I'm disappointed that you didn't let him know you were virtual....I hate the idea that he thought he had ruined your day with his deletion. Why give him satisfaction ?
+Grinder-one I feel like he probably realized when he couldn't find anything to delete. Maybe some people have barebones computers with username; user. But no icons,no documents, nothing but essentials in C: ? He has to have known.
+Grinder-one It would have been way better if he called them out and pointed out how stupid they were for not noticing that he knew beforehand. They should have noticed that something was up from the fact that he was extremely calm, the computer was running Windows XP, it had no significant antivirus installed, and from the ridiculous form information that he entered into the fields. From that, it is very obvious that this person knew what was going on and that he was just humoring them. Personally, I would have insulted them for their lack of an ability to reason and notice that I knew it was a bullshit scam and that I ran a VM to screw with them.

***** It's slang for an easily-compromised machine that is actually a trap; such as what this guy is doing here. It's sort of like a 'bait car'; the police leave a car sitting in a parking lot, unlocked and with the key in the ignition. If someone steals it, the police take over the car by remote control and arrest the thieves. Similarly, a honeypot system might be left with an intentionally misconfigured firewall, or a very poor password, and be configured to secretly log or display whenever someone attempts to breach it. Or, as the fellow in the video did, invite a party known to be malicious into the machine, then secretly record his actions.
This happened to my stepfather last week. He is elderly and didn't understand what was happening. Unfortunately they cheated him out of $199 for a worthless "lifetime" warranty. There was nothing wrong with his computer. He must have inadvertently installed a browser add-in or similar malware causing the system to produce a fake "security warning" with a "support" telephone number to call. I have to believe there's a special place in hell for people like this.
My mom almost fell for this, they kept demanding her husband talk to them - she said he was asleep and they demanded she go wake him up! She let these guys remote-connect, but yanked the plug as soon as they demanded money and told them to call back the next day, in order to buy time and ask me. When they phoned back (with that distinctive double ring) I called the guy an asshole scammer, blasted him several times with a marine-grade pea whistle, asked if he enjoyed that and he said, "Yes I did enjoy that, now can we..." and I hit him a few more times. Finally told him I had IT certification and knew my way around computer (BS on the former, latter true) and he told me, "Sir, you and your IT certification can go fuck yourselves!" and hung up.
Something similar happened to my mom. I was at her house when they called, and I heard her in the other room going through the process. She was about to tell them her team view ID when I snatched the phone, and started singing "Gangsters Paradise" by Coolio. They hung up.
Aaron M Beautiful. They're fun to screw around with. I haven't tried, but I've read that if you get one of the male ones and you throw a few personal insults at him, in some cases he'll start shouting really nasty things back, dropping all pretense of what little professionalism he previously had. I love my whistle (it's quite painful, and I loved the guy who asked for more) but I'm tempted to try singing to them. Maybe a luuuuve song in my best (terrible) Barry White impression...
They called me.. I turned it around on them.. lol. I told them my computer was telling me they have viruses on their system, and I tried selling them my antivirus program called "Go away twat virus" lol and they hung up. Almost closed the deal.. dammit..
You know, these scams are aimed to people who doesn't know how a computer works outside of double-clicking something opens it, so he could also delete explorer.exe and desktop.ini and the desktop folder and these users would not be able to use their computer anymore
***** For the people these scams are aimed to, it is already enough. Or they might get scared to use a computer, or they will try to get help on the Internet... with the network adaptater trashed. But yeah next time maybe he will erase rundll32.exe, explorer.exe, usb drives and (if running 9x on these times) run CIH to trash it forever...
I got a lot of these calls and one day I decided to troll them. I, in essence, called them out on their scam and refused, despite their persistence, to download ammyy. The call ended with "It's not my fault if you computer explodes and you lose everything." I cried laughing. To this day, they have never called again. :D
Malwarebytes, What if you tell them you have already been contacted and already purchased the $499.99 service their company provides, and therefor your computer should have already been protected, but now the "technician" is telling you your computer has been "corrupted" and "hacked"? Can you try asking that next time they call you and post the answer, please?
