.....I had to chuckle for real. So relatable. The annoyance on your face is exactly how I feel every single time. Great video and looking forward to the next one! Have a great week!
I dream of the day I can knit socks. I need socks that have a WIDE top as I have swollen ankles. Someday maybe only in my dreams. Enjoy your videos very much.
Good morning hope you are having a good morning if I could be fast on making my socks I would be so happy but everything you do is very beautiful.i live in north Carolina. be blessed can't wait to see more.
❤morning kay🎉🎉 Awesme to catch up Love all ur blankets!! AND SOCKS ! 🧦 GLAD u found ur pods!!! WOW!!! What a nerve ordering foodin ur charge!!!!! Take care!! Elaine 🏠💗
Hi Kay, I’m knitting the DK jelly roll blanket using your mods. Thanks so much for documenting on your Ravelry page. Could you please tell me the length of your blanket and how many strips you are making. I tried to count them as you held up the blanket, but I’m not sure if I caught them all.
Those socks for your nieces looks great! They are very lucky to get socks from auntie Kay! I was wondering how many grams the socks for Henley ends up using? :) I have some opened skeins of fingering weight yarn and want to knit childrens socks with them, but I just don't want to end up running out and having to buy more, as I am trying to work from my stash :P
Hi Kay, I did finish off my jelly roll blanket using your icord technique. Also used your joining technique. Came out great. I did not make mine as big as yours. Just wanted it for my lap. I am Lia55 on ravelry if you want to see it. I did not block it. I like it nice and squishy the way it is.
Ha I remember miss placing my airpods last year. I searched everywhere, so I thought, and found them sometime later while doing laundry. I had them and dried them 😂
Sorry, Kay, I had to pause you. I live about an hour from Green Bay. Packers fans are a truly dedicated, devoted group of people. They are almost a recognized race. The colors are green and gold. So yes the other comment was correct. They are beautiful socks. Thank you for contributing to our loyal fans!
This made me chuckle. I am in Wausau and we have been here 20 years now and I still don’t understand how strong the packer love is. We are not big sports fans but we do watch futbol.
Everyone is different. Has different amounts of time, works at different speeds. I work on things any moment I can and take something to work on every time I leave the house.
The only problem with the 2 pairs of Green Bay socks for Christmas is that the football season will be almost over then. They'll have no Green Bay socks for all those games. Could they get them at back-to-school time?
I've started working my cozy memories blanket :D what's your favorite brand of coffee? I've been loving your posts on insta, you've been on a roll. I want to try to 9 inch circular sock pattern eventually. I want to get an advent calendar this year. You have gotten so far on the brown project. Oh my gosh your cozy memories blanket is looking amazing. Man look at that crochet blanket, wish I had that skill. I can't wait to see that Jelly roll. Check out the book The Night Swim by. Megan Goldin and The Writing Retreat by: Julia Bartz
I don’t really have a favorite brand. Right now I’m using Folgers Colombian. I have a few local coffee shops that have great coffee and sometimes we will splurge and get a bag of coffee from them to enjoy at home. But other than that I just usually have Folgers.
I’ve been ordering from Simply Sock Yarns for ages, about 15 years, and I have been once in person when we were in the area. They’re great! And if you need them to help you pick colors or get them to take pictures and talk to you in realtime you can call or email the shop and they will help.
The Simply Socks Yarn shop is my favorite online store for sock yarn!
Ya know, I'm not the biggest fan of scrappy blankets....but I am a fan of doing what you love and makes you happy and for that reason I enjoy hearing about/ seeing your scrappy blankets! Thanks as always; looking forward to hearing about 'the numbers' next week! 😊

I love this series! I listen to them on Audible.
I'm looking at your stash cabinet, as you said you HAD to order the yarn, thinking "Kay, are you SURE you don't have those colours in there?" 😂😂😂
Yep I’m sure! 😆 I don’t have a lot of solids.
Cute socks for your nieces and as always love love the scrappy blankets!!❤❤
I love Simply Socks. Good choice. If you ever get a chance to visit on one of the days the store is open, it's worth a trip to Ft. Wayne. The shop is an old post office transformed into one of the most glorious collections of color options in the area. Nice people, too.

The unicorn stopper is yarnable. May 2023. We also got the Unicorn Dreams Whipped Bath Soap that month and the yarn was named Unicorn Dreamscape.
Simply sock is my LYS and it's amazing in person. So many beautiful colors!!

