Hi! If you're here from my Fate/Grand Order videos you might be pretty confused right now. Let me explain! I haven't played FGO in a long time, but I had this channel here with all my branding and username and good stuff like that, and I didn't really want it to go to waste. I've still been streaming on Twitch, but haven't been making video content... until now. I'll be coming back to this channel, but rather than FGO content, I'll be uploading more general gaming content, speedrunning stuff, maybe edited stream highlights. Stuff like that. If you were only interested in the FGO stuff (or maybe you totally forgot you subscribed) and don't want to stick around, then I've got nothing against that. And if you still want to see what I make, then awesome! I know this probably isn't what you were here for, but I hope I can still make content that you enjoy regardless.
Thanks for the comment! Turok 2 was also in my childhood, so naturally I was interested when I discovered the remaster existed. And then I just went on an adventure with the speedrun. Awesome stuff.
Eyy good seeing you here PNDKM! Big fan of your content. But yeah - Turok 2 was a fav of mine as a kid. Although I just ran around and shot stuff lol didn't focus on beating the whole game until I was a teen.
I only played Turok 1 back in the day, but I do LOVE speedrunning and I feel like after watching this… You should have a LOT more views/subs. That’s a great thing! Keep doing you man, and if you make general gaming/speedrunning content, I think this channel is gonna blow up!! Glad I was suggested this. ✌️❤️😎 LFGGGGG!!!!!!
Great to see Turok 2 getting some good speedrunning content on TH-cam! And yeah, before 2017, the speedrunning community for the game was near non-existent because N64 runs at 60 frames per minute and the PC port had all sorts of problems running on Win7 or later. I was doing some speedruns of it myself, but I never did a full game run because of issues with the game softlocking when attempting a crucial skip and some other reasons. I focused mostly on ILs.
Thanks for the comment, and the bit of insight! Makes complete sense that few people would want to speedrun a game with issues like that. The softlocking sounds brutal.
@@TheBellTolls When attempting Primagen Key 5 early, sometimes if you died, the screen would stay black and you'd hear Turok's falling scream on loop and the game would be locked up. The trick was already an absolute pain to begin with www.twitch.tv/videos/45057974
@@Bismuth9 I'm not familiar with the N64/PC tech really, so I didn't know there was a damage boost like that to get the key early. Pretty cool! Softlocking there sounds much less cool, and depending on how far that typically is into the run, probably extra annoying to deal with.
@@TheBellTolls The funny thing is, 4 years later I found savejumping where you can jump, midair pause, save the game, reload and jump in midair. You can repeat that infinitely, which trivialized a few things, including Primagen Key 5 early (but it's really slow so it was rarely faster). Mitchflowerpower and his roommate also figured out some sick tech: 1. you can sometimes jump on nothing in wall corners and even go out of bounds, and you can get Primagen key 1 early that way; and 2. you can accumulate falling speed on weird geometry and bounce off at crazy speeds, skipping over poison water in Death Marshes. When the remaster was released, the original PC port was getting in a really interesting spot actually.
It's kinda neat that both the original and remaster have some kind of "stick on geometry to get a big jump" kind of tech. But wow, if I ever want history on the originals I know who to talk to about it! Really interesting stuff.
Another breakthrough that I found when I was a kid on n64. I can remember my sister telling me it's not going to work until it did and I couldn't use it at all because I hadn't rescued the children or activated the beacons.
Back before darkdemon got took over thete was decent community of runners ( 80 ish) who ran turok 1-3 back to back including myself around 2008-9 sadly no longer up or on archive 😢
dude, keep making more videos on Turok. played up until Rage Wars. couldn't really afford games until now, so didn't play the 360 game. hope you're doing alright, dude. great video!
I found "Zombie Mode" by complete accident. I died at the Port of Adia totem defense after I had killed the last enemy, seeing the game over screen for a frame or two before getting warped to the hub, suddenly finding myself walking around with 0 HP. Sadly, I tried saving at this point, which gave me an actual voice line for failing to save the game and then it froze up, so I never got to play around with that state. Seeing this video me realize that the warp after clearing a totem challenge and the warps from stepping into a teleporter are functionally the same.
That's very interesting, and makes total sense! Warping from totem defense is probably using the exact same method that a regular portal uses, and I could easily see a late death there resulting in an unintended zombie mode.
Really amazing video! I'm glad you did something new after your Tutorial which was also amazing! And seeing familiar faces in here makes me get emotional and kinda nostalgic. I can see how much work you put into this one. I hope we'll never be done discovering new crazy or not so crazy stuff. I like your humor throughout the video, that's how I know you and I always liked a ton (: I hope it's not your last video on Turok 2 and it's a lovely tribute to the good old times as well. Thank you for making it!
Thanks for the kind words, Skeptic! Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm sure this won't be my last video on Turok 2, there's a lot to talk about when it comes to speedruns and the series as a whole. Hope you're doing okay!
Love the game, played the hell out of it. Visuals off the charts, loved the Cerebral Bore (which doesn't work if the target is standing in water, unfortunately). This game was my introduction to the trilogy.
Same! It was all I knew of the Turok series for a long time. Never beat it without cheats as a kid, and was often scared of it, but it holds a special place in my gaming history.
Unrelated but I once watched someone's speedrun end on the Mantid hive because the Mantid soldier did this light ball attack and one shot him. I've also seen a Primagen Elite do it. Pretty bad way to end a run 😅
Oh don't worry, we do. Almost all of Death Marshes is done in Zombie Mode, and every time you come out of a Bell Slide you end up in Zombie Mode, so it's very prevalent in the run!
see this kind of speed running bugs the hell outta me. the use of glitches should never be allowed in any run in my eyes. its not a legit run or a legit completetion of the game itself.
I assume you're talking about the few lines in the video where I mention myself, like with the discovery of the trick and proving the Bell's Hell strat was possible. I wasn't trying to toot my own horn too much, I wanted this video more focused on Pale, Skuttie, and other community members who laid the groundwork and found implementation for it. Sorry if some parts came off as pompous.
It's called the speed running community. They work together for a common goal. It is fairly common for runners to recognize each other to learn from them and expedite this process. He honors the major achievements of several runners from their findings and skips. How is he being selfish? By recognizing and thanking the people who got everyone this far?