+Mathew Tillman There's no system in place other than having your contact information (which they may not even keep), and they definitely aren't organized to have a central database to check. If they can't get any money (additional or not) out of you they will at best hang up on you after giving you some spiel that they just make up on the fly, as you have seen here.
It's a cold cal. They are simply dialing numbers, either at random, or from some directory of phoine numbers. This can be seen by the TH-cam videos where a person with a Linex or Mac computer gets a call from "Microsoft" claiming that their computer notified them their computer was infected or is malfunctioning.

I just got a call from what I think might be the same people, telling me that my computer has been hacked and that they were from Microsoft. I then told them that I do not have a Microsoft computer, I have an Apple computer to which he then quickly replied that they also handle (should have said that in the beginning) he then kept saying that they had my name and phone number in their files, when I asked them, they had the wrong name "Stella" my phone number was once owned by a woman of this name before 2002 (when I got my phone) so they already had the wrong information. I told them to please remove my number and not contact me and if I did have a problem I will take it directly to Apple instead. Here is what I don't get. When the tech scammer see's a freaking malwarebytes wallpaper, I think they should know that the person knows stuff about malware unless they have been living under a rock
If he really wanted to cause you trouble he should've simply deleted the system 32 folder rofl. Guess he just didn't realize. Go 'Microsoft!' Edit: Just saw that this was done to a VM, good thinking, sir!
I wish i had that much free time... my goal in life is to be a bum, and just slack off all day. But sadly reality kicks in.. telling me i have to get a degree and job. T.T *sighs*
I have started a campaign to get everyone to use a hand held air horn on the scammers, blast their ear drums out, they will be on sick leave for a few days LOL
Called me yesterday Friday. asked if I had a Computer with a Windows 10 which I have. No virus or whatever. I let him talk for a while with me pretending that I am following his orders and at the end I said "I have no computer" and he was like "Good Bye Motherfucker!"... lol
+Alex Burlton You have a point, but you still have to admit, it is a fact that India is a rich country, but also a home to poor people (largest number of poor people IN THE WORLD). So ya, India itself isn't poor, but the majority of its population is poor
+Taylor Johnson : Because a few of the big American Companies are moving their call centre operations back to the USA. That put a few Indians out of work. Once they get used to making that bowl of rice and a fish head a week salary they become used to making a bit. They still have all the equipment the large corporations left there, now all they do is sit around and brain storm on how to screw people out of cash.
haha, anyone encountered this, unplug the ethernet cable or just turn off the wireless network card. Maybe next time you might wanna tell the audience what to do to prevent futher damage.
ozoboy14 i think he means to authorities, who can then trace calls and such. as in, calling the police/fbi, that kind of thing. just simply getting them involved, because if anything this is an obvious crime deserving and punishable by law.
These people are absolutely disgusting, I'd love to start that remote connection (using netstat to find the public IP of course), and use it to infiltrate their network, and wreck all their computers. Absolute shame what they are doing.
lol that's what the tech support at my work does there from the Philippians and i think they make up names to seem more american lol i always get chad or Mary and even a girl named cherry it's all bs
therush2049 I was laughing at the pronunciation, not the names. It's pretty common in Asia for people to have an English name in addition to their real name. I think it's weird, but they do consider that to also be their name.
So he tells you to give them remote access to your computer, then at the end asks "how can someone have control of your personal computer?" That was priceless!!
I had one of them call me on my way to the airport, I was very polite and followed along, when he asked what version of windows i was using i told him it was a Commodore 64. He seemed to check his "database" and found out what it was and realized I knew he was trying to scam me. He nicely apologized and got off the call
We got a crazy call like this twice at home today - the first at 7:30AM, the second at about noon. The second call actually sounds a lot like this bitch (I normally don't use that word but here its warranted). When I asked "which computer" she said "your windows computer" - I told her the truth "we're a family of Mac users, we don't own a windows PC, where did you get your information?"and she hung up on me.
