Pretty sure that the fire marshal doesn't love these.

Interesting window locks. I'm with you though, I'm not sure where I would ever use these (I don't need a window so secured). Great vid, very informative, Ty.

Hmm. May look into this (or something similar) for installing window guards as an alternative to using one-way screws.

In my neighborhood, these are used.
Lots of commenters here probably still live in '50s suburbia.

      No!!!
Just not use to folks breaking into our homes.
The front door lock is a false sense of security.
And so is my human mind.
I was told in 1990 in west Philadelphia.
When they kicked the door in watching tv.
Dont bother to get up, and im here for the T.V.
At 2 am. Have a good evening. Bye!
Now that has never happened to me in real life but others in that part of the city say its happened to them.
      Have a nice day sir.
      Enjoy the t.v.👍🤭😥

And we have Naked people on Flakka running in our streets.
      Jumping over cars.
You can see it on U tub tv.
If you see it it happened. 😁

As a contractor that has done quite a bit of demo I realize battery-operated angle grinders saws and drills make a bit of noise but there’s almost no conventional lock that can’t be removed with a combination of the three in five or 10 minutes if you don’t really care about the damage you’re going to do just my opinion.

Lazy option would be to cut off the handle of the special key then put it into the chuck. This way you could screw it out real fast.

What security window lock do you recommend?

Maybe something like a vacation property or even your hunting cabin... I could see these being used so people aren't sneaking in and out of your property when you aren't using it
Securing barn and garage windows and doors.... or even at a business securing windows and doors in areas that may not get a lot of traffic...

All a lock does is keep a honest person honest

If you could even find a reason to use these (lol) I'd grind the handle off and throw it in a drill chuck

I think what you need to get out that screw is a needle nose plier.

When I had wood framed windows they were so brittle that they would have splintered around the bolt and opened right up!

No way they dont take the bolt after the predrill.

Well i don't know what to say, but a waste of money. Our windows are jalicy and if we changed windows its metal frame that slide up and down or awning 3 sheets of glass windows and concrete holding it into place....sorry no wood frame houses on this side of Florida. And instead of a pin we drilled a whole and stuck a swing loop with a 1/2 inch eye on it to keep both door closed.
    ○----
and we twisted it in so they had to break the 3/8 in glass. And if we could not turn it by hand.
We just stuck a screw driver into the eye hole and spun it clock wise.
To get it out....better security cause if you hit the pin hard enough you can knock it out and pull on the door lock until it broke. They are not cheep to replace.
My thoughts on todays. Findings thats Catus.✌