Cascade sock is a great yarn. I really like the prints, also. And your Scrappy blankets are beautiful!
I am knitting my first pair of socks by your pattern and I love it. Using the 9 inch. After almost breaking my fingers, I am loving it now. Thank you for your patterns and videos. ❤

I'm sure your nieces would enjoy socks for that brighter cascade yellow yarn. Enjoy all your podcasts.
Your Jelly Roll looks fabulous Kay! My pattern does include details of how to add an icord border to finish 💖💖💖
Thats awesome!
The 'Love is Love' socks have worked up nicely! I'm sure the recipients will love them :)
Loving the blankets and beautiful yarn. Have a fabulous week ❤❤❤
Yes, use the more golden yellow for the Packer socks!
After losing earbuds in the charging case once, I knitted a small drawstring bag to put the case in. Just putting the earbuds in the tiny drawstring bag makes them so much easier to keep track of. Yes, the 5752 looks more like the Packer's yellow/gold. What a fun project!
I laughed over the ear pod story. When I was younger and lost something, I did the same thing, rip the room or house apart. My mom would always laugh and say " you'll find it when you stop looking". Wise woman 😂❤
😂🤣 yep!!
Love the sweater , I enjoy seeing the progress too. Love the jelly roll blanket. Cozy memories is Beautiful!!
Your absolute love for your scrappy projects is so inspiring! 😍 and I'm so happy you found your fav air pods - oh what joy!! I can relate 😂
Cute socks for your nieces.👍🧦 I love the scrappy blankets. 😊🧶
That is crazy amount of crocheting in your granny Square blanket. Good job🎉
I love Henley and Lily’s socks. Too cute. I know what you mean about getting through the yarn. 😊❤
Lovely video!! Every time I watch, I want to cast on so many socks for my grandkids right now…and the crochet blanket!!! You’re such an inspiration.
I love simply socks and their shipping is so fast to this area!
As always l, love the scrappy blankets! I totally understand the "how can you not work on cozy memories"... I am struggling to take a break from mine while i finish more socks and things to have leftovers!
I was very surprised at how fast their shipping was!! 🧶
Your scrappy blanklet is coming along beautifully ❤
Definitely use the more gold one for packers socks! ❤. Go packers!!! 😊
came here to say the same, go pack go!!
I am working on the Saven too and its been fun watching your progress too. I also do 1 repeat a day but started with the body. Good motivator to keep up with you.
I’m reading Never Lie right now. So good!
Oh that is scary on the credit card. Hope you got your money back.. I always thought cards on the apps were encrypted. that is so scary.. Love the video, socks, gorgeous blanket. I'm 3/4 done with my first sock ever, using your tutorial. Going to start the heel today. :O
All the scrappy blankets are fun. Makes me want to jump on the bandwagon. Thx for sharing.
Thank you for another great podcast, love all off the socks and scrappy blankets 😍. Last week I finished all of my Wip's 😱😱 that never happened to me before.
I now know to look there first🙂
Thank you for hanging out with us this morning. It made me happy to spend my morning knitting while catching up with you. ❤️.
The granny stripe blanket is epic! Love, love love!!!
Love all the socks. Your blankets will keep your family warm.
Woohoo! You found your AirPods! I’m always losing track of my case when I have them on. I usually find it in a project bag. But under the couch cushion is the first place I look to find stitch markers, darning needles and sometimes even scissors when I’ve misplaced them. 😊
😂🤣 I need to check mine more often apparently!

I love seeing the weekly progress on Wyatt's jumper. Your blankets are amazing. 🇬🇧
Oh Kay I love it when you’re in a talkative mood ❤😂. I really love making socks and scrappy blankets…thank you ❤. I also crocheted for many years before I started knitting. See you next week 😊

