I feel your pain. After I lost a pretty expensive rod/reel out of the kayak, I cut up some pool noodles and made little custom floaties for every rod that goes kayaking. Also have side mount rod holders with bungees, a paddle leash since I’ve almost lost it too, and always tether the tackle bag. Tip overs happen.
Smart idea
In the Navy we learned that water, especially moving water always wins. Respect it!! Rods vs what could have happened to you is a cheap lesson.
Here in Iowa we call them ROCK BASS

Ouch!! I can feel your pain lost a few rods to breaks and nephew dumping them in the lake. Same nephew cost me a boat being a knuckle head sunk it with all my gear with a nice big hole, after dumping a ton of money fixing it up before he took it without asking. Hope your luck improves!

I have a few rods on the bottom through the years, happens to the best of us! Try dipping your fillets in buttermilk and then use Zatarain's fish fry mix turned out great for my last fish fry.

In 2021 a Federal Safe Boating Regulation, regarding the mandatory attachment, via a lanyard, of the ECOS (Engine Cut-off Switch) to the vessels operator. It applies to all recreational vessels under 26' in length as well as PWC's. Arkansas has had that law in effect for several years prior to 2021. Your lanyard was laying on the floor of your boat... your boat took off down river... after you experienced your cluster.... And don't you usually wear a self-inflating PFD???? As you went head first overboard??
This is also why I put a 8 inch pool noodle on my fishing rods if I'm in running raging water
I felt physically hurt by watching that kayak fill with water.. saw both the poles go over.. OUCH. I'm sorry you lost your spinner combos.
Here in NY when I gut a Rock Bass, it stinks like a sewage treatment plant!! Although they taste fine....

That sucks but you should have been paying more attention to the river. You know what also sucks about your videos? When you make your intro you never say where you are just this is one of my favorite places to fish. Why is that? Like when you and Jay are at the spring river fishing at the Jim Hinkle Fish Hatchery. You act like you must keep these places a big secret. Those of us that live near some of the places you fish would like to know if their right in what they think their seeing and wondering if they have been there. Like this video I think because of a slip of the tongue when you caught the first fish you said White river but where on the White.
Dang. That is why I always use rod floats. $9 investments for 3, no more lost rods. That is bad, been there and done that. It happens.
You need to make you some strips out of pool noodles and attach them to your things. Rod and reels included. I know that your spinning reels were stradics 200 bucks a pop an I would be sick to my stomach!

Sorry for your loss, and I have never eaten a red eye bass , but i have had lots of trout and small mouth , in my opinion I would rather eat small mouth over trout anytime, every time 🤠👍👍👍

Been there, done that. On the maiden voyage of my new kayak two years ago. Lost 3 poles. My s*** isn’t as expensive as yours, but I was still out $450. That hurt 😆

every experienced yak'er can tell u about floats, pool noodles, straps, tethers, tie-downs, etc. Also videos on how to flip/recover from yak being flipped. Do Your Research, life is a cruel, and sometimes expensive, teacher.

Cole I know your big into the Acc crappie setup. What’s the perfect setup you prefer for trout fishing? Looking at new spinning setup to fish the white , and spring river for trout and smallies. Thank you for your help.
I like the 6'6" 1 piece medium for the D2 jig. Can also use it for Trout magnets in shallower water. I use the 8' acc for trout magnets in deeper water so I can adjust the float deeper!

When I was growing up in the mountains those red eyes were the best fish to eat every thing else got threw back , fried goggle eye and fresh water mussels cooked on the creek bank used to be the big thing back in the 70s

Ozark red eye bass is a subspecies of Rock Bass

The first canoe I owned got tipped on its maiden voyage my buddy lost his rod i lost my tackle, both of us looking down tying on baits when we looked up it was to late the river taught us a lesson in being complacent. We learned fast after that and now take the proper precautions but it's always a possibility when you float. Another banger! Fish on!!!

This is why I'm tired of rope on my sister's kayaks so if she does happen to lose her kayak she doesn't lose it she can drop the rock in the water where she's at and recover all of her stuff

If it isn’t to much trouble could you let me know what river that is? My son fishes Arkansas Youth Bass Hawgs and is big into bass fishing. We only have a small boat for our 8 acre pond. But we do have fishing kayaks. I would love to take him somewhere we could do a lot of catching, not just fishing for hours with no luck
