In this clip, Jemele Hill spoke at length about the controversy that followed her comments about Donald Trump, specifically calling him a white supremacist. Jemele recounted the backlash she received which resulted in ESPN suspending her. She said that she also received tons of hate mail from Trump supporters and had to be accompanied by security during her first public appearance following the remarks.

I really enjoyed seeing Jamele on ESPN, and definitely wished that she had just chilled because her resigning didn't change a thing just like Kap taking a knee didn't change a thing everyone continues watching ESPN and the NFL while knowing fully they they dont give a F --- about black peoples lives or Rights outside of sports. When ESPN suspended Jamele (None) of us should have watched until she was back on. The same goes for Kap and the NFL. I guess they got us trained now. I don't think anyone else will be speaking out or taking a knee on black peoples behalf anytime in the near future after this lesson that we were just re taught and quizzed on. Then ESPN suspended her because they not only air NFL clips on their shows but also aired NFL games as well. So they gave her 2 weeks. ESPN should have had her back and not suspended Jemele. A stern warning would have been sufficed. Regardless, freedom of speech should have been upheld. After the suspension, I had personally expected that she would be leaving ESPN sooner than later.

No one ever said she lied. She was fired for bring controversy into her company and forcing her company to choose between its fans/patrons. Eg. Espn could either support her and cost itself white conservatives or punish her and cost themselves black and liberal fans.
Politics is divisive. That is why companies that appeal to wide swaths try to be viewed as politically neutral. Espn didn't want to become Fox News (only make conservative money) or become msnbc (only make money from liberals). Espn wanted everyone to feel comfortable watching them, jemele made it impossible for espn to be neutral. They would either piss off white conservatives by not punishing her or piss of black and liberal people if they did.
