Elia Bastida en su mejor versión: como violinista de jazz. Su dominio del instrumento y del estilo jazzístico es espectacular, como demuestra en este bellísimo tema de Leo Chauliac. Pienso que esta mujer podría hacer una gran carrera como solista en el plano internacional, teniendo en cuenta la escasez de violinistas que hay en el jazz. Talento y técnica le sobran. Y con un repertorio bien escogido y unos buenos acompañantes ... Pero claro, tendría que apostar decididamente por eso y no diversificar tanto como saxofonista y vocalista (esto último sigo pensando que no es lo suyo).
Scott Hamilton, como siempre, espectacular. Me pregunto si vivirá ya en Barcelona, porque sino se está gastando un pastón en viajes de ida y vuelta desde EEUU. De Josep Traver y Joan Monné ya no se que comentar, cada vez que les escucho me maravillan más. Quizá los mejores acompañantes de jazz que puede haber en España. Esta vez en la batería otro ex de la SAJB, el muy notable Arnau Julíá. Y Chamorro siempre ahí con su contrabajo, claro.

Who said that enjoyable jazz music played by talented jazz musicians is not the highest form of music? I disagree, I simply adore this clever music. As well as Bach, Bartok and Debussy. I think this music has a refined musicianship that is seldom heard in classical music. So I happens to like both jazz and classical. And lucky me liking Èlia Bastida so much.
