    Great advice for transitioning from GarageBand to Logic. The drums capabilities in Logic are truly mindblowing, no other DAW comes anywhere near. The ability to use your own samples in the kits can be very handy.

    These GB to Logic videos are really helpful. I haven’t made the switch yet but I’m seeing many reasons I would want to. I’m still a bit afraid since I’ve been working with GB for 8 years now. But these help me see the efficiencies I can gain. Thanks Colin!

      I'm glad they're helpful, Tom! I know from the songs I've heard after you went through the mixing course that you're a PERFECT candidate to switch to Logic! Also, that course is going to be getting more Logic content added (for free) this year 🤫

    I found Logic so complicated because I learned everything on GarageBand. But you’re a literal hero in conversation and explanation. I’ll give credit for my first single lol. This helped me so fucking much. Thank you.

    still a fledgling at the DAW world but just starting to dabble with Logic. very helpful info. using the bus for effects is great and additionally allows you to EQ the effects. thanks man.

    Hi Colin, another great video, thank you. I’ve discovered so much about GarageBand over the years thanks to you. I had a version of Logic years ago on an old MacBook but it got “lost”. Seriously considering getting it again (finances have improved for me recently) and this video had definitely helped nudge me towards it.

    I've been following you for so long and finally made the switch to Logic. Please, please, please do some tutorials on Logic mixing. If you could do a series on a complete mix of a song like you did for GB - static mix, eq&comp, etc. - step by step showing the Logfic plugins you use and your technique that would be AMAZING!!!!

    Great stuff! Also - a great crossfade shortcut for tracks with lots of cuts (like vocals) is highlight then control+option+X. And you can you can adjust any length you like (I mostly use 6ms)

    One thing I’m loving about switching is even after months I still haven’t looked through all the stock plugins and vsts and loops. It’s MASSIVE!🎉
    Fun thing I recommend for people is to just open a new instrument track and choose any synth, in the top left area near the power button the arrows will let you sift through presets or you can click on the name and pick them out! I’ve spent hours before just tweaking presets/patches, so fun. Then you can also save the tweaks you made as a new patch and have your own unique sounds to create a template with! 🙏

    GarageBand (with Colin's guidance) is excellent for learning the basics and keeping the distractions to a minimum. That being said, I wish I'd have upgraded to Logic earlier to get the five things mentioned here. I was afraid it would be a resource hog on my Intel MacBook but I see literally no issues with performance and the workflow improvements are a huge time saver.

    so I have loaded logic and taken a project across for a bit of a play. I think the use of buses is the foreign thing at the moment so a beginners guide on using buses either fro scratch or with Gb projects would be great.

    For years I tried to bring my songs from Garage band to Logic. They all sounded like clicks and buzzes. Musictechelpguy
    figured out my dilemma. Change the buffer size. I was moving a complete song into Logic with the standard buffer size of 32.
    I know for sure you had to do that with the song you just showed us.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's very interesting! I had never heard of that specific issue. I didn't manually set it for this song, but I typically keep mine at the highest buffer size unless I'm recording, so it was probably already set pretty high.

    This is great stuff to help a garage bander make the move which I am about to do! I have a question about my 3rd party plugins that I installed on Gb (including Waves which we have just about forgiven...). Can I bring them across to Logic easily and if so how?

  • @JohnmasRecords
    @JohnmasRecords ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh one more question. The plug-ins that I’ve purchased through Waves will also work on Logic?

    Hi Colin, thanks for this. One of the things I noticed when I open a GB project with LP is that there is no Stereo Out track. I noticed that on you example as well. There is a Master Track but no Stereo Out. Are they the same?

  • @Jacques-HubertConstant

    I noticed every time I open a GB song into logic a delay between the drummer region and the rest of the song (in Logic). I now easily correct this by adding a negative delay to the Logic Drummer Regions (between -120 et -160 tics setting) . I know now this but I spent a long time to find a way to fix it...
    Did you already experienced this ?

    • @TheBandGuide

    Great video, really helpful, but please talk a little slower, would be easier when trying to take it in, rather than watching several times, viewers just think nah, stay with who i normally watch, shame really. Try explaining the why and the how a bit more slowly, and maybe a bit more in depth, would make your channel the go to for help and support 🙂👍
