    Have had mine for the best part of a month, and I seem to be one of those rare individuals that didn't get a faulty unit haha. So far I'm loving it and it certainly is a major step up from my previous interface. Mine runs moderately warm but not blisteringly hot as others' have reported.

    Great video. I picked up the AudioFuse a few weeks ago. Loved the crazy amount of connectivity in such a small device. However, mine became faulty after just a few days. Replaced it with the Apollo Twin MkII and haven’t looked back!

      Same experience here, as mentioned before, Matt. (I enjoyed your review as well!). Though I just went back to using my trusty Audient iD22.

      Hi i did the other way around more or less...i owned the apollo twin - first time out (- ok in studio-) it let me down big time. Others had same problem. I was recording a memorial service for a friend and suddenly it decided there was no input to the channels. I was pretty frantic -tried to look cool - had a pro pa company director who happened to be right next to me in the pews- what a stress i can tell you. Checked everything several times but no input. So thankfully i had brought with me my hand held sony digital recorded and just in time inputted the two mics into it. It was ok . I posted on ua blog and others said same. I will NEVER trust that unit again.Got rid of it asap and am so happy with audiofuse. My brother is an electrical engineer and between his thoughts and others who have been caught out with same problem the possible source of the prob is if you record outside your environment with a not perfect electrical current ie cycles and all that - the unit will not function correctly. You can plug anything else into that power and no problem shows but the twin wants the perfect smooth scenario - thus aok in the studio- not when out in the sticks ! Unit gone - end of nightmare - goodnight !!

    Great video. How does this work with OBS? We are going to be using the Arturia AudioFuse Studio predominantly for streaming with keyboards and mics. Are the front input jacks mono or stereo? Can we get access to the master output on OBS or does it show up as individual tracks? Again your suggestions are welcomed as our unit should be delivered next Monday.

    Can two people listen to the same source at once with this? thinking about getting one of these for two budding twitch streaming cousins!

    Can you use speakers B outputs as standard line outs to run audio from DAW to outboard gear?

    • @ProductionExpert
      @ProductionExpert  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes but remember that their volume is also controlled by the main volume pot (when not in re-amp mode).

      Can You Confirm that?

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully Arturia can add a ''Line Level Output'' choice for the ''B'' speaker outputs in future updates to the Control Center software and Firmware. ;-)
      There was a hint in another overview by an Arturia employee that they will be making the ''A'' button on the top left to act as a Power ON/OFF switch in a future update. ;) I think they will keep it as it currently functions to Open/Close the Control Center window (I LOVE this), and Power ON/OFF will be done with a ''Long Press'' of the ''A'' button. We'll see.

    James, does it get very warm, as I have heard in other reviews?

    • @ProductionExpert
      @ProductionExpert  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can get a little warm but nothing tooooo toasty!

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My AudioFuse got more than just moderately warm. It got "Hot Potato" hot! I honestly couldn't hold it by the sides of the unit with the palms of my hands for more than ~2 seconds before I felt that I would incur some type of lasting pain.
      This is when using the AC mains power adapter, and actually without anything whatsoever plugged into it. ???!!! I tested it and it would remain just slightly warm for the first ~5 minutes or so after first plugging it in. Then, for no apparent reason, the main chassis would suddenly be extremely hot and stay that way. :/ Again without anything actually plugged into it...no headphones, no mics, no phono/turntable, Midi, ADAT, instrument...nothing.
      Arturia has mentioned in their FAQ that the design is actually utilizing the aluminum chassis as a "heat sink". So in one way it's doing what it is designed to do. But IMO&E it gets way too hot, and it's too uncomfortable/distracting to use.
      Okay, so all of the actual knobs & buttons only get slightly warm even when the chassis is cookin'. But when reaching to press any button or adjust any of the knobs, it's such a small unit that your fingertips touch the main top panel, which is hot enough to be very uncomfortable and a big distraction to my creative state and workflow.

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +bb foto - ...so I found myself always using the Control Center *software* to make any adjustments, instead of using the actual knobs & buttons on the unit itself. So that pretty much defeated the entire design goal of this unit having knobs & buttons on the front panel for every key function. :( Others report that their unit only gets ''moderately warm'' but not extremely hot, so IDK what to think.
      All the replies by users as to ''how hot does it get?'' are very subjective, so I've asked repeatedly in a popular thread where a few Arturia reps were active for an exact ''Safe Operating Temperature Limit'' by reading the temperature of the outer case with a IR Laser Thermometer, but never received an answer other than "it's okay if it gets warm". :/
      I've returned my AudioFuse for this and other issues and am back to using my good ol' iD22. The Audient also gets warm, but that's it, just a little warm, not ''I can't touch this'' hot.

      To be fair, a friend has the Antelope Zen Tour, and it gets pretty toasty as well. (James/PTE reviewed this unit as well, but I don't think that he mentioned any heat issues).
      I guess we really have to think about these devices as mini computers now, with some like the Zen Tour and Apollo Twin MK II doing some heavy CPU/DSP processing for Plug-ins as well. It makes sense that they'll get toasty and need some type of cooling design or mechanism just like a laptop or desktop PC.

      @@bbfoto7248 Not really. I think it's a design flaw/cheap components or other manufactoring/engineering (cost) compromises. There's a reason RME writes their own drivers from scratch for instance, and choice & price of the internal components mean a lot more than the average consumer thinks.

    They should do a test by connecting every single thing you can and do a full band recording, then you can see if it poops itself or stays solid.

    • @Hitrate
      @Hitrate 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one ever really puts these things to the test. Almost all reviews are there to sell the units and get paid, not to test the unit at lowest buffer settings with all i/o being used simultaneously, so you never really know till try it yourself unfortunately.

    Saw it in a store, the whole unit was really warm/hot - I'd be scared to use something that becomes hot from just idling in a daw :O dunno if that's a real world concern, but my RME Babyface is clean, cold & stable so I'll stick with that.

    is adat still so popular that it should have been represented in an interface today? Thunderbolt 3 would have been more appropriate, I think.

      I personally don't care so much how it looks as long as it does its job. It's good that they offer it in 3 different color schemes at least. IMO the physical layout of the buttons and knobs is quite well-designed and intuitive. But IMO the unit is just a bit too small overall which makes all of these controls too cramped.
      Some of the text labels and the backlit buttons can be hard to read in certain lighting conditions, but you figure out what is what fairly quickly anyway. Some of the text labels in the Control Center software are *extremely* tiny and hard to read as well, even when the window is scaled up to its largest size.
      I don't really care for the design or feel of the aluminum knobs though. The top chamfered edges are really sharp, and the smooth aluminum is a bit too slick to provide a positive grip. The knobs don't really have any ''weight'' to them in order to provide a positive feel. I wish that they had a bit of friction to them and also stepped detents with markation lines for recall purposes.
      With their smooth, straight sides, the knobs are not quite tall enough to grasp easily. Slightly angled or sloping sides (slightly cone-shaped) with some type of knurling, texture, or vertical grooves would provide a much more positive grip and professional feeling. Think of the smaller knobs in the channel strips at the top of most mixing consoles, but in nice aluminum, not plastic.
      ...just dreaming out loud for the next iteration or version of the AudioFuse. This is their first venture in creating an audio recording/mixing interface, so there is hope for the future. :)
