I LOVE Jungle Jim's! Trouble is, I always buy $200 of stuff I don't need there. I love that you showed the "porta-potties". My son was fooled by those the first time we visited! They look like one-person stalls from the outside, and he just saw someone go in, so he refused to even try to open the door. The look on his face when two different people came out was priceless! ;)
Here in 🇬🇧, tea is the go-to in a crisis. Coffee is...OK but doesn't really cut it for calming things down. I admire your honesty but there was a collective gasp of shock at your admission. American life is getting to you. You'll be going to the Other Side...
@@stephenphillip5656 Coffee = amp things up Tea = calm things down? I only drink tea when I don't want much caffeine, but I can see how it's more of a cultural habitual thing seen as the thing to do to calm things down. That said, if I'm looking to drink something to calm down, it's more likely to be a good Scotch instead of tea!
Watching my husband (a Yorkshireman) react to this video has absolutely made my day. So thank you for that 😂 We have been to the other Jungle Jim's location a fair bit but he spotted some stuff this one has that he's been missing! Gonna be making the extra 30 minute drive out to that one now.
I noticed you said "trolley", whereas most Americans probably say "shopping cart". In Tennessee (and probably elsewhere in the south), people call it a "buggy".
Sweet! My favorite newly found TH-camr visited my hometown! I live 10 minutes from this place. It’s interesting to see how much of a destination it is when it’s just the local grocery store for me.
So fun to watch a tuber from my neck of the woods. Born in Indiana, visited Chicago many times and live now near Cincinnati. There are actually two jungle jims. Hope you had a chance to go to the new one, which is more elaborate than the original.
People usually flip out over the Porta-Potty restrooms at Jungle Jim's, then they open the doors, and discover that they're actually a fake facade with a full sized normal restroom inside. It's pretty hilarious to watch.
Fun fact: the monorail track outside used to work and would transport people from the parking lot to the building, the monorail trains are from the nearby amusement park Kings Island which used to use them in the 1970s!
One of the biggest surprises is the prices are not actually that bad, and comparable to local grocery chains. *This isn't a whole foods.* The things that are more pricey is the imported items or premium items. But, again you'd pay that extra anywhere, often more. Like, I often stock up on coffee flavor syrups. For slightly more than a 12oz bottle at Walmart, I can get 24oz glass bottles there. The biggest drain on the wallet is there simply being too many good things in a concentrated space.
Jungle Jim's is an awesome market! We love going there. Their selection of international fruit is amazing n I always learn something new. They could make the Irish section a bit larger but then, being Irish I would say that same for Holland. Their natural food section is great too, and allllll the candy!!!!!
I just came across this video, I LOVE Jungle Jim's. I was born in and grew up in that area, lived within a 15 minute drive. Happy to see you had a chance to visit and dig it as much as I do. I live 3+ hrs away now, but stop in every chance I get as I still have family in the area.
Love Jungle Jim's. Our daughter went to The Art Academy of Cincinnati and we always stopped when we went for a visit. Thanks for this brought back some memories. I usually got some of those biscuits and several different types of tea. They have several good brands of mead not just wine too.
Jungle Jims is like a tourist destination. People go there just to look around. In the fresh fish section, they will actually grab a fish out of the tank and clean it for you while you shop for other stuff.
Even more if you see two giant silos behind the Chinese goods you can walk up stairs and see into the tanks that they actually raise some of the fish they sell.....as fresh as they come.
Fear not, I spend plenty of dollars converted to pounds between my Spode collection, the Majesty magazine, and tea from twining.uk I’m waiting on an order now because they don’t offer their entire stock to the twinnings.us customers. As if we don’t like all that tea too. ☹️

The Flake bar is a tremendous bar! Definitely one of my favorites! I ordered a box of these years ago from AMAZON UK, then had an epiphany. . . Why pay what I paid, when I bet Jungle Jim's down the road has them! Anyway, next I shall try the Milky Bar. . . keep being Awesome!

