Love your short and sweet videos. Crazy to see Austin as my grandparents lived there.

Thanks man! I’m actually in Austin right now. Truly bonkers the amount of new and nice multi family housing. Could be a bargain soon with all the new supply.

I’ve been here for over 40 years and I am appalled. The loss to the Hispanic and Black communities in East Austin is immeasurable. The social fabric was destroyed so privileged Whites can live in “luxury” condos. There should have been affordable housing built in excess of the displaced population, but virtually none was built. All we got was empty promises

This is definitely not an Austin specific issue. What about all of the long time lane owners in East Austin that were paid a pretty penny for their property? It’s hard to stake claim to an area if you’re just renting.

It's awesome to see Austin urbanizing. There are still tons of 1 story businesses downtown that should be mixed use with housing over them due to the huge demand to live there. More housing downtown means less traffic-causing exurban sprawl elsewhere.

Austin is really a mess. The densification is good but the lack of public transit is going to be a killer.

I don’t think they’re going about it the right way. We will see how it goes

Seattle will be interesting to see. The amount of gentrification that's happened in the past couple decades there is kind of insane. Pretty much the whole south lake union area is new development due to the tech boom. The new light rail expansion plans in the future could also have an affect on the trend of gentrification in the future (though the light rail expansion is undoubtedly a good thing). Interesting videos

Thanks, Henry. I’m excited to explore Seattle. I’m very bullish on Seattle becoming the next great big American city. It has just the right combination of politics and climate to absorb more people and become more dense.

Good example of what happens when tech comes to town. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to the next one on Seattle since I live nearby and have seen what gentrification does to a city.

The biggest problem is that Austin's NIMBYs have restricted housing for decades and left us unprepared to handle the influx of new residents. We have to build more housing (apartments, duplexes, triplexes, etc), or else it will only continue to get worse.

@@dilliam1702 you’re not wrong. Public transit is a major issue as well.
