I loved the cork/wood wheel, but my gerbils chewed it like crazy and peed on the cork. I ended up going with the Niteangel Silent Spinner. It's great. Yes, the bendy bridges are great. I do get the chewy balls at Walmrt--and the Naturals natural salad there, too. The bamboo sticks are GREAT. My gerbils love them from Amazon. Thanks so much for the GREAT video!
i adore your channel! there are not a lot of channels out there with actual good information on gerbils but yours never disappoint, all your videos are so helpful! thank you! i need to buy some of this stuff for my girls! some of these I already have (my girls also LOVE willow balls) but some of these I will def try!!
I'm so glad you're finding the information helpful 😊 those willow balls are definitely some kind of gerbil luring magic, like sirens for gerbils! 😂 I left links to all the other products I mentioned in the description, so you can find them there if you wanted to try out some of them with your girls 😊
Ah, well there are steps you can take to make sure gerbils stay safe around dogs, my plan is to build a gerbil catio (or as I like to call it: a gerbio) for free roaming safely 😄
Another recommendation I've seen multiple times already: Wood blocks meant for carving, just make sure that it's gerbil-safe wood. I've got a question about the rattan balls: How do I make sure that they aren't dyed? I found multiple listings on amazon and they're all either white (as shown in your video), beige or brown but there's no mention of dyes, even though there are also other colors (yellow, red,...) that definitely aren't natural.
With wood blocks you just need to be sure it's safe wood, hardwoods only, no soft woods The rattan balls I used were the natural undyed ones, not the white ones. Just look out for the natural ones
Thank you! Your video is so helpfully. But how did you attached the wheel to the topper? Maybe the product I have is different, but mine has a wood block that attached the wheel and the bottom and that can't went throught my topper.
It's a coconut hide, I got mine from pets at home, but you can buy them online too, I've linked one in the description, scroll down to the "my favourite products" section 🙂
I want to add these things, but my gerbils bury everything I give them (including their water bottles, I have to un-bary it every day). Do you have any solutions/tips
I have the same brand as the Rosewood one, but I am having a hard time figuring out if it is safe. It's rosewood naturals nature's salad. I have not given it to my gerbils because it has questionable ingredients like "edible leaf and edible flower" do you you know anything about the brand being known to be good or is that specific one you got safer then the others?
I would be wary of anything that doesn't specify the ingredients tbh, rosewood are also the company that make the extremely dangerous fluffy bedding and refuse to stop producing it even though they've been made aware of the risks, so unless they specify exactly what's in it, I wouldn't trust it personally
@PetConnectionInternational OK, that makes sense. Some of the ingredients they did specify were also like not great either like nettle or they said marigold but did not specifically say which type. It's fine, it was cheap. I don't have to use it
No unfortunately not, the only rodents that can use a 21cm wheel are dwarf hamsters. Because gerbils have long tails, and their tails are part of their spine, small 21cm wheels will cause their tails to bend too much while they run which can hurt or even damage their spines, a 28/30cm wheel provides much more room so they can run in a more natural position without putting too much pressure on their spines from bending. Both the UFAW (universities federation of animal welfare) and the TVT (veterinary association of animal welfare in Germany) state that gerbils need a minimum of 30cm wheels 🙂
Check out how I use some of these products in my enclosure set up for Timon & Pumbaa:

Thank you so much! And thanks for taking the time to check out my channel 😊 if you ever decide to get gerbils, you know where to find me! 😄
@@PetConnectionInternational 😉😂
@@PetConnectionInternational I think they are very cute, yet I fear my terrier mix dog would likely not be so kind...😂

We unscrewed the 2 screws from the base, then we sawed through the glue holding the base on, now it detaches no problem ☺️
@@PetConnectionInternational Got it! Thank you so much 💕
No problem ☺️
Great video, jealous! Wish I could make this on my channel, that's why I subscribed, keep up the quality content! Greetings from Denmark my friend
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it ☺️ and hello from Scotland!
Hi, where do you buy/make that ball that looks like a coconut at?
It's a coconut hide, I got mine from pets at home, but you can buy them online too, I've linked one in the description, scroll down to the "my favourite products" section 🙂
@@PetConnectionInternational yeah I found it thx

Have you thought about adding a topper? 🙂
@Pet Connection International OK, I can try that. I will start saving up for it. How can you attach it to a bin cage.
Here's how I did it: th-cam.com/video/1d79Ixfw1ZQ/w-d-xo.html ☺️
@@PetConnectionInternational Thanks I will whach it.

won't a 21cm carousel be enough? 28 cm is very big

Not for yourself but for your gerbils
What do you mean?
