Wow a trip down memory lane for me! Grew up on Kerper street between algon and Summerdale!

Nice job! I know pretty much everything you showed in the video. Nothing like N.E Philly in the 60’s and 70’s. I grew up by Vogt Playground. Back in the day Roosevelt Mall, Pennypack Park, or Vogt Pool was the place to be. Or,... the Country Club Diner, Mayfair Diner, or any number of great places. Great times that will never be repeated.

@@jipsees1908 I grew up in Tacony and went to NE High before we moved to Bensalem. Our neighborhoods were good and solid then. We never worried about much and could spend time at Roosevelt Mall or anywhere between the Delaware River and Burlholme Park without a care in the world.
I still go through our old stomping grounds and still have some friends there. Things have changed drastically, and not for the better. Shootings and stabbing are common and people on the streets are rare. You can walk down most blocks and not find one kid playing outside. It was quite the opposite when I was a kid.

When people owned their homes in this neighborhood it was taken care of and kept clean and safe. Once section 8 happened and the renters started coming in....And I'm putting it nicely saying renters, people stop taking care of the property and it went downhill within 10 years... Big difference in that area between 1975 at 1985.

@@vincentzito3933 its true and no one says it lol, my italian family lived in olney/nicetown/mt airy from the 30-70's then the neighborhood got dark and everything went to shit, hard to imagine now that north philly had a lot of italians at one point