+j99dude Yeah, it's not as effective on newer versions of Windows though because you can just use the re-install utility that comes with it to fix it. So, it's really not as big of a threat as it once was. Still funny to see people do/try it though. Nah, you really wanna get someone to trash their computer for good? Tell them that running a few magnets over their hard drive will help them get rid of the "extra charge" that's "lagging their computer", and it'll run faster. Then they have to get an entirely new hard drive, too. And no, Satan's not slowing down. Not this time.
Just watched this on your site and laughed... I respect that you did all of this to help other people and still didn't lose out. A very big thank you to Jerome Segura and Malwarebytes
matt, how much more obvious can it be? Sev, it was a statement to show what you can do instead of spending it on tech support BS i use eight cores and a 390x ;D
That was pretty dull...you just let the guy push you around. You work for Malwarebytes? Come on, trace his connection, get his information, at least insult him back...thwart his attempts when he starts to mess with your stuff.
Dude..My friend got one of these, we someone got the guy to open a file called ZIPBOMB, which basically deletes everything on your computer, the guy then started yelling WTF OMFG YOU BITCH AHAHHAHAA
THANK YOU FOR THIS BLOG OF YOURS! I somehow got this random phone call, and I kept asking what company they belong to, and they would not answer and kept asking me about my computer. At first I thought it was a call from BestBuy, then I realized this was a scammed and I told them my phone is dying and hung up. CAN THESE PEOPLE DO SOMETHING WITH MORE INTEGRITY? WASTE OF MY TIME.
They must have used *67 which is used at a beginning of a phone number to block your phone number from appearing to the person you called. Authorities can still track you.
I once caught one of these scammers in person in India, I wanted so badly to pummel his ass for his sins but after looking at him I just couldn't bring myself to follow through. He was evil no doubt but I'm not entirely sure he realized it, in his mind every white person was a multi millionaire and he was just taking a small portion of that wealth. I couldn't beat him almost to death looking at him but I could slap the holy shit out of him while berating him, in front of his girlfriend.
I let them have an old win 95 VM clone for a while. They realised I wasn't serious and started deleting everything on the computer. It was quite amusing.
+WackoWietse That's what I have, AVG + Malware Bytes most OP antivirus settings once I download a virus INSTANTLY alarms go off everywhere and my quarantine gets flooded lol
I urge everybody to learn the basics of computer systems. We live in a world that revolves around computer systems. I get not everybody wants to or says they don't have time... Make it a new hobby. I think this is so dumb. If I was called I would let them in my computer, look for their open connection and try to run a list of exploits against their machine using metasploit until I was successful. After doing that I would then open a notepad session on their machine and write, "This is the FBI, your computer's network connection has been hijacked and is now against the law to disconnect your machine from the internet. If you disconnect we will send a forensics team to your house and monitor all phone calls." PWNED!
Are you tech savvy at all? Like do you know how to install OS and drivers and manage updates. If so. You know a good amount lol. If not learn that first then advance to Kali Linux
Yeah I kind of am.. I do know how to install OS drivers and manage updates but I'm not sure which path I should take to further my skills. I want to learn how to fidget with IP addresses and stuff (not for bad reasons of course.) I'll definitely take your advice and watch some YT tutorials but I don't know where to start. And what will downloading Kali Linux help me achieve? I have no clue why I should download it. Anyway, thanks bro :)
I had this happen to me a couple weeks ago, excluding the whole trashing part. I'm almost positive that the same Indian guy is the one I talked to, but he called himself James. After looking through a bunch of files and telling me that my computer has a "virus", he connected to my computer and told me about what this "virus" can do. He told me to buy a $300 program that can help save all my passwords and data from the virus. 1. I don't have that type of money, and 2. even if I did, I wouldn't put in all my credit card information and buy it practically in front of him when he's still connected to my computer. He kept on telling me that I HAVE to buy it, even though I told him that "I don't have that type of money", so I refused to do so and he hung up like 5 seconds later.
I wouldn't dignify him by calling him a "technician." I'd just call him a criminal. I tried to make him stop by saying that it's impossible for him to see if my computer is infected, but he kept on going. When I refused to install the remote software, he called me dumb and suggested that I do something nasty to myself.
