I’m from the Philippines and I was humbled at where I came from. We’ve always been family oriented. They maybe poor by our standards but they’re happy! Made me realize that as long as my basic needs are met everything else is wanting not needing, there’s a Big difference. Appreciate what you have.
It was here that I met and subsequently took my soulmate. It was her personality, not her appearance, that drew me in. I adore her intelligence and strong spirit. We have been living together in my hometown in the United States for about three years. She had never been happier. No matter what, we have been there for each other. Yes, I am also Asian. She's plainly Filipina, and I'm Thai.
After watching the video I realized that life is not all about luxury its just simplicity and happiness you gather. No matter what the situation you’re in. May God bless this people.
Filipinos are actually very nice, hardworking and humble people. You can easily become friends with them and they are also very honest like majority of them.
When I watch this video, I feel sad. I have visited Manila several times. The Filipino people in general are kind and respectful and deserve a better life, especially the young men, women and children.

Just remember the flea in a jar scenario and you will understand. This is normal to them since several generations grew up this way. Unfortunately as it is the government can't afford to fix the issues and the people are used to what they have now. Very understanding and easy to accept struggles and patience abound.

The depressing aspect of Philippine poverty. You inquire about the number of children each household in a low-income neighborhood has. You'll see in every family. They do have a larger family than a middle-class, well-off household. That's what I'm trying to say. Since they already knew that life is difficult, poor individuals should refrain from having additional children in order to avoid passing on their poverty to their children.
For me, it's not the government to blame... it's the person itself why that person remains poor. The government by law has offered monthly cash benefits to those families living in poverty but what happened after receiving the money? They put it into illegal gambling, buy liquor, and don't even think about their children the parents are irresponsible. Even if the government social workers teach the family to change their way of living still they keep coming back to that place, their mindset is different. Our country is rich in nature when you throw a seed into the ground that seed will just sprout and grow and produce fruits and vegetables. In this, there's no reason for you to live in poverty... If you are lazy you'll live in poverty, If you are a hard-working person you'll reap what you sow.

I'm just not understanding something... I am not downplaying their situation, but I do not see some of them trying to make their situations better? They should be cleaning constantly. I always say I do not need a big house or even a nice house, but there no excuse for it not to be clean. And something is not adding up? They have smartphones, a modern luxury, have recognizable clothes, many children running around, and a fair amount of overweight people... But, they say they are hungry and do not eat? Is all of this stuff donated to them? Is that why there is a mismatch with what they have vs. the living conditions they are in? And this is not a brag on my end. I do not have much, but I definitely know how fortunate I am to have the little things I do have.

The mayor should do something to help them

there isn't a designated place for trash, it'll have to be burnt, which means money for gas.
