- Matt Rhule took to the stage in Lincoln on Saturday to provide winter updates on the Nebraska football program. We’re here in the aftermath with reaction.
Rhule addressed the topics on the minds of most fans. What’s happening with the special teams coordinator position? Rhule is not sounding alarms about the Huskers’ special teams play as a whole in 2024. Connor and Mitch expect that conversation to evolve as the offseason continues. Rhule got into his thinking about the spring game, which likely isn’t happening in 2025. And he went a direction with the spring topic that some may not have expected.
Also, there was lots of talk about the roster. How do the Huskers get to 105? When do they have to be there? And what are the considerations being made within the 105 as Nebraska continues to go through this cutdown? Finally, an injury update. Yes, the O-line remains a MASH unit.

The answers provided about ST give me an indication that Rhule doesn't have a plan for fixing the problem, and that gives me less faith in his ability to improve the team overall. Sounds like one more year of football purgatory for Nebraska.

I feel like you can only do so much on special teams. There is only so much scheme (Minus frank beamer). I think the personnel that has been addressed already through the portal is the overhaul. Ed Foley just got the proverbial ax because of crappy players.
So, you want to hear Ruhle articulate the special teams issue?
Does someone have to go outside every day and report back to you that the sun sets in the west and rises in the east?
I have an idea. You two should bring these other special teams concerns to the coaches.
