- This is the speech given by Colette Kearney (choir director) before Chris and Jess sang Shallow at the BT Young Scientis Gala Ball. It explains the history of the choir. It also details how Shallow came to life at Christmas time and how one song has changed us all.

It's a year this weekend and what a gift it's been to our choir and young people💕
It is amazing what happens when you get a teacher who believes in their students, thank you for doing that for these two students as well as the rest of the choir. - watching from Australia
Wow. I had no idea this young lad was a troubled kid. All I saw was an incredible talent when I saw this song went viral. The original video from these kids was absolutely amazing. It gave me chills. It's a shame that if this simple choir program didn't exist he may not have ever found happiness. Hearing the back story about this choir and these kids makes it all that more special. This world needs programs and teachers like this. God bless this science teacher who knows nothing about music but may not recognize it but knows everything about humans.
Christopher struggled in school in first year but once we set up the choir, it transformed his life. He's a great character and his kindness shines through in all the videos.

Chris’ voice is amazing, don’t think he knows how good he is, would love to hear more from him. Jess’ voice is unreal, one of the best I’ve heard singing this song. Probably better than the original.
Their voices are absolutely fantastic and like how it is a bit more toned down than the original, makes it easier on the ears and an absolute pleasure to hear.

WHO ARE THESE KIDS! I have never been more proud to be Irish. Someone needs to get them a record deal ASAP. I’m over here in America wishing I was at my homeland just so I had the chance to meet these two before they become seriously famous.

Heard these two young people perform this song a few months ago for the first time, that was the version during the 'Peace Proms'. That was really, really good!

I remember when Celine Dion sang the song for the movie Titanic, we could feel her voice in our hearts and our souls, I feel the same way with these kids from Ireland, they are magnificent.
That's exactly how I feel. I tear up every time that I hear them sing it.
i have had the great pleasure of watching chris and jess sing this song at 3 different events, its amazing how they both become more comfortable and confident. Truely amazing i hope there is a great future for both of them

I am a high school teacher in Alaska. Aside from the fact that these two are such lovely singers, I have to speak in praise of these and all the teenagers and students I’ve had the privilege to teach. The young people I have the honor of dedicating my time and energy to are wonderful. I can see, here, that this is not a unique thing to my home. Bless you all!
