AWESOME!!! as guitar player i have 3 guitars. they tuned in drop C, drop A and 7string drop F... but none of this sounding like yours superfuckingheavy C standard 6 string!!! great tone, great music, great musician!
Thanks so much for doing this, Mattias! This is one song, I just can't get enough of. Btw, here's a song I put out earlier this year with my band inspired from your workshop in Delhi a decade ago and the way you adapt Konnakol into metal music. Marty Friedman was kind enough to play a guest solo on it. The song's in Hindi & English - would love to know what you guys think of it. th-cam.com/video/ei5ecv5arnI/w-d-xo.html
@@mattias_ia_eklundh - Thank you so much, good sire! Means a lot coming from you and thank you for all the inspiration all these years. I've been so wanting to do a Freak of The Week level animated video for one of my song, if only the budgets allowed :P Hope to meet you at the Freak Guitar Camp someday!
I love that you are rocking Crocs! I used to tease people about wearing them, but when the pandemic hit and lock down happened I gave up on life and bought a pair. Now I wear them all the time around the house. I even wear them out in public once in a while. They did not make me play guitar like you though. :)
I really like this and have always done so. :) Sometimes sounds like Bulgarian wedding music. Steve Vai did a song called "Freak Show Excess" that mimics the same rythm. Please, more of this!
I was just listening to Land of the Freaks this week and this song is so HEAVY it could give me energy for the whole day... It turns out today is friday, and I'll need that energy! Thanks, IA \m/
The way u use konnakol to compose rock riffs could easily be a doctor degree subject, this song alone could be a kicking article on that field. Serious musical evolution, I always said that stuff since i 'discovered' you, a true icon that appears from time to time in humanity that brings evolution to a human field. Again, ty, u r the man.
In fact, Mattias's work and this song in particular has been quoted in a doctoral thesis ALREADY...😉 Mine, that is, which will be released somewhere in 2022. Mattias is an absolute genius.
Guru, this is a masterpiece. I was a teenager when Land of the Freaks came out and it sent me headlong into the Mahavishnu / Shakti era of Indian-classical + Jazz fusion because I loved the middle section on this song so much and had to find more stuff like it. Your records are fantastic in their own right and also gateways into some amazing music since your wear your influences so well.
Completely out of context, Freak Kitchen is in my CD stash, jammed inbetween Frank Zappa and Frankie Goes To Hollywood on one side, and Fredrik Thordendahl and Fripp & Eno on the other. Now, THAT puts things into a certain perspective for me. That aside, best of health to you and all your mates, and everybody here, whatever happens with this flu++, take care of eachother okay?
I remember the first time I noticed that you were fascinated by Indu music, then I discovered how you apply it with tempo management, now I wonder, the times (or time) you came to Mexico, you were curious to do something with mariachi or norteña music?, thanks for making these videos, un abrazo, amigo.
This is one of my favorite songs at the moment, I was really excited to see this! Some others I'd love to see are "Ranks of the Terrified" and "Goody Goody"
Doom Mousepad, Quake Mug? Everyday i fall more and more in love with this alter Schwede..
Rick Beato needs needs to do a "What makes this song so great" episode. with you in it. Please make this happen some how.
Beato cant analyze anything beyond spelling chords. He couldn't do a useful analysis of this
🤣
@@AndrewReddyMusic Yah, but he gets a ton of views in America.
@@AndrewReddyMusic What a ridiculous statement. Have you seen his video on Genesis's Dance on a Volcano?

One of my favourites! 👏👏👏
Thanks 👍😘🇸🇪
However the g string seems a little bit flat.
❤️
That's some difficult shit!
My first thought was "That has to be Jones!" :D

My buddy used to call me Teargas Ass..lol...Great rhythm right there, boss!
Mind blowing. The pre chorus riff is so sexy and off the tracks it should be ilegal. Bravo maestro!

This one makes me want to cry, because I LOVE to FREAK !!!
But, then again, maybe it is all of that Teargas !
It might be the teargas, yes. :) (Thank you!)
@@mattias_ia_eklundh - it may also be the extreme level of performance within your compositional skills as well.

C tuning. See link in description. :)
Tuuuuuuuuune!
Mattias so crazy.
Absolutely mind-blowingly insane riffage and nice tense dissonant chords, I just wish it was instrumental. I'm old.
