@@deborahchesser7375 The F-4 is another 62 year old fabulous mean machine but it was tandem and not single seat fighter although both (F-86 & F-104) had tandem models for training. Both the USAF Thunderbirds and the US navy Blue Angels used the F-4 back in the 1970s. These made for lung crushing sounds during their crowd pleasing shows. The F-4 are very impressive machines ! The Canadian Golden Hawks demonstration team used the F-86 back in the 1960s and what a show they put on !

Back in the 70's I was an air cadet at cfb penhole Alta. 104 out of cold lake did a LOW altitude fly over at our nco graduation..wow! It literally sounded like a "tie" fighter from star wars!

Interesting that in the formation the F104 engine dominates.

Why does the single J79 howl on the f104 but the two J79 on the phantom don't????

If I recall correctly it has to do with the intakes design.

It's the pilot screaming when he opens the throttle :)
It's all engine, fuselage is smaller than new planes because it doesn't have all the electronics

Finally! Without tanks! As nature intended it to be!!
Would have loved tobsee a knife edge approach or 90 degree banked turn just to show those tiny wings

I had an old, crappy Testor's model of the 104 and it simply did not do the aircraft justice. Perhaps it was the diminutive scale (or perhaps it's because Testor's took so many shortcuts) but the real aircraft is a badass.
