As a few people have pointed out, I misspoke! Was thinking of the Sydney attack that led to the building of Mark 1s, said Sydney when I said where Cherno fell in battle. It was actually Hong Kong!

Leatherback has the emp to shut down digital jaeger, and he has enough strength and mobility to counter cherno's alpha lack of speed and crimson's lack of strength, sooo blame the doc
I never wish for Pacific Rim sequel but a prequel. In a prequel I'm expecting more story of Cherno Alpha, Crimson Typhoon, Romeo Blue in action and character building of the pilots

Cherno was the most interesting Jaeger and crew in that universe. They deserved a much more badass end. I mean damn, he once beat a kaiju to death with an iceberg!

the only reason cherno lost was because it got tag teamed and did not get backup.

I don't think so I think otachi saw striker eureka coming to assist Cherno so she distracted striker so it couldn't help Cherno
they mainly lost because the two kaijus were purpose built to fight them after newt drifted with the kaiju brain. Otachi was specifically made against the chinese jaeger while leatherback should counter cherno and knock out Striker Eureka which they did. Basically its Newts fault as he leaked all that info by drifting.

I absolutely love Cherno Alpha, it's big head is literally amazing because that is the main weakness of a Jeager, so making it's head big and protected is smart. Too bad we weren't able to see much screen time for Cherno
That isnt his head, its a reactor and its heavily armoured because before newt all the kaiju would attack the light, thinking it was a head. Chernos conpod is in his chest
You know your Jaeger is absolutely fucking powerful when the Precursor had to make *two* Kaijus to counter him.
Leatherback, with sheer brute force and EMP, when attacking Cherno they must have *NO* interruptions from other Jaegers and required the brute strength to even *damage* Cherno the slightest.
Otachi, with acid spray and tail, they needed the Acid to damage Cherno's hard shell to soften it up or to just completely melt it and tail to counter Crimson Typhoon so they can't interrupt them while ganging up on Cherno.
Didnt they say that cherno had a reactor? so the emp wouldnt work.

best part is they didnt even fully manage to destroy cherno alpha, they just dealt a lot of damage, leatherback specifically crushed the con-pod cuz trying to tear a walking bunker with a nuke in it a part isn't a very good idea.

I always thought it was Cherno as a Chernobyl reference. It was a shame how after 7 undefeated years they defeated him so cruelly in Hong Kong.
When Newton drifted with the kaiju brain, the precursors saw the three yaegers that newton saw, and sent Leatherback and Otachi which were basically hard counters to those jaegers, Leatherback could tank Cherno's punches(and shut down striker) while Otachi could melt through its thick armor.

They were able to sort of stand with leatherback on their back no problem though, well, at least until the acid got to them

Cherno was so tough it took the combined efforts to two Cat 4 kaiju to take it down. I'd say it was pretty damn durable.

IRL, Cherno Alpha's design was inspired by both the Mr. Fusion Energy Reactor from Back to the Future, and the MS-06 Zaku II from Mobile Suit Gundam!
I can see a bit of that in there, especially the MS-06 Zaku II. Although like the Zaku II, be awesome if the Cherno Alpha had the shoulder mounted spikes and shield to charging and to see a Heat Tomahawk of that size to.

I see a Scopedog design as well cause of the loaded knuckles and the helmet that they wear was kinda similar to the Scopedog head; sans the rotatable lenses

I know there was talks about an animated series, but, not sure when/if that is going to happen, but it would be cool to show backstory on the fights that already happened. I would like Genndy Tartakovsky to do the animation though!

As you watch you can just feel a certain vibe from every Jäger like Cherno you get the vibe of brute strength and immense raw power but with Crimson you get the vibe of elegant lethality and striker the vibe you is that of a brawler
I love everything about it, that stalwart scooba suit lookin monster mech. I'm especially pleased to know that it's an old, decorated veteran too; still spinning jaws around! (prior to being murdered, that is)
The most brutal hit on Cherno was when it got its head smashed down like a hammer....like damn. But you would think that Jaegers would have a form of mini-self destruct that would be big enough to kill nearby Kaiju but small enough to not be nuclear.

I love the fact Cherno just has this imposing aura about it. He actually looks intimidating, like a brick wall assaulting you. I always thought it resembled a gollum, a folk legend made of pure stone. Nothing fancy or sleek. It just wants to smash, period.

