I own both the mk2 and mk3 and I agree pretty wholly with everything in this video. I still prefer the mk2 but I use both regularly as the mk3 is similar with just more spice. My only real complaint about it is that sometimes the s sounds can sound a bit spicy from the increased treble but it’s an incredible IEM
MMK3 is a straight up upgrade to MMK2. Better everything except mids, which is similar to MMK2. In my opinion, it's the best overall IEM under 1,000 USD brand new. Other IEMs might do some things better but it's just the best in general. I've listened to IEMs that costs 3-9x more than the MMK3 and some do sound better, but not thousands of dollars better. The summit-fi IEMs are mostly just more refined, smoother, and/or more detailed compared to MMK3, not that the MMK3 is harsh or not detailed.
I've got a very good deal on the Mk3 a couple of months ago as a "spicy" complement to my Hisenior Mega5 EST. The Mk2 makes little sense in my case since the Mega5 EST is rather close to it in sound signature and costs about half the price. Btw, luckily I don't have small ears and the Mk3 feels _very_ comfortable (I use Spinfit 100+ tips on both the Mega5 EST and the Monarch Mk3). These IEM's do depend a lot on the DAC/amp pairing - I found out that the Monarch Mk3 pairs very well with the Questyle M15i dongle (a very good Delta-Sigma DAC with current mode amplification) and the Mega5 EST, on its turn, with the Cayin RU7 dongle (a resistor-ladder 1-bit DAC with all-to-DSD conversion in the digital stage). Swap these and both sound weirder, especially in the Monarch Mk3's case - the bass starts losing control and the treble gets harsher than it should.
@@crayp7 no, I've never had an opportunity to listen to the Mojo, so I have no idea how it interacts with the Monarch Mk3. The amp stage also plays a role (maybe even greater than the DAC circuit itself) - my desktop DAC is an RME ADI-2 FS, which is a very clean and reference-type Delta-Sigma DAC like the Questyle M15i, but the Monarch Mk3 doesn't pair with the former's IEM output as well as with the latter.
I had the MK2 that got accidentally swapped for a new set of MK3's when I sent them in for repair. Decided to keep the MK3's and I prefer them most of the time. Whenever I find myself missing the MK2's, I have an EQ profile to bring them close to that.
I love my MK3 but it does get fatiguing or overwhelming in certain genres! Wish I could get to Singapore to try the MK2 one day! Also just curious, why Prestige over Prestige LTD on the store?
@@juanblanco7898 but that's another price bracket, right?
