Timmy, in case you didn't bother to put one in the pan, whiting are widely held to be among the best table fish in Australia. I caught and ate a heap with my Dad and brothers when I was little in the Bellinger river and they were always the highlight of the day's catch; sweet, tender. aromatic and top-notch healthy with nothing more than a little butter. Please don't tell anyone where you were, the whiting population needs all the help it can get.
Good to see you back Timmy. Missed you vids. I'm really keen to get out and try that surface luring for whiting, or anything for that matter.Good stuff mate. Just love your enthusiasm. I bought one of you hats, but I've got it out on the last hole. I might have to superglue the ends together to stop them from coming apart all the time.
Nice work mate.. Water looked pretty still? No run -- no fun! Another little sneaky visit/vid with some tidal movement might prove fruitful for some bigger fair... As a N/Qlder, it will always freak me out watching you fish those spots in that boat...LOL
Awesome and Finally the King and Legend Fisherman Timmy Turtle !! Has uploaded a Sick Video !! Thanks for uploading and sharing with us this amazing video Timmy Turtle !! Keep up the amazing work Timmy Turtle !! Cheers William !!

Torn between watching your vids as they're awesome content and not watching your vid because my reel is broken and I can't head out afted being encouraged by your vid. Guess that fact that I'm commenting on this makes it obvious which choice I made. xD And once my new reel arrives, I'm sure to head out to chase some fish too! Keep up the great work!
I when i was a kid in sydney port hacking we used use beach worms and get massive ones over 1.5kg big white bucket they tails hang out of it old guys and people use cream when they see them the trick we use was quil floats same setup for blackfish but beach worms id bet ones like that are big now days!
Cooking whiting is dead easy mate. Get a scaling net and drag your catch in the water on the way home for maybe 10 minutes or until all scales are gone. That is the worst job done. Too easy. Scaling whiting by hand is a pain. Take your fillets after gutting. A tablespoon of butter, not margarine, in a skillet over a medium low heat, don't burn the butter. No Teflon, that crap comes off in your food. Stainless, preferably with a copper bottom. Splash out online as you'll have it the rest of your life and a bit of wool scourer keeps it shiny silver for just as long. Or cast, your preference. A bit of plain flour on a plate, flour each side of the fillet and into the butter when beginning to sizzle. Flesh down first, skin side up. Don't annoy whiting with seasoning, it isn't Taylor. A squeeze of lemon and we're all good. Wait til a bit of golden brown comes on and the flesh starts turning white half way through. Now flip it, don't over think it. As soon as it's white all through, scoff it. You can add egg and bread crumbs but just like that is awesome, easy and quick. One of the premier eating fish those little guys. Take a small gas camping cooker out and make Fishing with Timmy Turtle a cooking show too. On the water.
Onya Timmy!! Slaying the surface Whiting 😍 probably already been asked, but what lure is that? Up here around Mackay the best lure I've found for surface Whiting is the River2Sea Bubblepop 35! Keep up the vids mate!!
What are you doing fishing for such small fish? This boat is a Marlin Mauler, I want another deep Sea adventure with some more monster fish like that Marlin. You got the perfect boat for it.
3:48 made me laugh ya bogan. Love your vids keep it up Dont tell anyone How do you manage to keep your job. I would be saying just one more cast.......4hours later
@@FishingWithTimmyTurtle all you need is some clear covers for the skiff and a kitchenette! Gold Coast fishing in winter gets me all excited! Nice vid.
Whats your thought on the td reel timmy? I got the supercasta rod but couldn't find any td reel stocked on the sunny coast so i got a stradic fk wich was on special?
Good little reel. The drag is a bit sticky every now and then though but haven’t checked if I need to regrease the washers so might do that. 👍 but feels super smooth to wind
Timmy believe it or not goldies are more common in winter than summer don't know why we call them summer whiting don't even catch many in summer but heaps in winter
yer I heard that but have been told that they don't like the surface as much when the water temps drop but definitely get the big winter whiting on bait during winter :) after the temps dropped was just surprised they were still smashing the surface
Hey mate, love the clips, and love your enthusiasm, but I cringe when I see you gear laying on the deck ready to slip over the side into the drink, or be brushed in by a wayward bush (6.09mins). Keep up the great work though
Hey Timmy, have ya seen any bullsharks when you're up the creek on your skiff? Met a guy at robert newman park who was in the paper for catching a few bullies earlier this year
See them jump all the time. No massive ones but up to a meter. Saw a big one in the brissy river one day though on my old raft scared the crap out of me haha
Mangrove jacks are the same thing as mangrove snapper in the U.S. They are delicious. Why do i not see any Australian fisherman targeting them for table fare?
I get that i like the sport just was wondering if they are prized there too. I just havent seen any videos at all fishing for them. I have seen many other species caught only one mangrove caught and he seemed disappointed.
Up north they are a pest for Barr fishermen. Down south people last be them as a sport fish. They get a lot bigger down here in the colder water inshore. Up north they get tonnes but small ones. So depending on where you are fishing some are discounted with them some are ecstatic. But everyone still enjoys eating them. Just not the hard core lure fishermen
I am genuinely surprised by the size and amount of whiting you have caught there. Im pretty sure I know where you are by the sounds I can hear with the headphones on, thats why I am so surprised.
