This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I lost my Grandma’s recipe and have been wanting to make it for a long time. This is about as close as you can get to her recipe. ❤️ Happy Thanksgiving and thank you!!!
My daughter in law bought me a bunch of kitchen utensils for my birthday last week and one of the gifts was that chopper. I looooove that little chopper. I don't know how I ever cooked without one. If you don't have one girls, you need to get one.
Made this for Thanksgiving (2022) and it was scrumptious. I did opt to add cream cheese frosting, but the recipe it terrific as is! Thanks for sharing!
This is my family’s favorite, since the late 1940’s. The only change we make is adding a cream cheese and Mayo, yes Mayo.... topping. This is always a must have for the holidays.
Good morning Ms Tammy I love this salad my grandmother, & her sisters mom and now me & my sis make this yearly May be just a bit different but same purpose There’s no left it’s a family favorite Thanks for sharing Brenda
Tammy, my dear Mom and I made this for years! It's wonderful! It can be put on top of vanilla ice cream or on toast for breakfast, so many different things you can di with it. I like it best with my Thanksgiving turkey dinner! Very refreshing!!!
My sister makes this every year. I was always skeptical as I'm not a big jello person thus I avoided it for years. Once I finally tried it I loved it! We always put a blob of fresh whipped cream on top.
Loving your new festive Christmas introduction with the lovely music it’s so heartwarming it makes me really happy to watch your cooking show and I always love your recipes
WOW!! What a lovely wonderful intro!!! Fabulous music, jewelry besetting your upcoming dish, hints of red also with cooks linen....golly! Fell deep just in 40 seconds! Just what I needed today what with earthquakes where I'm at, and, well, fresh stress lately. Thanks Tammy and All -for this 💖 ~Alaska
We triple this recipe we love it so much. We actually make the Jello with boiling water and freeze all the 100% juice from the pineapple and Mandarin oranges and add that, like you are making actual Jello with 1 1/2 cups less water. We use apples instead of celery. If you wait until your Jello is cool but not set to add the fruit and nuts it doesn't cook them and make it mushy. This is the first time I've seen anyone else make it.
I have a chopper similar to what you used for your cranberry salad and I love it. I've had mine several years and wouldn't be without it. In fact when I moved from Missouri to Texas that's one of the things I took with me.
Hi, My Precious Mom would add a topping of... Marshmallow Whip, Cream Cheese & Cottage Cheese mixed together. So Very Delicious!!!!! Always A Family Favorite. Happy Holidays to Everyone With Love & Sweet Memories
I use coconut, and heated cranberry juice as well,1 1/2 cups, black cherry or cranberry jello, nuts, and pineapple..think I will try the celery and mandarin oranges too this year..thanks Tammy..we love this cranberry salad, like my mother made..
My family had two recipes that are basically your version. Years ago I changed it more to my taste and what was easiest. I use cashews as the nut, more celery, and usually leave out the ground up orange. Sometimes I use unflavored gelatin with juices instead of flavored jello. Great served with whipped cream as a dessert option other than pies and cakes.
Don't leave out the orange - most important ingredient. When you're having a really rich big meal like Thanksgiving, the tang of that orange cuts through it all to make it great. Up here in Ohio, we have many variations, too, but the one from my family is a bit simpler - no celery, no nuts, no pineapple. Cranberries, orange, and an apple. My sister, who is the champion in our family, has already sent me some this year!
I made your cranberry salad, your granny green beans and your banana pudding for my Thanksgiving meal and they were all a hit. I asked my brother how he liked the green beans and he said he didn’t know what I did to them but do it next time too. Thanks for all your help because I love cooking for my brother and we are so use to your style and you help simplify the foods we love
Tammy, Aunt Peggy's recipe looked soo delicious & the food chopper was a handy dandy time saver. I loved the intro holiday music, ur outfit, apron, matching nail polish & beautiful festive jewelry.
Thanks for sharing this recipe! My mother made it when I was growing up, but not every year. It is a great dish for the holidays. I think that she used mandarin orange segments chopped up instead of a fresh orange, or at least she did that sometimes. I’m so happy to have this recipe again! ♥️
This is my dish, I make this every year for the fall and winter holidays. My recipe is very similar to yours. I find this addictive, a must have for the holidays!
Hello there Tammy! This looks similar to the cranberry salad my Grandma used to make! I am going to try this!!! It looks Fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe with us!!!
🎉❤😋 Just in time for Thanksgiving, looks Terrific. I think all the fruits and fruit juice will bring out all the flavors. Really have stopped adding so much sugar to everything except Our Christmas Cookies 😂👍. What does the lemon rind add to the taste⁉️ I will try it, Thank you Tammy and Chris for sharing🥰🥰🙏🙏.
This is very similar to a family favorite recipe of ours too that we have been making for over 50 years. It’s just not Thanksgiving without this dish. I’ll have to try it with the fruit juice next time. Thanks!
