After a while of talking and me sipping my tea there was a questionable smell. She opened the lid and I saw that she had put a microwaveable pack in the pot. As in still closed, plastic wrap still on, the edges melting and charred. (Pretty sure she was a little drunk though if that makes it more excusable? lol) To this day the PTSD is real any time I eat popcorn 🍿 Edit: oooh thanks for the likes guys ♥️

I actually make the best stove pop corn here is my recipe: -Start by putting oil in the big pan, fill the bottom so if you put a popcorn seed, the seed is fully emmerged of oil -Turn on the stove on high temp and wait for the oil to be hot -After like 10 minutes, drop a SINGLE popcorn seed and if it pops under 15 seconds, put the whole seeds in the pan -Everything should start to pop after 20 seconds, but here, make sure to shake the pan and lift it up a few seconds so the popcorn doesnt burn -when the pop stops, you’re done -season with salt Voila (sorry for my average english) Ps: no unpoped or burned seed should be in the pan if u did everything right

My dad is great at this. He taught me to use oil, add kernels, and put that heat on low, cover the pot, and continuously and vigorously move it over the flame (so it doesn't burn) until the popcorn pops and take it off the instant there's 3 seconds between pops. Works every time. Love you, Dad.
@@qb6570 yeah, Jiffy Pop was the easy stove top popcorn. It came in a disposable metal pan, you just remove the cover and put it on the stove for a bit. So instead of using oil and kernals, you just buy a pack of Jiffy Pop.
Air popper. My mom got hers in the late 1970s. I think she still has it. You put the plastic chute on the base, put your butter or oil in the special heater cup in the side, put the popcorn kernels in the dumpable measuring cup on top. Then you line your big bowl up under the chute, switch the popper on, dump the kernels in and wait. They swirl around the cooking part as the popper blows hot air on them until they pop and come out the chute. In about 5 minutes, you have a bowl of perfect popcorn with hardly any waste. Drizzle your heated oil over the top of the popcorn, sprinkle some salt on top and hand-toss the popcorn to mix. Your popcorn never burns. Watching this stovetop stuff felt like watching caveman technology ;)

I actually like making popcorn on the stove. However, I don’t use cast iron pots to make my popcorn. I use my regular non stick pots to make it because it’s easier to move around.
