    Georgetown is the capital and largest city of Guyana. It is situated in Demerara-Mahaica, region 4, on the Atlantic Ocean coast, at the mouth of the Demerara River. It is nicknamed the "Garden City of the Caribbean." It is the retail, administrative, and financial services center of the country, and the city accounts for a large portion of Guyana's GDP. The city recorded a population of 118,363 in the 2012 census.
    All executive departments of Guyana's government are located in the city, including the Parliament Building, Guyana's Legislative Building, and the Court of Appeals, Guyana's highest judicial court. The State House (the official residence of the head of state), as well as the offices and residence of the head of government, are both located in the city. The CARICOM headquarters is also based in Georgetown.
    Georgetown is also known for its British colonial architecture, including the tall painted-timber St. George's Cathedral and the iconic Stabroek Market.[1]

      Yes, St. Martin is very beautiful. I was there a couple f times in the 90’s, but I heard there are a lot of Guyanese are there and they are destroying the place. The islanders were indeed very nice people. I love the Dutch side. My mom was Dutch.

      John, Georgetown is a crazy town and fun.
      The hotel I'm currently staying at is the El Dorado, in the heart of the city. It's also a good area as there are many Embassies in this location, so lots of security.

      I would not advised anyone to take a trip back to this hell hole. I left 55 years ago. I went back in 1971, 1975, and 2000. They keep putting up new restaurants and houses maybe 6-7 years ago that’s it. You can’t walk nowhere. The pick pocket are all over the City. They are snatching your things such as purses , chains, cell phones and everything that is visible to the eye. I did not go back with any of those things, but they can spot you from a distance. My Mom was from Holland and I have a few relatives in Suriname. I had a returned ticket to fly back from Suriname to Guyana and on to Canada. I did not want to go back through Guyana so I bought another ticket from Cayenne to Suriname then to Miami then to Canada. I thank God for bringing me back alive. Go visit somewhere else in South America. Some of the other Islands are even worst and very dirty and smelly. You have to hold your nose, but you have nicer Islands like Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, BVI, US Virgin Island, St. Lucia, Bermuda and Nevis, St. Barts, Turks & Caicos, Barbuda, Monsterrat, Cuba, Puerto Rico, St. Martin on the French side and a few other Island. Guyana is not an Island so you will think because it is in South America it would be very beautiful, but wrong.

      I’m sorry to hear. I was last there in 2000 and found it safe but structural was in its infancy. But these incidents happen in all big cities so one has to use common sense and walk with caution , I Know one should feel relaxed but this is reality. Hopefully when I visit in June I will be aware of my environment but I will enjoy with friends and family. Sorry you had not such a good experience.

      This is Guyana but don't be misled. This area had a little flood days before so the water was going down. This video was taken at the most congested area in the whole country. And this area isn't even a dot in the capital muchless the country to say this is is video of GUYANA. It's only 3 streets out of about over 100 streets in Georgetown only. If he had walked one more corner.... Ppl get me so mad when they post these lazy videos because they walk 2 streets trying to make it look like the whole country is congested. He probably went home and told people I survived Guyana. When all along he was enjoying the fine dining in and fancy hotels and other activities. Lol

  • @timolynb.guyanas.a589
    @timolynb.guyanas.a589 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is not..... Guyana. This video is just 3 streets in Georgetown/GT (GT has over 100 streets not shown in this video) on a busy market day at the bus park which I agree is disorganized and you'll come across many attitudes, many languages, many moods, sounds, conversations in that lovely tiny area in his video. Water was now going down also because rains had flooded those streets but nothing keeps Guyanese from a good sale. And people are nice to him. Consider this the park is only 3 streets in GT out of over 100. GT is in Region 4. Region 4 is about the size of Trinidad and larger than every other Caribbean country. Then consider GUYANA has 10 Regions. If people were stupid enough to believe this is the whole Guyana lmao. But I will admit this is an exciting video. Our country is lovely and lively. Guyana nice. Notice when he reached the end the area clears up? 🇬🇾 visit Guyana. You are missing out. ❤

    How can you Vlog his Country. It is a total disgraced to visit there much less live in a place like that. This is nauseating for dogs much less human being. If I showed anyone of my friends these vloggers that are showing people only some of the good parts of Guyana and then telling them life can’t get better than this. They will think you just got released from some mental Institution . I can hear the people swearing as loud as possible. How can you bring up kids in such environment. Everywhere you can see vendors selling, you can’t even walk on the side walks or on the roads. Somebody ought to do something about these places. There are beach umbrellas everywhere on the streets and the places are so filthy. The entire market place should be rebuilt. If this is in the heart of the city where the visitors are all trying to take snap shots of the down town core to see the downtown sectors. There are so much garbage everywhere you turned, the streets where they vendors are selling the fruits and vegetables are covered with flies flying all over the foods.