Cherno Alpha is literally one of my fav jaegers out there, I really wished I could see this tank being the Uprising and the later movies to come out

i love how in a movie with mechs that use actually intelligent strategies like outmaneuvering their opponents, using high-tech weapons, and simply rushing them down too quickly for them to do anything, cherno literally just walks up, grabs the kaiju, and then said monster mysteriously shows up dead with a 2-dimensional skull tomorrow.
Gypsy Danger is a legendary Jaeger because of it being one of the oldest Jaegers still in active service and for having 9 confirmed kills, Veteran Pilots and looking badass.
Cherno Alpha is a legendary Jaeger because of it being quite literally the oldest Jaeger still in active service, runs on pure russian bias and Vodka, badass pilots and the embodiment of Russian strength.

Hell yeah Cherno! My fav by far!! Good solid durable soviet construction. Ugly af but made to last and to maximize the spense of the resources used to build it, but worn out and dated. I love that, how they very accurately portray the crumblig super power that Russia was durig the cold war. Still, but barely maintaining its power but clearly falling behind to new welthier super powers, but still a force to be reckoned. Also the completely oposite line of thought compared to EEUU capitalism. Hope they bring it back in the second film. It was the most epic jaeger ❤

because those Kaiju were specifically designed to take down Cherno. that and they worked together... mostly because every time they tried 1v1ing Cherno, she beat the ever-loving fuck out of them.

Don't get me wrong the jaegers are freakin' badass, BUT LET'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT
The other Jaegers got screwed because of their ridiculous designs, do ya know why Gypsy and Striker performed so well? Because they were conventional and easy to maintenance. Meanwhile Crimson's "fabled storm cloud formation" was easily stopped by Otachi GRABBING THE BLADES of the Jaeger and having the opening of grabbing Crimson's PERFECTLY EXPOSED HEAD. And Cherno? It's just too slow, did the six kaiju it kill come one at a time? I'm assuming so because I don't think any jaegers were built to deal with two colossal monsters at the same time, let alone prepare a Jaeger for being, oh I don't know.. SPRAYED WITH THE HIGHLY CORROSIVE ACID EVERY KAIJU HAS IN IT'S BODY. If anything I believe the Jaeger project actually needs a line of small highly mobile jaegers that just have a plasma cannon. Let's be honest that weapon was so strong, right next to the sword. Plus the smaller units could have the advantage by swarming a kaiju in numbers like that of a raptor pack. Most kaiju are just clumsy, why not get at least five small ground units armed with taser harpoons to surround a kaiju, immobilize it, and just wait for gypsy to decapitate it. The benefit with smaller robots would be that they'd only require one pilot. But the entire group should have communications established so they can elaborate complex strategies. Lets be honest here this will save money for everyone, less giant poorly designed robots being scrapped beyond repair. And more smaller robots to work as a team to effectively handle a kaiju. Or just go evangelion and hide everything underground... That always works.
Uncle Crocy Well, Cherno was a mark one, I would say the mark ones were much more experimental, too what design really would work. The mark five Striker probably cost a lot more to build then the likes a Cherno. It's almost like comparing the work horse B-17 to the B-57. One did the job much better, but the other got it done. Beside knowing Russian Engineering Cherno would probably run on anything flammable compared to the Aussie Striker who would need a specialised fuel. I say that metaphorically. If you think Cherno is bad, I would have a look at Romeo blue mate, he's a cut of work
Oh I don't think it's an inherently bad Jaeger, I just think it needs improvements to up to the standards of newer Kaiju, because when you get down to it, a mark 1 giant robot only works well to a point where your enemy outclasses it. Of course unless your robot is upgraded, better yet given a new model. Also, we NEVER speak of Romeo blue.
Haha. Told you about Romeo Blue. Well it really does come down to these giant robots cost billions of dollars. So I can imagine the russian goverment is thinking it ain't broke don't fix it. Russia's pacific coast as well isn't exactly a prime location. Compare that to Australia, who proably needs that newer Jaeger Striker Erukea. I'm baffled the phillipines doesn't have a mark five of it's own, or Japan for that matter. Also Australia must have been like "you spent our military bugget for the next three years on what Bruce?"

I like the idea, but moree jaeger means more feul consumsuption. I reckon they've got the right balance going. Better yet line the breech with Striker's missiles, Cherno's Flame turblines and Gypsy's plasma guns. Or better yet place a grid of the swords over the rift. Boom problem solved. The pile up of Kaiju Corpses might be a problem worth bring Jaegers in to move the bodies away.
