- This Stray Speedrun Walkthrough shows the full game (including all cutscenes).
The "I am Speed" trophy requires you to beat the game in 2 hours. My time was 1h35min.
Most importantly, restarting checkpoints or dying (hitting "retry" after death) adds to your time! A workaround is to back up your save manually in PS+ Cloud or on USB every few chapters. If you lose a lot of time somewhere you can copy back the save and start replaying from the backup point. There are no difficulty settings, it's the same difficulty for everyone.
Speedruns Tips:
- It's recommended doing the Collectible Run first. Do the Speedrun in your 2nd playthrough.
- Dialogues add to your time. During dialogues smash CIRCLE + SQUARE to skip through them quickly.
- Deaths/Checkpoint Restarts add to your time so avoid this.
- To be safe make a manual save backup in the PS+ Cloud / USB every 1-2 chapters. If you get stuck anywhere for too long you can copy back the save.
- In the Title Screen you can scroll over your save slot to see your current time. See below for recommended times, being 20-25 minutes slower than the below times is acceptable.
- Chapter 11 has a tricky part where you must lock 2 Drones into a storage room. It's easy to die here. Back up your save game when reaching this point. If you are about to die quit the application and reboot the game, or copy back your save.
- Loading Times (Blackscreens) don't add to your time. My final save game time showed 1:31:21 wheras the total video capture was 1:35:00 due to transitions screens between chapters.
- Pausing the game stops the timer. Feel free to pause to take a break. You can also quit out to the main menu at any point to stop the timer and continue later.

Chapter 11 with a tricky part where you must lock 2 Drones is actually easy. Run straight away to the furthest door (2nd door), simultaneously aggro both drones. They will follow you to the room. In the room run towards the 1st door which is closed (you're a cat, you can squeeze through). Then run back in the empty courtyard to the 2nd door to close it.
This is easy and consistent.

The real MVP right here
A little tip. Because you can pause the game which pauses the clock. If you are following the guide, pausing frequently as you go. And you feel you took a little too long on a certain puzzle or part of a sequence compared to the guide. Pause the game and you can see how long the last checkpoint has been. Quit the game and reload your save file. Your game will start from that last checkpoint giving you another chance at being quicker.
Why not just restart from the check point
@@mikeotto1999 I'm not sure but I think just restarting the check point doesn't go back on the clock rather it continues the clock. I haven't tried this and since deleted the game after finishing to make room on the drive.

@@ThogDontCare it does yes. You're reloaded a checkpoint where the clock was at.
In chapter 10 after meeting clementine, you can go straight to the bar, wake up the drunk robot then run to the clothing store to play the cassette tape then grab the vest. When you come back for the hat store, quickly jump in the box and the drunk robot would then be right in front of the store to carry the box inside. Just a tip to shave a few seconds/minutes off.

For anyone still wondering, yes you can pause the game, it doesn’t add time. Just got the plat first attempt with pausing.

The first one being survive the first zurk run without being caught and the second one being to sleep for a real hour.
1hr 54mins. I was shaking towards the end, thinking I might not make it and have to redo.
I got a little lost in the slums, finding books, and It was when I started the sewers I checked your video to see how I was doing on time. About 15mins behind.
I don't really do speedruns, I hate the time restriction stress and all the dialog skipping. Sure I've played it already, but I like to pretend I don't know what I'm supposed to do and relive the experience the best I can. I like to just take my time and enjoy the sights as I go. Not have to worry if I get a little lost or get sent back to the check point.

For those asking: you can pause the game and loading screens (black screen with paw prints) don't add time, otherwise, dialogues and cutscenes do.
I blue screened does that count as pause

@@kucingtepijalan3459 yes all you have too do in chapter 9 is talk too a robot then you can move on too Chapter 10. Chapter 9 dose have some collectable to obtain but speed running chapter 9 pretty quick

Took me 1 hour 42 minutes I died a few times in Midtown with those stupid drones at the apartments annoying and I died once in the Prison section again those drones annoying

@@JimmyHACK it went good! Got the plat. Pausing the game does stop the timer. I was getting nervous halfway through, thinking I wasn't gonna make it but I died 2 or 3 times and ended up at an hour and 40 minutes. As long as you keep a good pace you should be fine. I started a few mins before 1AM and finished at 3:30 AM on the dot, for reference. PowerPyx had a great walkthrough.