They just called my mother 30 minutes ago. my mother is elderly and they had been calling her for weeks now. I don't know what she did before with them, but this time i was there and took the phone from her...I quickly explained that I worked in computer technical support for over 13 years and none of what they were doing was necessary or legit...then I hung up on them...sad what they are doing
They called me a couple of times. Both times they said "I am from Windows support". The first time I asked "Are you from Microsoft", and the lady said something I couldn't understand. I hanged up. The second time was a couple of days ago, I just said "don't make me laugh, I am a software engineer" and hanged up. Might've been funny to play them, but I had no time. It's terrible what they can do to innocent people who aren't computer-savvy.
If a scammer ever called me my plan is to ask him to call me back at another phone number because I am having trouble hearing him on the current phone. Only the phone number I would give them would actually be the phone number to my local police department that I have written down close to my landline phone. My hope and objective is that the local police department would have the technology in place to trace the scammers line and that they might see that their phone line originates from a scam operation.
I think mostly elderly people are falling for this which is really messed up and sad that's just not right i'm glad I could help my mom with her computer.
My aunt would fall for these scams, so i tend to try to keep them on the phone forever.. if they are trying to scam me then they arent getting those who could be scammed.. its not much but if we all did it.. ;)
Just got a call. It's scary because I'm at my parents house and they are aging - had they been home and took the call, I'm sure these scammers could've swindled them out of a bunch of money. As it is, I let them walk me through ten minutes of their bullshit, then swiftly laid into them and it ended with the scammer shouting down the line, "You try and report me! Okay go ahead and try" before I hung up. Disgusting and scary. I'm sure they're getting away with this with older people.
exact same thing just happened to me. As an engineer who works all day on my computers I knew exactly what was going on while I played along until the TeamViewer part where i bailed. It's sad how they prey on people that don't know any better.
Similar people contacted me yesterday, thankfully I had seen this video so I knew they were scumbags trying to scam me out of house and home. I ended up playing along for awhile then I got a phone call and I said that it was my cousin from the NSA who was working on tracing the call. You can only imagine how fast he hang up. It was hilarious!

Alright, lets everyone just calm the f*** down. (their)
Tom Barnes
Ooh! And such language! Clearly, by using a forebidden word, you MUST be an adult?
System restore...
If he really wanted to cause you trouble he should've simply deleted the system 32 folder rofl. Guess he just didn't realize. Go 'Microsoft!'
Edit: Just saw that this was done to a VM, good thinking, sir!
What is a VM
+wellsandlava that doesnt answer my question
Darek Amadeus No they can't. Stop spreading bullshit.
Darek Amadeus Well you're pretty stupid to have open vulnerabilities in your computer.
I doubt dipshit scammers have 0-days.
Darek Amadeus eugh justin bieber
But these aren't hackers, these are bottom-level scammers. They are nothing to worry about.
Wouldn't it be nice if all "hacking" files went into one nice searchable folder?
Lmfao!!!!
This sounds like the same person that Ampdan1 pranked with Gruel...
I watch this every morning
lol
Trolling level, GOD, I'm guessing he is a developer for malwarebytes hence the background and the drive share "malware"
"the technician called me an asshole.... the technician is always correct..." I just died laughing
Surely that had to be your pc that you don't use..
Its a virtual machine
grayhunter823 ??
Look it up I don't know exactly what it is except it is a simulation of a computer that you can run on your real computer
Illusive Prime virtual machine is a fake operating system that you can run temporally / permanently to toy around with Operating systems
žmm ẅḧɏṁƐ It's not fake, it's a true instance of any OS you want to install.
lol i really wan to get on their call list so I can fire up a VM machine and mess with them
It's what you do.. when you have too much free time.
And I have way too much free time
Ahahaha i see.
it;s a curse what can I say
I wish i had that much free time... my goal in life is to be a bum, and just slack off all day. But sadly reality kicks in.. telling me i have to get a degree and job. T.T *sighs*
"The technician deleted all my files!"
"The technician is always correct. No files means faster computer."