Oh I love that.. you do the podcast for the knitting and not the knitting for the podcast. Thats perfect!
She just mentioned it her recent episode 🥰@@CrazySockLady
You are amazing. Love seeing you and all of your progress. Thanks for sharing your life and making with us
hi i always enjoy watching you you sure are busy the most i can work on is 2 things
Having credit card issues is so annoying! I’m glad you got it straightened out.
Because of you I have become motivated to work on my scrap blankets a lot more ❤ I have way too much scraps its ridiculous 😂
Same here! 😂
Wow you really got a lot done on your scrappy projects!! The girl's socks are so cute!!
Your grams out for February are going to be insane! I can’t wait to hear your stats! 😆
Totaled it up today and it is a pretty epic #! 😂
Hi, Kay. Thanks for another fab episode. Was knitting along on my scrappy blanket. Yep, it’s all handled! ♥️
I love your nieces socks, beautiful colors. The sweater looks great. I love cable knitting. Thank you for sharing all your blankets as well.
I love watching you. I would pick the suggested yarn from your members
Love scrappy anothing. I have the coziest memeories blanket going and I just started a scrappy cardigan. So fun.
Love all the makes, but their is something about all of that scrappiness that just melts my heart. I can't get enough scrappiness.
Same!! 😍
5752 for Packer socks for sure!
As always informative episode. I was surprised to hear about your experience with knitting socks in cascade Heritage . I used some left over from a cowl in 3 different pair of socks and found that it ends in a very drappy almost floppy fabric .
What your gauge is can really make a difference.
Absolutely love your videos, thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊
That blue is so vibrant!!
Love the socks! I am planning on starting a scrappy blanket soon
Love your podcasts ❤ the unicorn 🦄 stoppers are from Yarnable. Came in one of the Summer boxes from last year!❤😊👍🏽
Ohh thank you!!! I was blanking on where they came from.
Love the videos and seeing all your projects!
😂 oh gosh!!
I'm knitting socks as I watch you. Your pattern, of course, DK weight #3 .
Thank you so much
Ha! The AirPods! I’m glad you found your favorite pair and now you have extras! You’ve inspired me to start making magic knot balls to make a scrappy crochet blanket. I’ve started making tons of socks, and I need something to do with the scraps. I also need some more crochet in my life right now!
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Sorry to hear that happened with your debit card, it’s such a stomach sinking thing go through! Glad you got it sorted out though. ❤
Your stitches are beautiful. When you do a close up I couldn’t help but notice. Very professional. ❤
I love the girls’ socks. Adorable! I’ve had my VISA card hacked twice in the last 2 years. My credit union told me ETSY is in the top five for being hacked (I seldom shop there). It does make your world tipsy turbo for a few weeks.
Great podcast thank you 😊
I just finished The Coworker and am starting The Teacher soon.
I read The Devil wears scrubs. It’s short, but I liked it.
What a lovely catch up. You are a delight!
♥️
Ha hahahahah! Thank you for this weeks video. I have, love and use your vanilla sock pattern and have done at least 4 pairs so far. Love it! Have 4 more cast on already and plan on more in the future. But this weeks video made me laugh out loud for real with the loss of your ear buds in the sectional couch. So relatable. The annoyance on your face is exactly how I feel every single time. Great video and looking forward to the next one! Have a great week!
🤣 I can somehow find my kids, and husbands, things so much easier than mine! 🤣
I love watching you. I’m just kitchnering 2nd toe of my first socks for 2024. May have cast on pair 2 last night. Am pleased as punch.

I haven’t measured the blanket. I’m not sure total strips off the top of my head but will definitely share when I finish the blanket.
Henleys socks usually take 40-45grams. Your gauge, shoe size being knit.. all that can change that.
I had them and dried them 😂
😂🤣 oh no!!
How do you knit and crochet so quickly? It takes me a month to make a pair of socks! 22:18
Everyone is different. Has different amounts of time, works at different speeds. I work on things any moment I can and take something to work on every time I leave the house.
😂😂😂"I hope they enjoyed their chicken"
I had the exact same thing happen at Panera! I no longer keep a credit card on an app.😊
So frustrating!! I definitely took the card off the app and won’t add it back on!
I love your DK jelly roll blanket! I have started one and I’m trying to decide how big to make it. What are the dimensions of yours?
Sorry, I haven’t measured it. 🧶
The only problem with the 2 pairs of Green Bay socks for Christmas is that the football season will be almost over then. They'll have no Green Bay socks for all those games. Could they get them at back-to-school time?
They will still wear them, and they will have them for the next season. 🧦
I don’t really have a favorite brand. Right now I’m using Folgers Colombian. I have a few local coffee shops that have great coffee and sometimes we will splurge and get a bag of coffee from them to enjoy at home. But other than that I just usually have Folgers.
