Thanks for the videos. Maybe you could put restrictions on the joints, ie: Drive joints, Motion links, Enable Contact Sets.Just a some thing to think about..Joint limits worked pretty well.

      Thank you Daniel Herold
Yes, you are right. We need to dig deeper into joints at some point.
      Best,

Great tutorial Lars! Would you also have some ideas on constraining a door to a bend (or spline) track? As I understand it, the PinSlot only works along straight lines.

Hi bejoscha Thank you for watching!
You might want to look into contact sets...I have not done any videos on that yet...I need to get that done.

talking about joint limits would have been nice here too also the rotation joints were in the wrong place should have been on a corner not the middle. great video's keep up the good work.

Hi Gary Wilson Thank you for watching!
Yes, you are totally right. I should have placed the joints on the corner. Happens when prep time is limited :-)

Man, when I saw how you made a join for the second wing pannel my jaw just dropped! What would I do without your hints? Stayed in the dark, I suppose. Great stuff. Maybe you could also make a tutorial in subject of making and connecting many gears like in a gearbox. That would be awesome. Many thanks for jour job and shering the knowledge.

Is it possible to prevent objects to going thru each other? Make movements more "life-like".

Yes by using contact sets, I used them when modelling a geneva gear mechanism. Here's a video on the subject: th-cam.com/video/3tQzwNG6l0o/w-d-xo.html
      Also thanks Lars 👍

As Kettle said, with contact sets. In the case of this model you would need to be careful where you place the joints. If you use the points Lars did (right in the middle of the width of the door) and include contact sets, the doors would not be able to move (where two of them are connected together) because there would be interference. However, if you moved the joint to the corner, then there would be plenty of room for the door to revolve.

No, contact sets are not the answer to this. Simply applying proper joint limits will prevent this from happening.

How can you apply the joint movement in animation tab from the timeline? Please help me I'm doing a console with a Bi-folding door. I want to publish it as a video showing how the Bi-fold door. works. Thanks

Lars Christensen I'm looking forward to today's steam. It's just a shame that I can never catch them live due to the time difference. 🕐🕚🕑🕛