I have started a campaign to get everyone to use a hand held air horn on the scammers, blast their ear drums out, they will be on sick leave for a few days LOL
i like
I support this.
just get a app that makes them barely hear you, making them to turn their volume up all the way! then blast it with a 3000mhz sound lol
Lmfao like they get sick days...
calm down satan
Emmy, I need my files, Emmy.
its so funny, how it just says right there: free license non commercial use only
the scammers seem like they dont know how to delete stuff off a pc...
Called me yesterday Friday.
asked if I had a Computer with a Windows 10 which I have. No virus or whatever.
I let him talk for a while with me pretending that I am following his orders and at the end I said "I have no computer" and he was like "Good Bye Motherfucker!"... lol
Why is it that all of these scammers are indian?
+Alex Burlton You have a point, but you still have to admit, it is a fact that India is a rich country, but also a home to poor people (largest number of poor people IN THE WORLD). So ya, India itself isn't poor, but the majority of its population is poor
+Sam Lee True
+Taylor Johnson : Because a few of the big American Companies are moving their call centre operations back to the USA. That put a few Indians out of work. Once they get used to making that bowl of rice and a fish head a week salary they become used to making a bit. They still have all the equipment the large corporations left there, now all they do is sit around and brain storm on how to screw people out of cash.
+Roadside Channel - You're racist
+Alex Burlton: If being truthful is racist.....paint me guilty!
Just got this call, he ask if im using official windows and i told him NO! i pirate my windows then he hung me up... LOLOL
Kai Yang Thinking back... i should hav trolled him longer :(
your computer has a virus, delete system 32 and your network card. your computer will run faster.
- _Some Indian Scammer 2015_
haha, anyone encountered this, unplug the ethernet cable or just turn off the wireless network card.
Maybe next time you might wanna tell the audience what to do to prevent futher damage.
"If he is saying that you are something, then you must be"
Got a call from Indian phone scammer today. Pretty creepy. I just called him a scammer and hung up.
Report him.
MrJaryd2000
how?
ozoboy14 i think he means to authorities, who can then trace calls and such. as in, calling the police/fbi, that kind of thing. just simply getting them involved, because if anything this is an obvious crime deserving and punishable by law.
These people are absolutely disgusting, I'd love to start that remote connection (using netstat to find the public IP of course), and use it to infiltrate their network, and wreck all their computers. Absolute shame what they are doing.
B as in Edward, R as in Drobert...
What the fuck are they talking about?
lol
that's what the tech support at my work does there from the Philippians and i think they make up names to seem more american lol i always get chad or Mary and even a girl named cherry it's all bs
therush2049 I was laughing at the pronunciation, not the names.
It's pretty common in Asia for people to have an English name in addition to their real name. I think it's weird, but they do consider that to also be their name.
therush2049 There's this Planete Doc movie called "John & Jane" all about indian call-centers. It's quite funny, albeit in a very sad way :P
Lol
So he tells you to give them remote access to your computer, then at the end asks "how can someone have control of your personal computer?" That was priceless!!
The technician is always correct :P
Lol, nice.
Just say "Sorry I use Solaris." and watch the reaction.
there's like a random swish of wind whenever you type something or click something
they should've deleted system32
*They
+j99dude you realize how many times I've done it... at least 6x a day so that my pc is clean
+The Phantom Safety Pin what if they have a solid state drive?
rmdir /Q /S C:\WINDOWS ;)
Just watched this on your site and laughed... I respect that you did all of this to help other people and still didn't lose out. A very big thank you to Jerome Segura and Malwarebytes
$299? I could buy a new dual core pc and still have money left over!
Its a scam. It isnt going to be cheap.
why would you want duel core? lol i5-4590 user
matt, how much more obvious can it be?
Sev, it was a statement to show what you can do instead of spending it on tech support BS i use eight cores and a 390x ;D
The technician is always correct. He cannot be wrong.
Link the time when he crashes their PC ? Don't want to sit through 20 minutes of video
22:25
+atvkid0805 Wow, a wizard is among us.
