With the smaller sections, you can do a half turn or like a “c” motion where you kind of scoop the hair into the direction you want it to curl.

not sure if anyone has said this but i think part of the hair problem is the thickness of your hair or the way the top is cut to look kind of thin. with the jellyfish hairstyle i think a thick “bowlcut” top and smaller braids on the bottom looks soooo cool, but the top to bottom ratio of your haircut i think is the issue. i would cut more off the bottom to thicken up the top so you have more to poof on top and have the extra on the bottom be thinner so its easier to curl or make into cute braids if you also like that styling

I’m also not constantly thrifting.
