At the very least, it'd be nice if these celebs could serve local government or public positions that are more in the weeds to start. Having heard Mastriano talk about his views/plans, I'm pretty sure the administrative chaos and subsequent reduction in registered voters is the point. He's much more a "let me choose my voters" guy, not a "I bring something voters want to choose" guy.

I met Mastriano, he was an aide to Petraeus in 2008 ish. He tried very hard to be a gate keeper, which in fairness, is part of what a good aide does. However, he had a very specific focus on the people he would allow to speak to the boss, and it wasn't based on merit or value of information. It was all about only allowing white, alpha males to speak.
He's another dude who just wants things to be like The Handmaids Tale. Women are only broodmares to him, and minorities are 'other' and targets.

I can't even hear the intro to Fire and Rain without getting emotional. One of the most powerful pieces of music ever. My family suffered terrible losses when I was a little kid, and there was James on the radio singing about what had happened. I guess some music sticks with you forever when it has such a powerful emotional attachment. It's weird, but it feels good when I hear that song and tear up in my memories. Maybe that song reminds me there really was a time before everything bad happened.

My Husband loved Colbert. My H died of acute respiratory distress at the start of Covid-19; he died before tests were available. I find it hard to watch, often wishing I could laugh and bury my face in his chest to keep from waking the whole house. Seth Meyer and Colbert were week night traditions. Great memories but painful to feel the loss. Hilarious Doc Oz takes.

as a pennsylvanian, fetterman would be something for the democratic party to look at in general. a lot of rural white voters view democrats as being wealthy and uncaring about their plight(of course, they ignore the fact republicans are actually wealthy and uncaring about and directly responsible for their plight) but john carries an authenticity and natural vibe that i think is going to make some people who are just apathetic about politics but want to see someone who they can relate to. im hoping we see more democrats work with this.

Pennsylvania is blue in 3 counties--Allegheny, Dauphin (Harrisburg), and Philadelphia. The other 64 counties are red, but the population density is in those 3 counties.
Fetterman sells an image. For those who go for image over common sense and good policies for its citizens, Fetterman holds a rally, never a town hall, where people are allowed to ask about his policies. It's not about 'relating', this isn't a Mr. Congeniality contest, it's about supporting policies that benefit your constituents.
People that live in these sparsely populated regions aren't looking for big government or handouts, they just want to live in freedom and work hard to support their families and their communities. City dwellers are 100% plugged into city life and that existence is miles away from living simply and quietly. Some may call that 'backward', but the 'progressive' movement really isn't. Just what are you 'progressing' toward? Equity? Kamala Harris recently said something really stupid--that everyone has 'equal abilities'.
