A word of caution for people with brown or dark hair who want to lighten it with this method, lightening hair removes color pigment. Natural red pigment in the hair is the hardest and last to be removed. I'm not sure how much lift will be achieved by this method, but your hair may end up brassy or orange. Chamomile actually imparts a golden dye. Also, lemon juice is super drying and repeated use could be damaging, which is why she used coconut oil and yogurt (protein) as they both help counteract the damage from lemon juice. When your hair grows out, your darker roots will be visible.
Wow the results are amazing! I've tried lemon and honey before and it lightens one shade or so, but this result looks even lighter. I wonder if the yogurt has some lightening properties as well. :)
okay this won't work for me (when someone lives in england and they are there each morning at the window sighing in a resigned manner 'ah the sun doesn't want to come out today either)
I'd love to see a pic of Ellen's hair with the Morroco Method Marigold henna treatment. My dishwater blonde needs a revitalizing make over. Just not sure of the color results. Any photos of this shade?
Unfortunately, Ellen did not take pictures before leaving Morrocco Method for bigger, better things! It made her hair more golden, not the white-blonde she has here.
I wonder, if you used an egg, instead of yogurt, whether the emulsifying of the lecithin in the yolk would make the process any less effective, though the mixture would be less likely to separate and maybe more user-friendly.
Hi! I did this treatment yesterday to my hair. I loved it, but am wondering what you recommend for washing this out? I have all of your shampoos, and I wasn't able to get the coconut oil out with them, so I used more traditional shampoo.
This is a really late response but I figured I'd leave in in case someone else stumbles upon this... my favorite way to get coconut oil out of my hair is to completely soak it in conditioner, let it set for 10 minutes, and rinse.
I would like to only lighten my regrowth. Since it is rinsed through so many times at one application how would you suggest I accomplish this? Thx in advance.
Hello K Gill, This was just a natural homemade mixture, it would be extremely hard to just target the regrowth...and if you wanted to use Henna Hair Dye, you could only go darker not lighter. I wish I could have been of more help.
I personally need to do this to a lot. I use some conditioner and mix it with lemon juice so that it’s more thick. Next I use my fingers to only apply to the roots and sit in the sun.
Yes, you should begin with clean hair. Do not shampoo your hair for 24 hours. Yogurt is a light protein treatment that strengthens hair and helps combat the drying properties of lemon.
Trying to decide if I should do this method or the blonde henna. I have brown hair, have not highlighted in 1.5 years since switching to your products. Looking for something to lighten up my natural highlights. Which would you recommend I try?
Are the ingredients that she showed the only thing she put on her hair? Or did she use a henna color after it before showing us the final color? I was confused at the end when she started talking about henna colors.
Hello i hope you'll read my comment 😃 How about red hair which turned into brown hair if I try this method can i get red highlites or something ? because my naturally hair color is red
Hi there! For the fastest help, please feel free to reach out to our Henna experts directly at support@mmhair.com or through the chat feature on our website :)
I am naturally blonde but I had colored my hair red and recently bleached my hair so I could get back to blonde. Would the Marigold Blonde henna work over my bleached hair?
Hi Kylie, With henna you can only go darker and not lighter, so as long as your hair is currently a very light blonde, our light blonde henna will give your hair some golden tones. Also, please make sure you wait at least 6 weeks after your last application of chemical color before applying henna. If you decide to go back to chemical color after using henna, you would need to wait 6 weeks as well. If you have any other questions, please email support@mmhair.com
Hi, so I just did this yesterday and I have done coconut oil hair masks in the past with the same problem. I find it really hard to get the coconut oil out of my hair. I've ordered my morocco method shampoos but I've been all natural or "no poo" for 6 months now, switching and trying multiple different organic/natural methods with not a lot of success, which is why I'm trying morocco method as my last attempt at holistic hair care. I'm currently using Dr. Bronner's castile soap diluted with water as shampoo and ACV as the conditioning rinse. I had to wash my hair about 6 times to get it all out which kind of defeats the point of the restoring effects coconut oil has since castile soap is so drying. So, my question is did Ellen just use morocco method shampoo/conditioner to remove all the coconut oil and if so which ones and how many shampoo's did she have to do to remove it all? Please help! haha
What she does afterward is use the Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo! Using castille soap will actually cause your scalp to become ph unbalanced, and encourage dry skin and dandruff.
Yes, I realize that the Ph in castile soap is way too high for hair (9) but I don't really have any other option until my Morrocco Method shampoo comes in the mail. I don't want to go back to usuing regular chemical filled shampoo's even for a week because I will have to detox all over again when I start Morrocco Method. So just to clarify, does she just put undiluted ACV Shampoo on her hair before the shower and then shampoo one more time in the shower??
Morrocco Method Int'l Okay great, just so everyone knows too. I have dark auburn/red henna hair and this recipe did help to lighten and brighten it up a bit. I'm definitely going to try it again when I get my new shampoo's :) Thanks for the quick replies!
do you know if you have to use chamomile? can I use something like tumeric or daisy fleabane as they are more easily available in my area? someone once told me that the daisy fleabane in my field was chamomile but I can't find any thing to substantiate this claim on the net. it tasted good in tea tho'. lol
We can't say how effective it would be. Daisy fleabane is in the family as chamomile, but so are sunflowers, so I cannot say if they have the same lightening qualities. Tumeric will give wheat tones, but I do not think to the same effect. You can get plain chamomile tea, but check the ingredients to make sure it is pure chamomile.
The channel is named after the company that runs it, Morrocco Method Int'l, which is named after founder and owner Anthony Morrocco. Morrocco (with two r's) is an Italian surname! But Anthony Morrocco has spent time in the country Morocco.
Not judging..(really I am not) just curious...but is that a mattress behind your oven... and how is that not a fire hazard? :-D Where is there info re Marigold henna? Thank you!
They were in the process of moving, and that mattress is actually behind a wall. The information on Marigold is in here: www.morroccomethod.com/education/natural-hair-color
i tried this and it did not work, my hair is brown & i wanted my hair to look like her but it turned into a redish color instead, i think this video is a little bit misleading because the girl is already blonde and we watchers expect chamomile to make our hair like hers
Archzed I agree that the title of the video is misleading. However, she specifically states in the description and in the video that this is what she does *in-between* her henna colorings, as a kind of refresher. If you expected something else then you didn't watch the video closely enough before trying the recipe.

