    Correction: there are so many coffee/breakfast places in Accra! Please inform yourself so you can give people the right information. E.g. there are so many Vida e Caffes all over, there's Cafe Kwae, there's James Town Coffee Roasters, there's Breakfast to Breakfast....so you see, you don't necessarily have to buy coffee to make it at home!

    Hello Afrikan Traveller, welcome to my country Ghana, we embrace you! Glad you are enjoying your stay, and great Nappie is looking after you. I've been to Nairobi, Kenya, and your country is beautiful - the infrastructure is dope, and yes the culture of drinking tea, coffee is the norm there. We are all one Africa, and so am happy that more Africans are traveling across the continent to experience similar yet different cultures. Indeed, each country regardless of the level of development is unique and beautiful in its own way, with lots to offer. I have subscribed to your channel, I love your style of vlogging and your friendly and warm personality. Enjoy the rest of your stay in sunny Ghana.

    Wow. All my life I have been doing comparisons of African countries based on GDP...my goodness, how wrong I have been! Accra is neat, beautiful, and just the place to be at. Well-planned. And they seem to not have been affected by the land-grabbing that has affected Nairobi's aesthetics.

    • @kuuku006
      @kuuku006 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You're correct in your self-realisation. Per-capita GDP does not reflect wide disparities of income and wealth. To a large extent, per-capita GDP measures the progress made by affluent urban people and makes the public believe that everybody is involved, even though the lives of poor people may not have changed much or perhaps even got worse. According to UNU-WIDER (World Institute for Development Economics Research), the bottom 50 % account for less than ten percent of national income in Africa, while the top ten percent account for more than 50 %.

      Let's say Accra is developing faster now. She still has to catch Nairobi, which has been one of the most modern African cities. I grew up in Accra, but I am still amazed at how fast it is developing. I have not been there in 7 years. There is no need to compare such cities. London for example might not be one of the most glamorous European cities, but she can hold her own on many things. I still really don't like this emphasis on glitz. We need to develop where most of our poor people live. They don't need much, but decent and basic infrastructure.

    • @chillymonin4760
      @chillymonin4760 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yawos9024 I absolutely agree. I live in Nairobi and the beauty of Nairobi is no longer in the Central Business District but mostly in its suburbs. The measure of development should touch all sectors equally hence the need to upgrade both business and private dwellings equally including planned and serviceable residential infrastructure. Cities such as Addis Ababa just bloomed in a short period and still growing at a fast pace. All these developments are very good and Africa needed them badly, they should take into account all sectors of society. I think Kigali planned well.

    Who is the richest Ghanaian remains a mystery oo, which is why Nappie couldn't say for sure. Ghana's rich try to keep a low profile. Some say it has historical roots in the 'culture of silence' created by the Rawlings military regime, which accused Ghana's rich of being economic saboteurs, and clamped down on them heavily. Some ran into exile those days. Although names like Ibrahim Mahama, Kwame Despite and Sir Sam Jonah often come up, it's largely speculative in terms of their ranking.

    great to see Accra developed so much! I was there many many years ago, I can say decades ago. too bad you couldn't fly your drone in those areas it'd be nice to see all those big houses from above. if you get the time, ask Nappie why he didn't take you to Acapulco. I must say, you've inspired me to get a drone. you'll see me here in the very near future. safe travels.