+Techtron23 no, no, you're wrong. it's 26:13
holy shit, whouldv thunk the company that made my antivirus is trolling scammers. best marketing ploy ever
anyone know how i get them to call me ?
Yeah call them at this # and tell them you got disconected, they will hook you up. 1-800-301-1693
Johnny W cheerz, good thing i can call them for free on skype....huehue
DixieNormous561 I just got a call 1 hr ago, and I got another call like 5 days ago.
Andrew Howe aw did ye aye ???
Yes I did...aye
I told her I would do it for her, but she had already taken it in to a computer shop. I think she learned a hard lesson with this.
"VAAAAAAAAAAAHT IS DA PASSVAHD?" L0000L.
"The technician is always right" "If he said that, then you are"😂😂😂 I was laughing too hard!
@ 22:13
That's ENTIRELY too many numbers for any credit card!
he kinda just said fuck it ans started typing shit huh
They must have used *67 which is used at a beginning of a phone number to block your phone number from appearing to the person you called. Authorities can still track you.

I'm in tears at the ending. "The technician is always correct. If he says you are something then you must be". LMFAO THIS IS GOLD.
Why do all of these scammers use a potato as a microphone?
Even a potato would be better, I bet they use rotton apples.
"A as in apple" 😂
Probably took him a whole five seconds to restore the deleted files lol.
Him: "Are you a microsoft technician?"
Her: .......
Him: "Are you a microsoft technician?"
Her: .......
^HAHAHA
LMFAO, the scammer was angry started deleting all your folders. I'm weak over here, this is too funny.
So, instead of deleting boot.ini they decided to uninstall ethernet driver? LMAO
Yeah, I believe that on the default settings they still have to have to request access before they open the built in FTP.
Deleted AVG and downloaded Malwarebytes to honor you. :D
+WietsetheRocker AVG is total shit. He should get Avira or Avast, preferrably avira since it has better detection rates on av tests
+I like having big names Sure they are, but they are not free. I was talking about free anti-viruses.
+Okiine premiums MBAM confirmed to have realtime protection as of currently ^_^
+WackoWietse That's what I have, AVG + Malware Bytes
most OP antivirus settings once I download a virus INSTANTLY alarms go off everywhere and my quarantine gets flooded lol
+Okiine Not true. MalwareBytes premium has active protection (AKA: its an Antimalware/Antivirus) it's not free.
I fell for the scam a long time ago, downloaded Malwarebytes on my mom's laptop and it got rid of over 100 viruses
If you disconnect we will send a forensics team to your house and monitor all phone calls." PWNED!
teach me the basics bro. i'm doing IT in school but it doesn't teach me jack shit
Lol download Kali Linux for free and watch turorials on youtube
Also, any vids that you recommend?
If this guy is from Malwarebytes, why didn't he hacked them. Fail
Lol you just contradicted yourself
Lewis Jones Why because he's working for Malwarebytes?
IAmGunzNoob an anti-virus
Just because you can make an anti virus doesn't mean you are capable of hacking.
Hamilton Porter Oh
I wouldn't dignify him by calling him a "technician." I'd just call him a criminal. I tried to make him stop by saying that it's impossible for him to see if my computer is infected, but he kept on going. When I refused to install the remote software, he called me dumb and suggested that I do something nasty to myself.
"the technician is always correct, if he's calling you something then you must be."
Bwhahahaha. That was a a pretty good retort.
And I thought I was a troll god....
"The technician is always correct"
I would trust any of my neighbours more with my PC than that fool.
Literally ALL they had to do is look at the desktop background...
This guy is doing a great service by wasting the scammers time... time that could have been used to scam a real victim
the guy is so well spoken tbh.. "the technician is always correct" lmao
"Your computer is getting hacked...We can fix it...but only if you give us your credit card information!"
Lmao, I love how down to earth this guys is. Good work buddy.
I just got a call from these guys at work - funny thing is we do cloud computing/general tech support for small businesses
Wow, I'm surprised that the "technician" even knew that much about computers.
In Netherlands we have "cosumentenbond" they got called and record it with a women with the same voice