"Enjoy some time upside down"~ ALSO thoroughly applies to most of my life, in general
✨LOVE IT MORE!
OMG now THAT is the real deal! Your hair looks soooo good after the treatment!
You should see her hair after a Marigold treatment! It's thicker and more conditioned!
"It's not elegant~ but it works"
*Words to live by right there girl =) Pretty sure that applies to most of my life, in general✨Love that

Love your video, your hair looks amazing. I have chemically highlited hair and I am looking for a healthy alternative.
Thanks!
I really love this technique. I want to try it. But my hair is more red than blonde.
Thanks
I will have to get some chamomile loose tea next time i stock up, Ive thought about trying this to get the sun bleached look
Awesome! Keep us posted if you give it a try.
Thank you Helen! Hi from Paris France.
Thank you! We had fun making it.

"Enjoy some time upside down." 😂😂 Love it.
Oh, it's on! LOL! I am going to try this!!! I just need to wait for my chamomile flowers to arrive. :D
like the Morroccan Method stuff, 'cept I just noticed the hashtag"vegan" and you put yoghurt into your recipe.
What a great video!!
Amei sou do Brasil!
Wow that is amazing!
Couldn't you use a spray bottle instead? You'd have to shake the bottle often, of course.

You can definitely use it on highlighted hair. The amount of time it lasts completely varies person to person!
Hi, is it not "dangerous" that the lemon will leave your skin "stained" because of combination lemon + sunshine?
Do you begin with clean hair? and do you shampoo your hair after the treatment? and why you use yoghurt?
Yes, you should begin with clean hair. Do not shampoo your hair for 24 hours. Yogurt is a light protein treatment that strengthens hair and helps combat the drying properties of lemon.
would love to know if anyone with brown hair has tried this?? TIA

You're Welcome!
Do you have to go in the sun after or could you blow dry it or straighten it?? Thank you!!
You will definitely want to go in the sun because the sun will activate the lemon to lighten your hair.
OK thanks because I live in Ireland and it isn't very sunny. So it wouldn't work at all with hair dryer? Thank you.
It will work, but you won't have the same results as if you were in the sun.
Gi

Which henna color were you looking for?
blonde
why did you name your channel morocco ? cause it's my country, did you ever come to morocco ?

Unfortunately henna will not lighten hair whatsoever and this treatment most likely will not lighten your hair to a light brown.
does the camomile work for brunettes?
It might brighten your hair, but it will not bleach it.
The amount ov times she says 'doesn't really matter' lol
you are so cute! lol