Jabber 1974 yeah but stereotypes are something you either embrace or reject, love or hate and the British really have taken it to our hearts to such an extent no-one would recognise Britain without it
I just started following your channel recently and went to this video because we used to shop in that Jungle Jim’s. Now we’ve moved to south of Indianapolis and don’t have anything like that. I think I used to work in a town very near where you live. I worked in Carmel, the town with an obscene number of traffic circles.
You are right. To a certain extent anyway, it must be coffee or tea. I have written here before about marrying into a British family. (I am a Californian.) My wife's parents and extended family all came here. Most of them could slug down pots and pots of coffee all day. Then go upstairs to bed. No caffein problem. They seemed immune. They enjoyed a proper cup of tea on special occasions. Both their coffee and tea were good. I enjoyed the way Mum made them. By the way, I had several experiences with ordering coffee in New Jersey restaurants. On the subject of how we like certain drinks, this is. I like my coffee with milk and sweetener. In a NJ restaurant order your coddee with the words, COFFEE REGULAR. They will bring it to you all ready fixed up. They always got it right. Very enjoyable.
If I had discovered you then, I too would have popped over. I love Jungle Jim's; my family and I love to come by every few monrhs and spend the day (and lots of money!) there; it's a foodie's paradise! Did you get a chance to check out the meat section?? Buffalo, rabbit, venison, and (the one I want to try first) alligator! The people who work there are friendly and really helpful, and once when I asked someone about a foreign fruit (I think it was from Vietnam), he cut it open and gave me a slice so I could see exactly what it tasted like! Great place; if you come back, let us know and maybe we can say hello!
LOVE Jungle Jim's, but I can never get out of there under $300.00! My son-in-law's parents live right around the corner. Can't wait to go back! Thanks for the little tour.
I wish I'd known! I work there and would have loved to show you around! Oh, you went to the Fairfield location. I work at the other store in Eastgate (there are 2 in the area). So glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet! I didn't know you went here. I used to go to the one in Eastgate all the time before I moved out to South Dakota. I wish they would expand west.
We had a small shop called Best of Britain, the owner has since retired but I threw a William Wedding Tea and bought most of my items there. It was excellent and my friends were impressed.
in Australia, we eat some of the same things as people in the UK do. so we would go down the UK aisle to get things you usually get in Australia that are not comen in the USA, like a flake, aero, milk chocolate, tea, digestive biscuits and more. so we do not need 2 aisles, we would just use the UK aisle to find what we want.
I love both tea and coffee. In my home in Houston, tea and buttered toast was hands down the snack of choice daily. But morning is just not right without a good coffee.
When I was a boy, I remember that we always had either Hartley's or Chiver's marmalade for our bread and English muffins. British marmalade is made with Seville oranges and is not as sweet as American marmalade which is made from Valencia oranges. Unfortunately, it is much more expensive than years ago(we are retired).

Here in Calgary, we have foods from other countries but they tend to be in different ethnic stores. Ribena was easy to find. With Vimto, in a Scottish/Irish shoppe, they were sold in cans; in a shoppe selling Middle Eastern foods, they were in bottles.
Dude!!! Wish I'd known you were in my town 2 years ago!! I'd have introduced you to "Cincinnati Chili" (Cincinnati-Style Greco-American Hot Dog Sauce).
Laurence, you lost yourself for a moment and went full-on Brit! You called the shopping cart a trolley! Your eyes were bugging out of British chocolates and I thought you might cry at the site of real biscuits! Very cute. BTW I live sort of close to Jungle Jim's. I pass the one at Williamsburg, Oh on the way to my son's. In a Cincinnati suburb.
I would love to have some of the pickled things and is Heinz from England? Also I was born in the deep south and I have a cup of coffee every morning and drink tea throughout the rest of the day every day, sorry if that's confusing, if I had to choose only one it would definitely be my tea ❤️
American here. I'm late to the party on this video, but this store looks fascinating. The closest thing we have to this in Michigan is a World Market, which makes me happy, since my discovery of the Mars bar. They're much better than a Milky Way, in my opinion!
Something that you currently have in the Midwest that most of the U.S. and the rest of the world does not is Meijer (or for many living here, Meijers). Founded in Michigan, Meijer is the alternative to Walmart that is not Target/Super Target. Meijer has an international food section. Some of them are much larger than others, but there is a section for British foods.

