    Nice one. Coldcard remains the most reliable hardware wallet in the market IMO. Ledger, Trezor, Passports, Bitbox, meh. Gimme a Coldcard. Mk3 or Mk4. If you know enough about who is making them, how they're made and how you can verify... good way to go. Don't trust tho, verify.

      Thanks for the comment, and great question!
      The keys are segregated on the device to prevent this. My understanding is that the SD card doesn't have access to the keys, only the finished signed transaction. I'll perhaps defer to Rodolfo at coinkite for clarification on this though.

    Relating to the part where you created a backup and then restored the wallet using that backup: didn't you say it was an encrypted backup? I didn't see you enter a passphrase or decrypt anything. Did i miss anything? What could a person who found the file or the wordlist do with it?
    Or is it that the backup file is an encrypted file and the wordlist is the key to decrypt it? Probably that now that I write and think about it. I'll leave the comment in case it wasn't clear to anyone else.

    Does anyone know what this part at 23:20 is? I am trying to setup XPUB for pocketbitcoin recurring purchases, and in their tutorial they say you should use account number 1 for pocket when exportting your wallet with generic json. I don't understand why that is? Are account numbers just other bitcoin public addresses or?

    • @BTCSessions
      @BTCSessions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My understanding is that it's the "pathway" used to generate addresses. Your hardware can generate a massive number of bitcoin addresses, and you need to decide which ones your wallet starts from. Changing the account number from blank (technically account 0) will change your starting point. When pocketbitcoin says account 1, they likely mean just the default pathway.

      No worries!
      So cloning will basically copy all your settings/preferences PLUS any items you have in a new feature (which I made a video on) called seed vault. Importing the seed is fine as well, this just streamlines the process and grabs any additional info you've imported.

    • @BTCSessions
      @BTCSessions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The password with wasabi is just to unlock the desktop software itself if I'm not mistaken. It has no bearing on the actual seed phrase of your Coldcard. It's basically a mechanism to prevent someone from auditing your balance if they get access to your computer.

    • @se6586

      @@BTCSessions thank you for the reply. I have gone through your tutorials and checked out everything cold card has put out and I didn’t know if it encrypted via the 25th word which would make it incompatible with 24 word seed wallets, which is my concern. Thank you Ben, what wallet would you recommend for the phone. Would that work on a De-Googled Pixel phone? Regarding using the Coldcard with Sparrow are there any special provisions that need to be made for PC's that are running Linux Ubuntu 22.04?

    Anyone else receive a coldcard that says “Bag Me Now” at first power on? I assume it means it wasn’t setup properly prior to shipping and I’ll need a replacement. Hopefully product support is good.

    What happens if this device breaks? Company goes out of business? Are these worthy concerns?

      If it breaks I put your wallet to a new one, if they go out of business then you can just get a new cold storage wallet if you want and transfer your btc to it

    I had previously purchased a Trezor Model T, via the referral link, after watching your video's a little over a year ago. However, I don't have a backup hardware wallet, so I was looking to purchase one. After watching your Top 6 Bitcoin Hardware wallets of 2022, I narrowed it down to the Coldcard or the Keystone. After watching both of your detailed usage videos on each of the two, I am leaning more toward purchasing the Coldcard Wallet (via your referral link). Then after copying the wallets created on the Trezor to the Coldcard, I plan to wipe the Trezor and have it as the backup as it is less secure than the Trezor due to the Coldcard being air-gapped. Thanks once again, Ben!!!
    One question: Would you recommend using the Micro SD over the Virtual Disk with the Coldcard?

      Awesome Video Ben! Thank you! I received my Cold Card and walked my way through with your help. I appreciated the discount that I received by using your link when purchasing it. I chose to use unsigned transactions with the micro USB as it is the most secure being totally air-gapped. When Sparrow Wallet supports NFC I will switch to NFC.

    hi dude quick question for you. After signing the transaction on coldcard, and loading the signed transaction to sparrow, there is no "broadcast transaction" button available for me, it shows "save final transaction" instead. Any way to get past this?

    Really appreciate the helpful and informative content you put out. I am considering a Mk4 but have a new Keystone 3 Pro which I was planning to use for BTC alone to HODL only. When Keystone release their dedicated BTC firmware next year, will the Keystone be comparable to a Mk4 in terms of security? I will use a Tangem most likely for daily transactions of I do any. Many thanks 'eh :)