Ketchup an Mustard!!!! we need turok in mkone
The skip that BROKE speedrunner's sanity.
Can't argue with that one!

Cool (night vision goggles)
Man that Port of Adia music still gives me chill many years later...
Turok 1+2 is kinda what got me into Unreal and Unreal Tournament, massive amounts of fun back in my super early 20s.
UT was my jam. Even playing with bots was hours worth of fun

One of the best SinglePlayer Campaigns of all time.
Good lord, talk about the insane domino effect that a single skip can provide. Thanks for your hard work y'all! >w
Same like the Buba skip in MGS1. It's crazy.
A lot of love put into making this video, very well produced - congratulations
c̶o̶n̶v̶e̶r̶s̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ congratulations - blame autocorrect 😮
a bit late, but BANGER video dude, hope to see more soon!

I'm doing fine, thanks! There will definitely be more Turok content in the future, I've got a Turok 3 video in the works!
Wait, the guys name is Joshua?? I always thought his name was Turok lmao.

Fantastic video man!
When JFG music started I just felt a sudden urge to play it. JFG needs a remake or a sequel.
I've been seriously craving a JFG PC remake. I would love to play that with mouse and keyboard. That game rocked.
Love the game, played the hell out of it. Visuals off the charts, loved the Cerebral Bore (which doesn't work if the target is standing in water, unfortunately). This game was my introduction to the trilogy.

February 2020 is still vivid in my memories for some reason, although I just heard about this run...
ill always remember "beware oblivion is at hand" cheat
KEWL (KNIGHT PIDGEON GOGGELS)

11:41 lmao that was actually funny
However, what happened in 2020 would change everything, specifically in February 2020... *enters COVID*
I’m having a hard time just finishing the game, and you guys are completing it in under an hour. That’s impressive.
LUDACRIS SPEED! MY BRAINS ARE GOING INTO MY FEET!!!!
AYYY MORROWIND MUSIC
Possibly stupid question, but would the Bell Slide be possible on the console remasters? Has it only been tested/utilized on the PC remaster port?
Runners typically go with the PC version of the remaster, but regardless, Bell Slides should work on console versions!
FeelsStrongMan Clap
In all seriousness though GREAT VIDEO on the history of this game's most insane speedtech!
Thanks Rif! I knew this was something I could make a decent video out of.
ty 4 this video i rly enjoyd it.. in germany we call it brutal nices video alla
Combine this with the zombie glitch and... Magic?
Oh don't worry, we do. Almost all of Death Marshes is done in Zombie Mode, and every time you come out of a Bell Slide you end up in Zombie Mode, so it's very prevalent in the run!
lol im so curious to see those n64 speedruns now
Cool (day vision goggles)
Oh, I see what you did there! (probably because of the day vision)
So i'm guessing the ultimate goal of a speedrun is to not having to play the game at all lol
Is Pale2 still running? :)
He remains retired... for now.
BEWAREOBLIVIONISATHAND
The BIG cheat!
Cool, but... Run records on the actual N64 hardware are still relevant.
Bro you're alive?
Yes!
see this kind of speed running bugs the hell outta me. the use of glitches should never be allowed in any run in my eyes. its not a legit run or a legit completetion of the game itself.
The No Major Glitches run is perfect for that.
I don't like this "im god" videos, speedrunning community have gotten full of selfish ppl.