Did they have HP Brown sauce? Wegman’s here in upstate NY carries it. My father’s been eating it for years ever since he had it on a Bridie at the Scottish festival!
I live near Jungle Jims... I just went there for a "few things" and spent $200 (and was only there 30 minutes). They are wrapping up the Fairfield Location expansion. We will now have Greeter's Ice Cream. The Fairfield has their bathroom in the middle of the alcohol section. Never been to the Eastgate/Cincinnati location as I prefer the original in Fairfield.
There was a small supermarket chain which is now defunct here in California called Fresh and Easy. They had a British food section I loved to browse.Cost Plus World Market is THE place to indulge in foreign delights.I don't know if it nationwide or not.
Now I need a trip to jungle Jim’s to wander thru the English food. I live about 5 miles away and only go about twice a year. I got 4711 perfume there years ago but they dont have it lately
Jungle Jim's and BBC give me all the British things I can afford. :)) I'm not a traitor, I just love their TV shows, accents, sense of humor, food, and most importantly, they don't smile at each other for no reason.

Here in Calgary, we have foods from other countries but they tend to be in different ethnic stores. Ribena was easy to find. With Vimto, in a Scottish/Irish shoppe, they were sold in cans; in a shoppe selling Middle Eastern foods, they were in bottles.
You were in my backyard! OK, not literally but you know what I mean. I love Jungle Jim's and usually try to go there every couple weeks.
Small world! I wish I could afford to go there every couple of weeks.
I remember this video (which just popped up in my feed). It was the one that introduced me to Lost in the Pond.
This was a good video..."for anyone who understands life and good decision making". So true.
Fun store. All kinds of hard to find foods items. Found some very good cheese & wine.
this is the coolest store ever. I wish we had a place like this here in San Diego, ca. I would love to try some of this.
I would love to have some of the pickled things and is Heinz from England? Also I was born in the deep south and I have a cup of coffee every morning and drink tea throughout the rest of the day every day, sorry if that's confusing, if I had to choose only one it would definitely be my tea ❤️
I love those flake bars too. They are sold in Canada and I love the way they fall apart in your mouth.
When I visit my daughter going to Jungle Jim’s is a must!
Funny I stumbled on this video today. I was just at Jungle Jim's yesterday so a friend of mine to stock up on English chocolates haha.
When you come to Tulsa Oklahoma you should visit the White Lion Pub.. English style pub
American here. I'm late to the party on this video, but this store looks fascinating. The closest thing we have to this in Michigan is a World Market, which makes me happy, since my discovery of the Mars bar. They're much better than a Milky Way, in my opinion!
they need one of those here in Boise, Idaho! I bet I'd love Jungle Jims!
Jungle's is my favorite store. I live in Fairfield, Ohio where the adventure is located. BTW....Didn't you look up while standing under Robin's Oak in the britcandyaisle...JUNGLE'S IS A MAD INVENTOR and a bit of a wizard. Art...ya gotta show the artistry
Did they have HP Brown sauce? Wegman’s here in upstate NY carries it. My father’s been eating it for years ever since he had it on a Bridie at the Scottish festival!
I live near Jungle Jim’s and I LOVE the British section!
I live near Jungle Jims... I just went there for a "few things" and spent $200 (and was only there 30 minutes). They are wrapping up the Fairfield Location expansion. We will now have Greeter's Ice Cream. The Fairfield has their bathroom in the middle of the alcohol section. Never been to the Eastgate/Cincinnati location as I prefer the original in Fairfield.
loved going to that place when i was a child, and visit when ever i go and visit ohio.
I love coffee and tea. I've had tea with milk and also with lemon, (not together). You can have it all.
New Subscriber here :-) A brit without Tea in his " Buggy" . Wow...That's a first !!! Hello from Florida!!!
Marmite sounds like a cute, furry little animal like a meerkat. Who would want to eat that! 😂
