Koumeya - Egyptian National Folklore Co. Zar Suite

The Zar ceremony is a healing ritual primarily for women involving dance movement, rhythm to release negative energy. It is normally done privately in small groups and not open to observers This theatrical dance shows a story of the Zar ritual. Choreographed by Madame Bosy who also dances the part of the 'Kodia' in light purple caftan. I believe this was added to the Company repertoire in the early 90s. Any further info is appreciated
