For me the analogy of Miura with the eclipse it's about reality in life. You have to be willing to sacrifice everything in order to acquire real power (you could transmit that to wealth also) and I think that's also why Berserk resonates that much even to this day (and will continue to for years) it's a story about humans, even with the demons and fantasy world. You could perfectly translate this story to the 21th century

I don't necessarily think that what he's saying is that sacrifice is the only real way to power (obviously many do get there that way like Griffith), I think that he's saying that often it's actually the easy route because keeping to a code of honor and doing it whilst being a good person is tougher.
What I tried to convey here is that my understanding of the work is that weakness and fear are often at the root of evil.

    I suggest two things
Nietzsche’s mentions of Demons, goods and so on
Although some other books cover it a bit better in summary: Nietzsche: a very short summary and the Walter Kauffman works
    And Dovesky(?): Demons, the possessed
The audiobook for the short is 15$
    Audio for Kaufman’s is 30
The possessed is 50$ for some of the good audiobooks- the 1$ may work but you will despair

You captured exactly what i took from the story . The fact that these Demons had horrible stories and failures but they still had a place in existence. The failure of the average person to understand that Griffith brought balance to existence is where most people fail to understand the story. People hear “ demon” and assume it must die . In the same sense people hear “alien” and think it must die . This is discrimination and it’s exactly how the concept of racism was brought to its ugly head.
In the end Griffith combined both planes of existence and made a home for both creatures human and demon. We do not understand the full scope of what his plan was. So we just can’t assume his intentions were straight malicious .Guts was just as murderous .

      @Juan-on-One  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Well the thing is. Every demon has already committed one really bad act of evil. So perhaps there isn't much they can do settle the balance. So you can't really read into racism because humans of any color are born without sin. When an apostle is born is because of sin. Rather, even though they have sinned, they're still human, which to me has more to do with understanding and being sensitive to the plights of people who have done wrong and even people who still do wrong.

The thing is some people go through trauma and suffer a phase like Guts until the self work and people around him can help them become a better person.
People like Griffith and the apostles go through trauma and throw away comradery, passion, brotherhood, and a grand strategy to win a crown like a man for quick women and power, because it allows them to project success and achievement even though its hollow. They aren't bad people because they are apostles. They usually become apostles because they were weak or bad people, with Rosine, Demon Baby, and The Egg being exceptions. All deserving of sympathy and victims of circumstance.
Griffith only cries when it hurts Griff, mind you while the influence of another spirit is putting him in a direct position to have to face those feelings. Not like he is crying for the "pile" he left in his wake. He is not sorry for being a monster. He is crying because he got everything he wanted and still hates himself. The world sees a messiah but he knows deep down he is still the shadow that threw everything that made him a great man away and the boy allows Griffith to see and feel the things his shadow would dare not speak of. The same way he justified it then. If he turned his back on his dream now than the "pile" was for nothing. Who would run Falconia? The people need their God-Emperor.
Even if he is having a moment hes gonna swallow that tear and pursue his next objective like a bird of prey unitl he burns up in the sun. Because that's who Griffith is. He doesn't wear his beast of darkness, his beast of darkness wears him. He could have made a bunch of money and retired early and lived the simple life. But that is no fit destiny for the Prince of Longing.
I didn't choose to be a Jew. Someone else doesn't choose to be black. We can all choose to betray our best friends and murder everyone we care about for power. We can all become backstabbers or pick up the gun. We can all choose to become a tormented mirror of our former selves and justify it however we want.
You say Griffith brought balance? How long would that "balance" last if Griffith isnt the God-King imposing spiritual power over the apostles and temporal power over the mortals?
The real hero is someone who wakes up everyday and works a job and provides for his family and friends and nurtures the world around him. A guy who messes up then makes up for it. A guy who gives all of himself to his cause for better or worse. A guy who loves as much as he hates. MFing Guts my brother.
-Thank you Kentaro Muira, may god keep you and preserve you for all time.

@@wallybonejengles5595 meh… see the problem with this narrative is trying to make Griffith seem like some cheat who hadn’t accomplished anything without any sweat or sacrifice a day in his life.
These ad hoc attacks of backstabber and putting value into - your - perspective of what a “ hero “ means to you. Blinds you to everything that it takes to wear a crown. This is the typical misled thinking of a lay man who can’t identify with what it takes to work yourself into an elite space. (Respectfully)
The amount of stress , burden, and sacrifice meant to be at the position Griffith - took - was filled with pure pain. Let’s stop pretending like Griffith was some coward who never did anything on his own.
All the tactics that made the band successful belong to the mind of a sober Griffith. He made several unselfish sacrifices before his demon path . The problem with people is that they are too idle , too moralistic and therefore hypocritical . Of course balance doesn’t last forever. Even Griffith had to deal with ganishka and skull knight . America is currently dealing with a down fall now. Does that mean america is a coward because it dared to drop nukes on a country it saw as a threat with overwhelming power risking innocent civilians lives to make a mark?
So Griffith is a “backstabber” after all the work he put in previous to the eclipse because of one night where he made a decision nearly ALL people would have made in his position (minus the casca thing) . As he said - nothing has changed.
This is what ambitious men go through. If we choose to assign ambitious men as “soul less” just because they choose to follow their dreams despite the needs of others around them. Then we would have these iPhones . These cities. These countries . These societies . There is no real hero . Life has balance. You need “guts” who are going to choose to nurture and you need “griffiths” who are going to forge a path regardless of who is pulling at their arm telling them to stop it.
BOTH are masculine . This story is about MEN and the path they choose. Neither is really wrong. But from my point of view guts is definitely fodder in a world of dominance , where the strongest - minded - rise to the top , because they make the hard decisions.
