I have lived my whole life in Chhattisgarh as a migrant Bengali, but visiting my grandparents's home in summers was a very common thing. That one time when I went to Kerala, it seemed I was back in West Bengal.... I mean except for the scenic beauty where Kerala is miles ahead. All my time in south I was mistaken for a Mallu, and I would often mistake older Malayali ladies as Bengalis.

Echor chingri is an all time favourite in our home, but we add onion & garlic too (sometimes even a lil bit of yoghurt, for a tangier version). And yes, tok dal (aam dal) and summer are complementary to each other in Bengal 💕💕💕
