      I truly love using my dutch ovens, they are so versatile. Hope you get to make your chili, I'm watching the weather also so I can make some Salisbury steak for dinner tonight.

    Dan…would you buy this camp chef again or would you go with a lodge oven?

    • @Dansoutdoorcooking
      @Dansoutdoorcooking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I own several different brands of dutch ovens including Lodge. The series of Camp Chef that I have are the deep dutch ovens that have the legs on the lid also, that is a feature that I like a lot. I would buy a Camp Chef again, especially if you want to get into dutch oven cooking on a budget. Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

    Bacon 🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖 LOL, 👍👍 looks really good, I make something similar to it but use fajita seasoning and a chopped up onion, but no cheese, but I think I'm going to start adding cheese, that looks awesome

      Glad you enjoyed it, I made it again last week with smoked sausage. I will definitely try the fajita seasoning, maybe some steak in it and put it in a tortilla. That's what I love about cooking is trying different ways to make things.

    Great recipe. I made this one in the microwave and my Mom threw it in the bin and kicked me out of home.

    I'd sure take a helping of that 😆 Looks good Dan. You should do a "Cast Iron Wednesday" Have you seen those. Native Tearz and Shovelhead8 started that series and a bunch of folks jumped in on it. I even did a couple of them. You should check it out. It would probably bring in new subscribers too. Merry Christmas 🎅

      Thank you very much for your kind words. I have seen a few of the "Cast Iron Wednesday" videos, not really sure how you get into that other than posting on Wednesday's. I think that it would be fun to do things with other collaborators on TH-cam. Hope you have a blessed day and a Very Merry Christmas. ☃️🎄

      @@Dansoutdoorcooking If you check either one of those channels I mentioned. Maybe comment on their Cast Iron Wednesday and let them know you'd like to try one and they will watch for it. Lots of nice people doing it. I hope you try it.

    I need some advice. My wife got me a Dutch oven for Christmas and I’m worried it’s too big. It’s a 12 inch, 8 quart oven. I plan on using it for camp cooking for 4-8 people. Is it too deep for breads? Should I use a 12 inch 6 quart oven? Also, it’s a Lodge oven and some of the black coating got chipped on the lid. Is that ok?

      My go to dutch oven when I can only take one is my 12 inch deep. It is a 9qt Camp Chef Deluxe and it's wonderful. One thing that I have learned with the deep dutch oven is that it takes two or three more coals on the top to get the same temperature as a standard 12 inch. Breads will turn out great in yours, you might just have to play around with the coal count a few times. As far as the factory seasoning coming off that is no big deal, you will want to season it yourself two times at least before your first time using it. There are a lot of great videos for seasoning it but I always suggest using your grill outside to keep from smelling up the house. Good luck with it and remember not to get discouraged, I promise you that once you get used to it you will love it. Happy cooking and enjoy yourself, your wife hooked you up with a wonderful dutch oven.
