Wild Blue Tit Bird Water Bath Spa Party Cute

I love the way birds gather around a tray of water, it's like a day out at the spa! Birds love a bath and having water available in the garden is a popular resource - a vital one in hot dry weather, so I always keep it topped up and clean every day, whatever the season. They look so cute when they bathe. :) They are British native birds called blue-tits and great tits - no giggling, Americans! :D (my American friends seem to find the 'blue tits' name funny for some reason.... )

Thanks! :) Small birds do prefer more shallow water, not more than an inch deep, blackbirds & thrushes prefer about 1-2 inches. It needs to stay in the same place and quite near cover (hedges & bushes, trees) and always kept clean and full. I try and clean and change the water every day in summer when it's more busy and less natural puddles. Nest boxes in your garden helps a lot as most of the tits in the video are local families, which is why it is so crowded! :)

What a nice video! I have been trying to get some Great/Blue tits to use the Bird bath in my garden but I have never seen them in it. They do use the bird feeder. I am thinking it might be too big/deep for them? Should I go for a shallow dish type thing like in this video?

I'am doing a painting of blue tits pecking at the silver milk bottle tops in the 1960's in Kent ,SE England (UK). The tits in my garden are very shy and dont stay on the bird table for long. A tip is to put a plate of bird food on the table and then take it in at dusk so as to prevent rodents and moldy food on the table which can cause diseases to birds. Another tip is to mix chilly powder with bird seed and peanuts if you dont want rats and squirrels eating them as they are mammals so taste it.
