Catching COHO Salmon in Saltwater Shallow Water Using Anchovies & Herring

- Coho (silver) salmon are absolutely voracious and aggressive towards bait when they are still in their saltwater environments. Unlike Chinook (kings) they tend to feed near the surface and are caught in shallow water. In this episode of FHN On-The-Water Duane goes fishing and discusses tactics for fishing Marine Waters - just out of Westport Washington.
They're running fire-brine chartreuse and natural colors on herring, as well as a 360 Brads Revolutionary flasher with anchovie. Both are working! Takedowns are happening and fish are getting caught (and a few lost which is how it goes!)
You'll see how the different brines perform and look - along with some anise scents which works fantastic for fresh Coho. In this case, they're preferring smaller baits like anchovies and red-label herring. Using a "helmet" for the herring and anchovies prevents grass and vegetation from messing up the baits. The colored brines work very well in these marine environments and you can tell from the number of takedowns they're getting.

Hey Duane, your port side folbe is backwards. It should open towards the bow. I'm sure it was just an oversight. I've seen rods lost over the side when they pop open. Great video.

Great question... Pricing going into 2023 has increased so It's impossible to know where that cost is now. Best thing to do is contact Defiance Marine and ask about the Allied 21' Mustang HT. Talk to Stephen, he can answer all your questions..
