It's NEVER about "nostalgia". Anyone trying to brainwash you into thinking it's just that = immediate underaged moron who has never played anything older than themselves. I'm a few years older than you, and I've been online since the very Y2K days. Just about every single gaming community that still allows truly free speech agrees that gaming started declining HARD since ~2006, with the advent of the 7th console generation, that brought in the cancers like "casual gaming" and appealing to non-gamers, mobile gaming, always-online and thus the "games as service" phenomena, and the gradual death of physical media and overall creativity. These days, mainstream AAA games are nothing but sterile products, made to be as inoffensive and disposable as possible, designed only to rip people of their cash.
Dang u say it, every real gamer should at least one play that game. And even if many people don’t like the Third, I had a lot of fun with. But sure the OG one is special 👍
Really encourage you to play the second one as well once you finish this one. It does a lot of things better than the first (a few things worse as well, but that's corporate meddling for you) Skip the third one though, unless you really care about the story (you can play it with someone else to make the pain less painful, it is a co-op based single player game). It's very paperthin sadly.
The AI in F.E.A.R. is not necessarily sophisticated, but the level design certainly is. The AI in F.E.A.R. Extraction Point works the same way, but without good levels built around it, it doesn't seem that intelligent.
Exactly this, FEAR 2 also uses the same AI but due to the environments just not being built the same, it suffers for it. (That being said, the environments are so much more interesting and varied in 2)
Y'all keep saying that, but fail to admit most of the AI at the time was cookie-cutter in comparison. Sure, TODAY it's not sophisticated, but for the time it was.
Hard to believe that this came out in 2005. How has it been 20 years already? I wonder if this is the Steam version (that's the one I have, apart from the old-school disc version somewhere)?
They're all identical. You can manually patch them as well, like in the good old days. You may want to check the PC Gaming Wiki article for the game though, to fix issues like that tiny HUD on modern high resolutions.
The way I was SWEATING when this game came out it was so scary. The distinct lack of bullet-time fly-kicks in this video was disappointing haha. You should definitely finish this game and play the expansions for it, and then play F.E.A.R 2
I hate how graphics look in the majority of games now. Flat pastel look with no depth. Doom 3, Fear, Escape from Butcher Bay (og), Thief 3, Far Cry 1 and SC Chaos Theory are still impressive to this day.
2025 The game begins with a call to the senator. A female voice reports problems with the Source: “Riot. Fettel has taken over control of the prototypes." Armacham Technology was a weapons developer with a military program: an army of clone troopers subordinate to a commander who controlled them using telepathy. Paxton Fettel uses his telepathic abilities to take control of a battalion of clone troopers. Fortunately, to stop an armed conflict, it is enough to eliminate the commander - after this the clones will cease to act and will be absolutely safe. And finding Vettel won’t be difficult: he has a sensor implanted in his head that gives away his location. He will not have any protection; one of the conditions of the program is the safety of the commander; he does not fight along with the rest of the soldiers, but only controls them at a considerable distance. The protagonist of the game is the new operative officer “F. E.A.R.”
I'll always remember the first introduction to Paxton Fettel.

These days, mainstream AAA games are nothing but sterile products, made to be as inoffensive and disposable as possible, designed only to rip people of their cash.
Loved this as a kiddo, you should play FEAR2 as well
It was one of the first multiplayer games on ps3
This game has aged like a fiiiiiine wine.
Dang u say it, every real gamer should at least one play that game. And even if many people don’t like the Third, I had a lot of fun with. But sure the OG one is special 👍
Hell yea that’s right, hopefully they make another especially after the spiritual successor trepang but fear is on another level…
Really encourage you to play the second one as well once you finish this one. It does a lot of things better than the first (a few things worse as well, but that's corporate meddling for you)
Skip the third one though, unless you really care about the story (you can play it with someone else to make the pain less painful, it is a co-op based single player game). It's very paperthin sadly.
This gives the vibe of the chaotic lab scene from Cabin in the Woods
@@CuidightheachODuinn We all just reiterate what the develeoper in charge of AI himself said. 🤷♂
I thought this was a horror game for the longest time so i was too scared to play it.
It is. But it's also a great action game.
@@GugureSux Thanks!
That's criminal you've never played it til now.
The way I was SWEATING when this game came out it was so scary.
The distinct lack of bullet-time fly-kicks in this video was disappointing haha.
You should definitely finish this game and play the expansions for it, and then play F.E.A.R 2
Fear vs stalker
This game was a nightmare for me
Good luck, and get ready for fear and jump scare.
We misunderstood this guys. This was peak Sierra. After this and World in Conflict the company went under.
How have you not played FEAR? :/
Kraven is more fear than fear
I can't believe it's not butter.
the light effect look like global illumination very early version
I hate how graphics look in the majority of games now. Flat pastel look with no depth. Doom 3, Fear, Escape from Butcher Bay (og), Thief 3, Far Cry 1 and SC Chaos Theory are still impressive to this day.
Jump + melee = spinning jump kick
This was crisis before crisis
If you liked Fear, you should definitely check out Area 51 on the PS2.
You should try starship troopers extermination, it’s kind of like FPS Helldivers
There is 2-3 standalone games for the first game if you liked it
They dont make them like this anymore.
Play FEAR 2, it's even better
Fuck no, it's not. F2-3 were prime example of the 7th gen casual console trash, and they KILLED the franchise.
Been wanting to play for ages. But last i checked its not available in xbox store. N ive only got a digital series s 😢
The whole FEAR Series was $5 on Steam during the Winter Sale before January 2nd. Currently playing FEAR 1 right now! So damn good!
Get a PC, ya moran. Console gaming has been utter cancer the past 15 years.
@@GugureSux thanks big spaz. What would I do without you 💔
i wanted to buy this game recently
I better try it too
I haven’t played it either.
Always slightly amusing to see how "younger" gamers handle features like the ability to lean as they start by leaning and strafing out of cover
What our enemies in this game?ghost or human
Wait til you get the Rail Gun