I love the cranberry salad, that's a for sure dish o n my holiday table this year. That's a clever kitchen gadget need to get me one. Merry Christmas to me 😊😊😊😊.stay safe Tammy and chris love you bunches xoxo..
Hi Tammy, Love this video! I think I missed the size of the packages of jello. 3oz or 6oz? Thanks. I order the chopper. I think I will really use that.
We also use coconut, jello, black cherry or cranberry jello with cranberry juice, crushed pineapple and nuts,I heat cranberry juice too..will try celery and mandarin oranges this year…thanks Tammy….
Wow! Joined your Channel! Love it, But..😺👍My Ma needs to go on a diet, so her Diabetes will go into remission, can you make some low carb, keto meals using "Stevia"? Pleeeaaassse? Shes not healthy.
Tammy, I was so thrilled to see you making this recipe! My family isn’t from the south, but we do make this recipe for Cranberry Jello Salad and have been for decades. Because both sets of my grandparents came here from Italy, neither of my grandmothers knew anything about making a Thanksgiving meal. It wasn’t until my mom’s 2 older sisters grew up and began cooking too that they introduced traditional American dishes to our family. The story goes that my Aunt Anna (back in the 1940’s) found this recipe in an old cookbook. But that’s all we know about the recipe’s origin. We live in Illinois and nobody I know from around here makes this dish for Thanksgiving. Most people just do the cranberry in a can thing. (Yuck!) Now I know why. Cranberry Jello Salad is a SOUTHERN dish! Thanks for solving that mystery for me! 😄The only thing we do slightly different is that we grind up the entire orange, peel and all and put it in. No lemon zest needed. And It is a family favorite! I have doubled and even tripled the recipe! That’s how much we love it! Looking forward to making it again this year. Thanks again. 😉
Tammy-I think I'm going to try this for 2022. My sister-in-law and myself are the only ones who eat fresh cranberries-so we'll really enjoy this! I was wondering if you could put this in a jello mold??? I have my late mother's Tupperware mold. (Some things you just can't throw away!~)
Wow you got the Christmas spirit early! I got a question, would you know how long you can store the cranberry sauce that you buy in the store! I am not sure mine are safe to eat any more! LOVE YOUR CHRISTMAS THEMED APRON AND RUBY RINGS!
Traditionally I make cranberry relish which you could also refer to as cranberry salsa. 1 seedless whole navel orange, one small bag of cranberries and one cup sugar, more or less to your taste. No cooking. Best if made a week to 10 days before you intend to serve. We like it sweet.
Tammy I've got a cranberry salad recipe ya MIT like. 😋 I don't have it wrote down on anything. It's a bag of cranberries washed. Chopped then add 2 cups sugar. Let this set overnight in the reg. Next day use one of those small whipping cream, whip up. Then you add a can of crushed pineapple , and a bag of miniature marshmallows. Stir all that and put it in the freezer. Your salad looks yummy to.
Tammy, that looks so good. This recipe is a keeper. I'm putting it in my file under favorites. I think I might try using a jello mold to put on my holiday table. I hope it sets up firmly. Sometimes pineapple juice can prevent a firm set up. What do you think? Seems there was more than two cups of juice with all the ingredients combined. Maybe add another half a package of jello?
I put so much chopped ingredients in mine that I don't get a firm gel, which is fine with me. I spoon mine, cut it in the dish and spoon it out. Good luck!
The last time I tried to cook with fresh cranberries I found that my dish was full of unpleasant tiny sticks. I had another bag of cranberries and I washed them and sorted them carefully amd tried boiling them again (to make cranberry sauce) Once again I found little sticks in the mixture. So I gave up. I don't know how you get the stems off the raw cranberries.
@@CollardValleyCooks - That's odd. Maybe my cranberries were not mechanically washed before packing. Strange though. I might try another bag of them. Thanks for your response.

Similar to the cranberry relish my Nana made but enough difference that I will try it. I live raw cranberry compote. Thank you
My sister makes this every year. I was always skeptical as I'm not a big jello person thus I avoided it for years. Once I finally tried it I loved it! We always put a blob of fresh whipped cream on top.
I love how you use several shortcuts to make the clean up easier. So smart.

If you can not find Cranberry Jell-o use raspberry, cherry or strawberry. It will still taste wonderful with all of those chopped ingredients!
That looks so good...!! Plus is pretty. Thank you Miss Tammy !! ❤
This is the recipe I use and love. Instead of using an orange, I use a can of mandarin orange sections. I also use all the drained juices.
Mama made this in smaller version. It was so good.I forgot about it.Well guess what ? It will be on our table this year Thank you.Love your shows.

Agree
How'd it look like?
I laughed because she normally takes a bite at the end. I'm thinking this dessert didn't gel well. Maybe it had too much liquid.
I was taught Jello will not gel if pineapple was added
@@l.stanley3534 That's true, and their was a lot of pineapple in that. Oh well, I would have drink it if I had too.
