Thanks for the great cast man! I have read the rulebook and reference how badly this is looking in pt 2 below. Two points: 1) Uh, yeah, I think any team that is talking 5th round for Watts is a team that isn't going to be getting him. 2) Having read JB's piece and read that section of the rulebook, I have taken it upon myself to download the entire CFB 2024 rulebook, and read it. The ONLY other reference I can find that would apply to this situation and the numbering of players BESIDE the requirement that hand to hand from the snapper is not allowed is THIS: Read Article 4, which is a regular offensive scrimmage line, and then its exceptions in sub sec 5 which is the kick scrimmage line: Offensive Team Requirements-At the Snap ARTICLE 4. Violation of each of the following (a-c) is a live-ball foul; the play is allowed to continue. a. Formation. At the snap Team A must be in a formation that meets these requirements: 1. All players must be inbounds. 2. All players must be either linemen or backs (Rule 2-27-4, A.R. 7-1- 4-VIII). 3. At least five linemen must wear jerseys numbered 50 through 79 (Exception: When the snap is from a scrimmage kick formation, par. 5 below.) 4. No more than four players may be backs. 5. In a scrimmage kick formation at the snap (Rule 2-16-10) Team A may have fewer than five linemen numbered 50-79, subject to the following conditions: (a) Any and all linemen not numbered 50-79 who are ineligible receiver(s) by position become exceptions to the numbering rule when the snapper is established. (b) Any and all such numbering-exception players must be on the line and may not be on the end of the line. Otherwise, Team A commits a foul for an illegal formation. ``````````` Rule 2-16-10 is the rule JB points out in the article Tyler mentions, and this article and its exceptions in sub sec 5 points out that far from being illegal, the ND line HAD to include any players not numbered between 50 and 79 who were not eligible receivers by position, so long as they were not on the ends of the line WHICH THEY WERE NOT (go back and look) AND that none of the persons in receiving 'back' positions can be these numbering exceptions either - WHICH THEY WERE NOT (go back and look). There is no mention in the rule book that you can NOT snap the ball not by hand to hand methods, or distance this must be. NO WHERE. ACC Officials = Bad. Unprofessional. If you don't know, don't call it. Find out, read and learn. Chances are if you ask someone else who IS an official from the ACC, THEY'LL BE WRONG TOO. WT* GO Irish!
You could already argue that ND has the best defense in the country, but if Oben could get it together and be more productive off the edge it could take this defense to a new level. Louisville has a very good offense and if it wasn’t for two turnovers inside the 20 yard line they would have put up 10 points. The offense looks like they’re right on the cusp of clicking.
We were at the game 2nd row 40 yd line Irish side... Riley was painfully inaccurate in red zone execution and our FG kicker is pathetic. Just very disappointed we didn't see Minchey or Carr @ 35-0 lead. It makes no sense whatsoever! These guys need game time!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm wondering why you didn't mention the muffed punt and how it should have been a kick catch interference to add to the already horrible officiating....???
It’s not the coaching it’s the players there’s no game breakers who can take over and make big plays. Leonard isn’t accurate but there’s tons of drops too and that’s not coaching that’s concentration.
@@chrisowen3264 i would agree if it was just one particular WR having issues. But the entire position group has been bad for a couple years now. Definitely coaching
@@wadegarrett2376none of these kids are top tier receivers they’ve proven it at their other schools and the young guys are inconsistent which I guess you can say comes from coaching but I still feel like it’s just the lack of talent.
Just slow enough to be everywhere on the field. He’s the best player on the defense does he have elite high end speed no but he’s everywhere all game making plays.
@@chrisowen3264 not arguing he asked why is he seen as a 5th rounder and it’s cause he’s slow. At ND they scheme him in a robber safety and he is a playmaker when around the ball buttttt he’s not elite enough at anything for an nfl team to draft him high and make him the center of a defense like golden does. Robert Blanton was better and was a better nfl player than watts will be. Teams will isolate him and get him worked on cs better wrs consistently.
Not sure why they would do that when they win comfortably. Keep him involved but also keep him healthy and fresh for the playoff run. Why overwork him?
Agreed Love doesn’t need 25 carries but price should definitely have more than 6.. I like Williams for a freshman but in my opinion he shouldn’t be getting more reps than Price..
Why are we using a fake punt against Virginia. Why not save that play for the CFP, hopefully it isn’t needed in the regular season. There was another fake punt against Navy I think. Why put these plays on tape for everyone to see.
@chadmorlan7475 he said competent passing qb. That an extremely accurate comment. He can run and thats good and helps us win but you can't ignore his inaccuracy this season.
His stats look a lot better without drops and with the 70+ TD to Harrison. Look, he isn't perfect passing the ball by any stretch. He is not elite. But if he can be 'good' and still be a running threat... we can go far.
Yes, BYU lost to Kansas. I misspoke. My bad.
Did you look up at the _monitor_ ?? Well, sounds like there's an ACC official's job title with your name on it...? 😆

I'm still kind of pissed about the call-back on the fake punt score. That was just absurd. ACC officials doing ACC officiating things. Sucks.
Everyone talking about Riley get over it he’s the notre dame qb. For every bad throw there was a big drop as well.
Nd needs receivers who have glue hands and speed…both kinds of music (country and western)
Harrison has earned more reps at receiver.
@@Willie_McBridehe makes plays should be playing over Faison. Faison should go all in on football.
Back door cover tough, great overview of the terrible blown call- seniors had a great day all around!

This is totally off the wall but is there any way we can go back to the color gold pants that they had in the 80s/90s??
Moore did come back so I feel he will be fine but that was an unnecessary hit by that VA lineman to Moore.
Ohen did finally come through
I would have liked to see them attempt FG a couple times instead of going on fourth down. thinking in game reps they will need a kicker this year.
I got -21.5….. not happy about that lol
Great call on da Bears plus 4.
Xavier Watts has Pittsburg Steeler written all over him...
Seasons going good aside from one game. Could be worse if Crian Kelly didn't leave to go win championships lol.
Watts and Mills to the Chargers!

The defense looks really good but haven't played any really good offenses
becoming concerned about the WR coaching.

He struggled kicking those Extra Points! Those were all a bit rough! He’s the only real kicker they have unfortunately… just score Touchdowns!
I'd the offense can click at 50 percent we can beat anyone in the playoffs.
That's going to be good enough better be alot better the 50 percent
BYU did loose bro
I wasn’t being nasty
Just wanted to give you a heads up

Leonard still has bad spurts in passing game! At times during this game, we saw shades of NIU! When will ND get a competent passing Qb?
CJ Carr
We wouldn’t be 9-1 without Leonard… get a life and try to be a bit smarter on your comments
