    Please can you do a video on all the statistical tests in A-level biology? I really love your videos they are so helpful

    Quick question - can a choice chamber be used for investigating the effect of temperature? Or would it be too difficult to control the two temperatures?

    If your chi squared value is less than the critical value, do you not reject your null hypothesis because the difference is significant as the probability of chance is low?

    • @ryaneaster4561
      @ryaneaster4561 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right you would reject the null because they are statistically significant

      No, if your Chi squared value is greater or equal to critical value, the probability it's due to chance is less than 5% and vice versa.
      Larger than critical value- reject null hypothesis (Significant).
      Smaller than critical value- accept null hypothesis (Not significant).

    There's an error with the interpretation. The chi squared test is testing the result against a random result. The chi squared result is less than the critical value which means that the result are NOT random. If the result were above the critical value this would mean that the results are random.

      I don't think so.." If Chi Squared is equal to or greater than the critical value REJECT the null hypothesis. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference between the observed and expected values.
      If Chi Squared is less than the critical value, ACCEPT the null hypothesis. There is NO SIGNIFICANT difference between the observed and expected values"

    I see in your 2nd trial you have 19 woodlice recorded as opposed to 20 - is this a feature that can come up in tomorrow's exam for us to talk about inconsistent trial sample sizes? And will we also be asked to explain why in the same experiment there are less numbers in 1 trial than in another?

    I calculated the chi-squared test and found x2= 2.32, as my calculator rounded up, (e.g. for 3.3-5= -1.7 instead of -1.67 would this be accepted in an exam?
