Ambient Exploration: This video for me was a "Will he or won't he?" I really enjoyed Shodo Island with it's complex mazed streets and alleyways between homes. But, what got me to really pay attention is the way you filmed the area where the beach is connected to the small island with a narrow sandy bridge. I wondered if the tide was coming in as you "video eyed" the area at beach level and then turned to climb upwards to the overlook where we could all view the site from above. You gave us a bird's eye view of the thin strip of sand extending to the island. When you turned around and headed downward, I said to myself, probably like others, "Ahhh...he's going back!" Working your way to the beach, the waves were lapping over the stretch of now covered curved sandbar. You allowed us a nice pause to enjoy the scene from the water's edge. Thank you for such a pleasant, wet and rainy early morning workout! I lasted 71 minutes on my treadmill today! Happy Safe Travels, Margie
Thanks! I do drive most of the time in Japan, unless I'm going to a city or somewhere with good public transportation. But I like the flexibility of having a car. In this case I was staying with a friend on the other side of the island and it wouldn't have been possible to make it here at this early hour without driving. Most islands have car ferries, so if it's a big island I'll put my car on the ferry but if it's small I might go without and walk around or rent a bike of some sort.
Have umbrella, will explore. I'm impressed that your pictures are always sharp despite the weather and you find your way around. It must be fun to walk on the sandbar to the island when the tide is low and the sun shines. From Saiko Temple, the panoramic view of the roofs and structures below looks quite abstract. Thank you for braving the elements to make this video. I enjoy it.
Ha yes the umbrella is essential now that we're in the midst of the rainy season, and thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this little look around in the elements. It would be nice to walk out to the little island when the tide is low, or even walk across in that slightly covered state dressed to swim. I really liked how the waves came together from opposite directions on the sandbar, it was kind of mesmerizing. But then the wind snapped me back. I walked 2 other port towns on the island in mild morning conditions, and it seemed they had some maze-like layouts to their streets but not as big as this one in Tonosho...
thank you for taking us for a walk, this is very soothing for bed bound people
What a beautiful place! TY
