But a large portion of them also originate from outsiders. Many of them came during the Arab invasions of the Levant throughout the Middle Ages, some of the them are the descendants of African slaves taken by Arab invaders, some of them are descendants of crusaders, and some are the descendants of very recent newcomers who came during the 1800’s and even more recently during the British Mandate.
