A press conference should be about discussing games...not practice...is where he was coming from. Many kids (he claimed) misunderstood him thinking he was indicating that he shouldn’t need to practice (like others since he is so good), and that was an unfair assumption on their part.

It’s not about being lazy in terms of not preparing for the season. It’s more about protecting our superstars from injuries and fatigue so that the NBA can give us a show week in and week out. I understand that older legends like Oscar Robinson and the great Celtics teams and Lakers teams would scoff at not having as many practices as they did back then but we’re obviously in a different age now where we have to be more “protective” of our athletes otherwise we’ll be seeing a lot of career-threatening injuries and that will hurt the league to a degree.
