Step1 was missed... Remove/loosen/vent the oil filler cap first. Step2 channel locks /filter wrench shouldn't be needed to remove filter unless you've left it too long or it's been over tightened. Step3 wiping in/around the filter receiver should be done with care to ensure that debris and road grime isn't actually pushed into the receiver. Easier to do by accident than you might think.
The way this oil pan is encased around the oil filter makes it a difficult filter to remove. I actually buy k&n filters for my denali just for this reason. It has a 1 inch nut welded to the bottom.
Makes sense. A tutorial that doesn’t show you where to access everything. Nice job guys. Nice job.
Glad we could help. Thank you so much for watching!
No No Hahahahahahaha
Here's a clue. Everything is in the front under the hood end of the car.
If you don't know where that is, perhaps Jiffy Lube is in your future!
It's a good idea to fill the new filter with fresh oil before installing it.
Important to show where both plug and filter are located!!!!!!
wheres the plug to let oil out?

Otherwise, great vid for first time DIY mechanic/owners.
You must have much smaller fingers than me if you can get them in there to get a grip on the filter.

Thank you my friend,great help!
You're welcome!
Is that a 15mm socket you used for the drain plug?
Yeah if I had to guess or a 13mm. Thanks for watching!
It’s a 15 for the drain plug
let the engine run for 15-20 seconds and then check the oil level again?????
Nice job dude will you show me oil filter part number please....... I am also working in lube express in Muscat.......
Remove what filter?
i have a 2013 sierra 1500 and i live in south texas where it gets really hot down here would you recommend 10 or 5 w
I was wondering the same
Y’all need to get some oil filter wrenches, I don’t approve using channel locks that is unprofessional
I have the 6.2 l engine is it the same?
yes it is
is this the same as a 4.7L?
+Bob McElwee Yes it is.
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thanks.
I always pull the damn diff plug lol. That oil filter is in a sucky spot
Thanks for watching Lucas!
@@2carpros good vid. Saw those 2 bolts on the frame and found it asap. Nice work
hi please show us GMC rear evaporator and blower motor location please make video and up load
Easy with a lift. Not much space with stock truck on ground....
A lift is nice to have but I have done this for years just using a jack and jack stands. Thanks for watching!
besides lubricating the new filter seal is it necessary to fill the new filter with some oil before placing it on?
There is no need for that because the engine fills the filter in about 2 seconds of running.
I always prefilled the oil filter on my 2012 Sierra 6.2L. I feel it will prevent dry start.
You put 5 30 in the oil cap says 5 20
That's basically the same thing. Don't get so hung up on that. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros I'm not getting hung up on anything and it not basically the same thing. I was just saying
You put old oil on the new filter. You should have put new oil on the new filter. Made no sense.
+Cajun9000 You just need to lubricate the seal, this little amount doesn't do any harm but if you want you can use new oil.
It's a good idea to fill the new filter with fresh oil.
Shit doesn't matter... it isn't going into the engine
I didn't see you put oil in the filter, pros me think not
It fills within a second of engine start up. You can do it if you want to but it is unnecessary. Thanks for watching!
Not necessarily on such a small filter.
That oil looked horrible. Long past due.