I know for a fact in the ending we might get a STRAY 2 or like a different version but that takes place outside the dome and all the robots make it out safe or idk just an idea this game was a 10/10 for me

@@adamdublin123 this is a trophy hunting channel and most people followed it step by step which i didn't do, you can enjoy the game and all its aspects when you go for collectibles you don't have to be negative let people play how they want

Just got the platinum thanks to this walkthrough - it’s actually very lenient as I died twice (sentinels) and had to redo a couple of longer sections - still clocked in at 1:31.

!!!!! WARNING !!!!! One thing to note is that every time you fail a section and quit or reload a checkpoint you will be penalized by having the additional LOAD TIME count as play time! So to explain at the start of a new section the "time since checkpoint" will be 1 sec. If you fail and restart that section you have 10-15 secs of load time, so the "time since checkpoint" will be 11secs to 16secs instead of 1 sec. So if every section needs more than one attempt you will be adding a MASSIVE amount of unfair loading time on to your total time. This means the 2 hours IS NOT generous at all and it's very possible to fail

Not aliens and not bugs. Robots developed here on earth to eat garbage. Since no humans, no garbage so they evolved to eat other things.
With your help and quitting/re-loading helped me beat the game with a time of 1h 29m 35s. Thank you, this was the last trophy I needed for the platinum.

1:33:40 Kinda broke me having to rush this part since in the original run I took my time there out of respect and feels, so finishing the game the second time, rushing the ending like that felt heartless at this part, and then the feels hit again from the awesome game this was... if a game gets you like this both times you finish it up, then you know it was definitly special, this game is definitly SPECIAL, OST and direction were just amazing!

I played all night I still haven't finished but I've been figuring out all the puzzles by my self and it's actually really fun 10 out of 10 would recommend if you like chill games for sure

honestly i hate that this game has a speedrun trophy, its so slow and its infuriating i love playing it without rushing but when i have to rush to do this it gives me anxiety

Btw you can save a little time in midtown by not going to see blazer right away, but first waking up delivery guy in bar, and while he slowly walks to the clothing store go see blazer so you're not waiting doing nothing :)

Great guide as always PowerPyx, just got the plat! Got a little nervous around the end because the cat got stuck in the jail cell bars going after the key to free Clementine. It was a strange glitch, I thought it was going to cost me because I had to restart to the last checkpoint. Still clocked in at 1 hour and 38 minutes.

I did die a few times, but still managed to finish with 1 hour and 36 min. Like others said, you can pause the game and the timer will stop. So pause and watch the video ahead then continue playing.

@@mastrogeppetto97 yep, you can pause and time doesnt go on in menu. you can even leave the game if you want to, also track your time on savegame menu
@@mastrogeppetto97 Yes. When you pause, you can see your time in the specific chapter you are in on the pause screen. You can wait while pausing then un-pause then immediately pause again and you'll see the time doesn't change even though it has been much longer in the real world.

can confirm that the trophy also pops should the game crash (did 2 times for me, I'm on PS4 btw) as long as you dont go over time :)
Yeah, I'm agree. You can play game and save (auto check point) and take a break as long as you need, then return. In main menu after choosing START GAME you can see your actual time
Same my game also crashed 2 times and i am on ps4 slim.
If you die, just quit to main menu, and reload the game. It will load with the time from the save. Thanks for the video!
Finally I am done with that speedrun bullsh*t. My time was 1h 41m first run. Was thinking about platinuming this again on the PS5 but I don't wanna do it again. 😅

I died many times, my game crashed ( i was sad that i wasted 1hour and played the next day), took wrong pathes and still got the Trophy. People on the Internet said if your game is crashing then you dont get the Trophy because of the timer. Im glad that i didnt listen to them.

At the final cutscene when the cat walking up the stairs (in this video it will be at 1:35:04) you can see on the left down corner that the monitors turn ON. Before it was blurred but the devs made zoom in for one second. I think it was for a reason and this is our B-12 ;)
