I’m so in love with the direction this show has taken. Ironically, quarantine was one of the best things that’s happened to you guys. I think embracing the TH-cam commenters has given Seth and his crew a TON more confidence. ‘Oh no. The audience didn’t laugh. However will we handle it? Oh Right OUR SKIN IS MADE OF STEEL! WE WITHSTOOD THE COMMENT SECTION YOU HAVE NOTHING ON US!’
Absolutely so, Seth is carrying the Ferguson torch now, in his own way. There is tons of deconstruction happening.. And with Conan also gone from late night, this transformation could've not have had better timing.
I never realized Karen is such a palate cleanser. Like, when Seth tells a joke and it tanks, just whip out Karen's photo, crowd goes "Awww" and move on like nothing bad ever happened.
I am absolutely qualified to make this correction as I am currently teaching Of Mice and Men to my sophomores. Lennie does not kill any rabbits in the book. He kills a mouse, (or found it dead, but George questions his honesty about that point as he has a history of killing mice) a puppy, and Curley's wife.
Seth has become my favorite late night show host. I love the laid back, off the rails way the show has become since quarantine. It sets itself apart from the rest and is a lot more relatable and just fun

I love getting to know the writer's humor and putting a face to them. Seth's ability to deliver a "bad joke" is brilliant. Even if something tanks they know we are laughing and enjoying it just as much. This is such a gem of comedy, really a yummy treasure. The owl joke and the jack-o-lantern were good!
- Before even watching this, I'm SO GLAD this is back. I need this so often! - I now think which writer wrote which joke every time I listen to the monologue. - It's such a fun way to personalize the writers! I don't know writers on other shows!
I think it's really great that Late Night gives its writers names and faces. I think it is a rare thing for hosts to give this kind of direct credit, or even acknowledge that it takes a team to make these shows happen, even in a sarcastic, disparaging way as in this bit.
You didn't need to do this to have us love your writers, but it was nice to have faces to go with the jokes. Seriously, Seth, your show's humor is my balm in this sick times. If I see you or your staff in person, I will be obliged to buy you all adult beverages. I sincerely love what all of you do.

And him basically showcasing his staff while under the guise of busting their balls is awesome. Hes giving them the credit they deserve while still making it fun and funny thats a real talent.

No, he did kill a bunny. He says he did, he talks about it. Burgess Meredith was just telling him a fantasy. He knew they could never have that farm with lots of bunnies.

this is why I admire and respect Seth so much - with all his work - on this show, on SNL, he's like the guru of jokes - good, bad and 'wtf' - and genius enough to make the latter two a hilarious bit - though new i LOVE this bit - especially as they are real jokes by his (magnificent) writing team - this - and the bit where writers have to explain their joke - are *awesome* - like a masterclass in comedy

At the beginning of the segment, the audience gives ITSELF a round of applause. Back in my day, when the show had no audience, we never had to endure such abominations.

He’s kept the casual look, which I personally like because he also kept the ongoing interactions with his crew at this higher-than-before level, giving the overall show a much mellower vibe. Plus, he doesn’t wait as long before charging on with the next joke while the audience’s clapping has yet to fade, which is a great compromise in a profession where the clapping (and laughing) is the real objective of the whole enterprise. I mean, we can’t really be disappointed that he brought back the audience...the audience _is_ the whole gig really. Or at least it was...

Correction of correction: He actually had blue eyes. And brown hair. And since most pictures of him are black and white, people tend to assume that he had brown eyes to go along with his hair and his uniform. I've realized what makes Seth's show great. He shows us the *inside* of television. Something we rarely see especially these days. And I've always said the best television is when it's people just having fun and/or things not going to plan.
While no one so far can touch Ferguson, Seth/the show has definitely taken a delightful turn more in that direction at heart i totally agree and love that.
Seth's awesome. This segment is like making the audience part of the crew. Still quiet enough at times to only hear crew snickering at the bombs. Hilarious.
Matt's 'tenured Jello' joke was actually a good chuckle. Like, more of an 'internal giggle' than an out-loud 'actual laugh' but still... clever :) Also, possibly factual. I've seen that jell-o. I think it might even be a historical landmark now.
I hear locals give directions using that jello: go down this road two miles and hang a right at the jello. You'll be at ___________ monument and waffle house in no time. Also: it can be seen from space.

I've realized what makes Seth's show great. He shows us the *inside* of television. Something we rarely see especially these days. And I've always said the best television is when it's people just having fun and/or things not going to plan.
This show has gotten delightfully weird, 100% the true successor of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" Vibe.
While no one so far can touch Ferguson, Seth/the show has definitely taken a delightful turn more in that direction at heart i totally agree and love that.

Correction: Lenny never kills rabbits in the book. (There have been several movies so he might kill them in one of those.) He kills mice, and Curley's Wife.
